  • @GreyKarma4 That's a really nice comment. Thanks.

  • You should go on Britain's Got Talent...

  • @figoro07 We don't do the 'popular' stuff !!! Thanks for your nice thoughts.

  • @figoro07 Just realised that you're based in the same city as us!! We play at The Vernon Arms in Spondon quite regularly - please make yourself known to us if you ever get there.

  • Nieuw Holland...until the english came....

  • @GentlePirateLove Hi, yes, I've just checked this out - the Dutch found Australia in 1644 and called it Nieuw Holland. I never knew that before. Thanks for improving my knowledge, I like to know about the songs we sing.

  • @John8Linda

    I'm Dutch^^'

    we had it in historyclass...

and NO PROBLEM! i like it whenh my useless knowledge becomes usefull!

(don't mind my english please, like said before:I'm a cheesehead XD)

  • @John8Linda I guess you do know about New York formerly being Nieuw Amsterdam? :)

    Anyway, this was awesome! :D

  • @EurovisionGek2011 Yes, I knew about Nieuw Amsterdam, and before that it was Nouvelle Angouleme. The Dutch were great seafarers. Thanks for your comment.

  • why is this always sung in an Irish accent?

  • @1980Jonno Linda is Yorkshire born and bred and says she wouldn't know how to do an Irish accent !! I always thought Linda sang in a straight English accent. What in particular makes the song sound Irish ? Thanks for your comment - do any other of our songs sound Irish??

  • @John8Linda

Firstly, let me say I really like your version of the song, it's excellent. The Irish accent thing is something you hear in a lot of folk music, much as an American accent is the default accent in so much pop music. Perhaps it's just me, but listen to the line that ends with 'to face the enemy' - it's the lilting vowel sounds that sound Irish to me

  • @1980Jonno Interesting - thanks for replying and taking an interest in our songs.

  • @John8Linda great song but she doesn;t sound yorkshire in her singing voice, more southern accented in tone...maybe cos no yorkshire words/dialect are sung for this particular song?

  • @3tangle3 Its a while since Linda lived in Yorkshire, but have you noticed how many singers lose their native accents when singing??

    Thanks for your comment.

  • @John8Linda fair enough...I do understand what you are saying, but its also nice to hear people sing with an accent only cos variety is the spice of life....no need to defend yourselves...by keeping these traditions alive...why would anyone truly care how you sung it,,,,the important thing is that its still sung :)

  • Super, Nice to see a family playing together, as the saying goes.."The family that play together stay together."

  • @eddiebaby58 Thats a really nice thing to say, thanks

  • Thanks for your comment.

  • Nice, I'd heard a different version before. Good job!

  • Very cool. Good on ya!

  • Thanks for your comment.

  • I never heard this song before. The girl on the melodica does a great job.

  • This is an old traditional song and goes under various titles and lyrics. You may have heard a different version? Our daughter Helen is playing the melodica.

  • Sweet.

  • Thanks for your comment.

  • The woman in the middle, what instrument is she playing?

  • Its a Hohner alto melodica which dates back to the 1960's. You can still find them on e-bay.

  • Excellent. Thank You for adding this very important ballad.

  • Thanks, check out our other videos. We hope to add more soon.
