Lee sin was an original champion, he got delayed, and when they released him they didn't like how he turned out so they removed him, then added Udyr as his replacement, after redoing Lee Sin, he was re released later on.

The guy before teemo is a champion called Lee Sin, The Blind Monk. He was an announced champion before the game came out and everyone thought he was done into another appearance. Riot said that wasn't the case however and that Lee Sin is yet to come out. Read it in LoL wikia
