  • yes, I have watched this film many times. you have to, in order to catch everything in it. Its especially tragic as Gregory Harrisons character realizes (finally) that he should not have left him when he needed him most. The climax was amazingly real, like it was really happening. A moment that still is shocking to see after several viewings.

  • The one who says "I can't"... who the hell is he? I mean, what relation to the main character? Was he just put in that spot to say that line?

Why is Lee Grant talking with Marlee Matlin about such a major question?

Yes, I saw the movie, more than once. There's all these lines that seem kind of sprinkled randomly onto way too many supporting actors.

  • THIS IS ONE OF THE NOT JUST BEST GAY FILMS EVERY MADE BUT ONE OF THE BEST FILMS EVERY MADE. THE FILM IS TOTALLY CARRIED BY THE ACTORS. YOU FEEL LIKE YOU ARE APART OF THEM AND THE STORYLINE. IT IS SO REALISTIC AND FULL OF EMOTION THAT YOU CANT HELP BUT FALL APART BY THE END OF THE FILM. IT MAY EVEN RUIN YOU FOR A FEW DAYS. IT DID ME BUT I WATCH IT ATLEAST ONCE A YEAR. IT IS TRULY AMAZING!!!

  • Good lord! LOL I have seen this film and I just watched this trailer to make sure it was as great as I remember. I am NOW a snotty nosed, teary-eyed, laughing mess. LOL This film IS as great as I remember and since I cannot find a bittorrent, I'll just have to buy the damned thing. It's worth it! And Milla Jovovich does the TERRIFIC "My Heart" !!!

  • totally awesome movie...... i have seen it several times.... and cried every time....two great actors in this movie

  • That was the Eric´s first movie that I saw... since then I admire him ;-)

  • who sing the song starts up at 1:07-its not lesley Gore. Please

  • What is the name of the song that starts up at 1:07 and continues the whole way. I know Olivia Newton John does it, Please help me

  • One of my top 10 movies of all-time that I gave the coveted 5 Stars to. Randall Kleiser waited 10 years to get it made.

  • Ilove this film it is just a pity that it has been deleted from the uk playlist just like Torch song trilogy has

  • everyone go search nickyandarielshow its should be the first video tht appears its a movie tralier l0l those girls r epic :) subscribe them

  • eric roberts hit it way way way out of the park.the performance of a lifetime.

  • Buenisima la pelicula recomendable..... no llore porque me aguante lo mas que pude .... jejejej muy buena.

  • The Story line was Perfect for it's time, and remains one of my all time favorite films. Although difficult to watch, I know first hand the decision that he faced. After loosing too many friends over the years, Aids is not the death sentence it once was, but all the same the illnesses still exist. To pose another question to "is it fair to family and friends"...Is it really fair to have them see their loved one in pain and with the effects of Aids?..I live it every day, and I think not.

  • I saw this trailer when I was around 12 ( 1996). I never got the chance to see the film until now. in the 90es the rentelstores didn't have it and over the years I forget it. i try to watch the movie now.

  • No i dont think its unfair cause its better have the memory of your dead loved one as someone who had a smile on their face when they passed on, and they spent that last moment putting that smile on with you, rather than knowing you didnt make their last days alive the best you possibly could. I would go all out in this situation,friends,family,women,liquor,drugs,strangers,music,stars.ect.

  • This made me cry

  • This movie devasted me, I have never cried so much

  • i just saw it, is the most beautiful gay movie i`ve ever seen in my life.

  • Impressive all-star cast!!!!

  • the idea is interesting, but the script has major problems. too many performers with too little to say and do. everything is token this, token that. the only interesting part is when the ex-lover comes back, esp when eric roberts decides it's time to forgive gregory harrison and have a chat, it's all in the eyes. we do much better aids movies nowadays.

  • I loved this movie! The ending was so sad!

  • why don't you put the whole movie on here? that would be great.

  • hy who sings the Song -1;07-ITS MY PARTY

  • What is the name of the song that starts up at 1:07 and continues the whole way. I know Olivia Newton John does it, but I absolutely, positively cannot find it ANYWAY. It's not on the movie soundtrack either. Please help me, I'm desperate!!

  • @sgoodman72 I was very dissapointted by the soundtrack because it was full piano.. what happened to alll the tunes??

  • @angelste75 Its Rude... I Break My Heart to The Last Tune on it.. But AN Deacided To Scratch that spacific part of the disc..

    GUTTED...

  • I think you can download it i online @ MOOV ZON, COM g00gle the link above

  • this movie is one of the best of Eric Roberts movies

  • It is funny, I remember seeing this trailer at the movie theater back in the early 90's....never thought i will live something similar when my boyfriend tested positive

  • My condolence to you and your boyfriend

  • Who sings The song of the trailler and Not to the end of the movie-please.

  • the song is sung by milla jovovich... it´s your life.

  • who sings "it's my party "in this movie ? i love it!

  • I would love to know who sings "Its My Party" in the movie. I have searched, but havent found it yet.

  • Olivia Newton-John.

  • looks really sad....

  • It's My Party was an emotional and funny movie at the same time. Excellent performances from everyone. It is one of the my top 5 movies of all time. The Director waited 10 years to make it turning down jobs to get it done. Awesome love story. 5 Stars.

  • What is the version of the song? who is singing? at the end?

  • Olivia Newton-John sings the final song.

  • i showed it mum today after i found out i had aids x she cried but understood x

  • Это мой самый любимый фильм!!!!!!!!!!

  • i live this movie need it on dvd to show my friend but its not avalable in the uk dam it

  • I couldnt get it on region 2 either so have uploaded the full film to my channel

  • Neither in Spain.

  • The best movie i have ever seen in my life by far.

  • FANTASTIC FILM and all the actors were good in it.

  • Man Eric Roberts has to be the most stunningly gorgeous man. Even with age he is ridiculously beautiful. I hope to watch this movie, it looks great, though im sure it will make me cry!

  • You have no idea it will make you sob stupid cry:)

  • This is my favorite movie of all times! He is wonderful, sexy, and it makes me cry so hard I can't breath...I had a copy of the movie and I'm sure I've watched it atleast 25 times...

  • I have a love hate relationship with this movie.

I love the warmth and humor, but i hate this movie because it always makes me cry so hard that at the end i can't even swallow or breath...so sad. : (

I guess thats why i never bought it.

  • Was i just listening to my own head, our was there some buzz in H-wood about Roberts getting an oscar for this film?

Even though I had seen Roberts in other films, this is the 1st time I said "Damn, this dude can really act!" I've payed close attention to him sinces then.

The film is LOADED with bad-a** actors.

  • I loved this movie. You have to get past the rather cheesy performance by Harrison but everyone else was pretty good. Great story. At the time it was released, it hit too close to home. Now, we get to see how far we've come with the epidemic. Definitely worth seeing again.

  • I agree. i was just a teenage girl budding into adulthood when the epidemic started hitting amongst my friends. At 22, I didn't understand what it meant when I would go to these types of parties and nurse people on window sills...I thought that I was just going to give them a sigh and a smile...in retrospect I see that it was all somuch bigger than that..these were final goodbyes, making peace with pasts, and it stuns me how many of us couldn't just come to grips with that and just SAY it.

  • This looks very good.

  • does someone know where i can watch the hole movie?

  • Only RENT and Brokeback have made me cry so hard. BUT this was thie first. I still watch it and STILL cry since the firs time I watched it over 10 yrs ago..

  • wow this movie entirely broke my heart. no movie has ever made me cry harder. one of those rare movies where they actually take the time to make you care about the character, and don't lose you by heavy handing the drama down. i'm not sure i can watch it again. I'm surprised this didn't receive award fanfare other than GLAD, though i guess im not considering how the times were and all. Beautiful in a heartbreaking way.

  • Does anyone know the name of the artist that sings the slow version of "its my party and ill cry if I want to?"

  • Olivia Newton John sings that version.

  • Anyone have a copy?

  • I wish I did.

  • Excelente actuacion de Eric Roberts me encanta esta pelicula aborda un tema que no esta muy ajeno a la realidad, conozco gente que lo ha hecho y me sorprendio verlo en pelicula..

  • One of the movies that changed my perspective on life.

  • it's the best gay movie ever,i recommend it to everyone

  • Tears still flow when memories sneak up without warning of so many friends who had their lives stolen by AIDS. Before anyone knew what AIDS was. When no one knew that loving someone could lead to death. Thank you for posting this clip! It is a very powerful movie.

  • AMAZING movie!

  • Where is a revolutionary when you need one.

  • He is in the same place he was when his own son died. He let it happen because he loved us enough to let him die so we can live. Some of us will have the gift of 70 years and some the gift of seven. Who has it better? The one who leaves what we feel is to soon or the one who has to stay on this earth to long.We go to a place with no more tears and no more pain. A place of peace and grace and true love. I have lost many to aids. I know they wouldent come back even if the could. With respect

  • Wow didn't see it...looks good though--but my friend's dad was in it somewhere. He played "Tony Zamara" according to IMDB.

I don't really know what he looked like so I was wondering if someone can point him out in the trailer. He died just a few years ago. :(

  • I'm not positive, but I'm pretty sure that Paul Regina, as "Tony Zamara" is the first of Eric Roberts in the gym, toward the beginning of the trailer.

  • Oops, I meant "friend" not "first of Eric Roberts" :P

  • Does Olivia Cry in this movie?

  • this movie is great! i saw this movie 10 years ago and cried also.and i wish for all gay boys just love and health!!!

  • I remember seeing the trailer for this when i was 11 back in 96'. For some reason i always remembered it. I think ought to try and see it. Looks great.

  • This movie is incredible. Oh wow.. i cried until i couldnt cry anymore the first time i saw this movie. It was so moving.

What an actor he is? It was so sad to know he would die in the end but God how strong he was for his friends and family. It is so good.

I am a straight women and God it moved me beyond measure.

  • i rem this movie very very very well....it was in HK when i first watch it . My gay cousin told me its fabulous! i saw it alone at Lan Tau island....i cried...when my bf came over , we saw it and i cried again....now I think i am going to get this dvd after so many years... i want other pple to watch it too....I think I will have a party too!!!!

  • so sad....it makes me think about my sister and how she is in to drugs...

  • Good acting...it's always great to see Olivia Newton-John acting, also.

The movie is a little bit on the maudlin side, though.

  • i cried myself to sleep! Very sad movie...

  • I am not gay, but i love this movie. I cried.

  • I crie a lot, too.

Quando eu assisti esse filme chorei bastante tambem.

    It's so sad.

  • When I watched this movie I cried a lot...

    A LOT!

  • I love this movie! I cry everytime i watch it! it is so touching... if i knew i was going to die i would do the same thing!

  • Olivia newton-John's song at the end if very touching. I cried a lot during this film also.

  • This movie made me cry several times. It's very touching. Everyone should see it.

  • even the preview is heartwrenching...i think it's the song at the end.

  • i wanna see dis movie it looks good

  • Una de las mejores peliculas que he visto, la historia para el tiempo que se mostro tiene muy buenos fundamentos y sobre todo, los valores que demuestra como el apoyo de la pareja y el apoyo familiar.

  • This movie was so sad. I cried. :( Great movie. :)

  • It's my Party, the song from the movie, it's Olivia Newton John singing, she's also acting in it!

  • I can't watch the movie without absolutely becoming an emotioal trainwreck and crying for days afterward. Even just watching the trailer here, I cried. Its SO SAD yet such a reality for so many gay people.

I'm gay, but only 29 years old, so I didn't see the mass extermination of people in the 1980s. I have known 3 people who died from AIDS, within the last 6 years. I have about 15 acquaintances who are HIV positive.

  • Who sing the song?

  • i love marlee!

  • I haven't seen this movie yet. But I am going to now.

  • Eric Roberts is the most under appreciated Actor in Hollywood.I refused to watch that movie when my friend was dying. He wanted me to help him that way,it didn't turn out the way it should have. Eric showed a beautiful way to say good bye.Now 6 years later i watched that movie, and it hurt to my core.We all know he's a straight man,but he should have got an Academy Award for it.Beautiful!

  • My brother died of AIDS in 1988. I watched this movie 10 years later and it brought back a flood of memories of what my brother went through when he was dying. I can't watch the movie without tears welling. The cast was brilliant. They worked for scale. So they really didn't get much for it. It is a classic as far as I am concerned. The composer of the music soundtrack died not too long ago. If you get a chance buy it.

  • I see that your comment was made 2 years ago, but I must reply as I've just seen "It's My Party" for the first time. It's the saddest movie I've ever seen in my life! I lost my brother to AIDS too (in 1992). Near the end of the movie, when Nick starts telling Brandon about "Brandon" (in 3rd person), I almost had a complete emotional breakdown. So many things I've not thought of in years (perhaps on purpose)! Now I'm terminally ill (cancer, not AIDS-related) and this has certainly made me think.

  • I hope the best for you. I know you are going through a rough time. I have another brother who is going through chemo starting this week. He had 2/3 of his stomache removed last year and now they have found more cancer in his liver and other places. Take care of yourself.

  • Thanks for replying to my comment -- and thanks for your good wishes. I'm doing okay at the moment. It's been a 5-year battle so far...and I'm not planning to give in any time real soon.

You're in Saco? I'm in Lisbon Falls. What a small world!

Thanks again. Best wishes to you...and to your brother.

  • I would never through a party for my death. it would probably make it worse than it already was. I love this movie, but it just tears me apart everytime I see it.

  • One of my favorite movies. Very touching. I cried whenever I watched it. In the movie, Eric Roberts plays a successful architect who throws a farewell party for friends and family after he learns he is losing his hard-fought battle against the AIDS virus.

I kinda understand what he is going thru but do you think is fair to his families and friends? The emotions he puts them thru' knowing that he will die the next day. Would you do the same?

  • @souldrifter71 When to die, should be everyone's personal choice. It;s only fair, since nobody decides to be born...
