MAGIC JACK SUCKS! The phone calls are not that bad (90% of the time) but if you need to contact customer service, get ready for at least an hour, I spent over 14 hours one time and they finally replaced it and it worked fine. Well, I went to change my number (which was free to change when I bought it). Well it is now $10. I decided to do that and when I got home ALL OF MY CONTACTS ARE GONE. Nowhere does it say that I will lose my contacts when doing this. I now have no way to recover them. SUCK

I bought mine about three weeks ago and really enjoy it. If I think I might have a connection problem, I'll click menu and restart and the software reloads. Rarely, do I do this. My screen saver popping on and staying on a long time sometimes affects the Magic Jack, but it's rare.

Would I recommend it? Yes.

This "magic jack" is the best. Been using it for two weeks and no problems with it, so easy to install, only three step, easy. The only thing that I don't like is that it does not have CANADIAN AREA CODE. I live in Ontario and i can call anyone but they can't call me because it will be long distance for them but hopefully in a few months "magic jack' will have a canadian area code.

I bought the magic jack. People who I am talking to can't tell. The thing is if someone quickly elevates the tone of their voice while talking you have NO IDEA what they are saying the device turns loud voices into robostatic the lasts the duration of the loud word.

Magic Jack is a money rip off!They lie & say you have a 30 day FREE trial.Actually they put a hold on your credit/debit card before you get it.I never confirmed my purchase,sent 3 emails saying I dont want it,& received it anyway.Immediately I returned it,10 minutes after I got it.They had already charged my card,which makes the 30 day FREE trial a lie.I sent proof of the return,but still trying to get my money back.They have bad service reps,and FALSE ADVERTISING!!!DONT BUY THIS MAGIC JACK.

As you begin the process to get the free trial you had to select DEBIT/GIFTCARD or CREDIT CARD. Obviously yours was the first category. If you properly identify your card as Debit, nice little warning pops up stating that the nature of the free trial only permits true credit cards. DEBIT cards with be billed immedietly. So either you did not read or respond properly to the question, or you balatantly failed to read the notice of immediate billing. Either way, YOUR BAD!

I got the magic jack after having vonage. Vonage, i think should be shut down by the FTC. Vonage was illegally running my debit card when ever they pleased. Check with the BBB on Vonage. They have a very BAD rap. 8,500 complaints in the past 36 months. I filled a complaint on vonage with the BBB and won my case. I'm more and pleased with the magic jack. Goodbye Vonage.

I agree with those who have problems with MJ Live Help. Almost all have no idea what you are talking about and you get shuffled around from one to the other having to explain and reexplain. I dare inventor DAN BORISLOW or one of the media that praise MJ to call Live Help with an issue and see what happens. There is no phone number or email contact to complain to, so this creates a lot of frustration. Hey MJ, put up a phone number or email address so we know or complaints are addressed.

I got one and it worked fine for about a month and then for no reason stopped working. I tried tech suport but got nowhere. This is a bad device that doesn't work as advertised and when you want to return it you can't.

The only good part about magicjack is that it's cheep. Cheep junk.

I purchased one of these devices for my elderly father who live thousands of miles away so he could call me without costing him too much money, as he is on a fixed income. Once he got the hang of it, he really enjoyed the saving....That is until the day it STOPPED WORKING for no reason. He thought he did something wrong. I let him know that he did not. In fact, it seems common for these 'magic jack offs' to die after 30 days, making it impossible to return for a refund. And Customer Service? HA!

Terrible reception and sending quality. Doesn't have all state area codes. You can only receive calls from other magic jack users.

That is not true. You can receive phone calls from anyone from any phones from anywhere. I get calls from Cambodia, Dominican Republic. I have the jack for about four months. works perfect.

Herb, you haven't done your job thouroughly (sp). This guy is, I am told, in trouble with the IRS regarding his past. Yes, he has been around, 10-10-2-20 was an "overpriced" way to take advantage of Latin's in Miami, and other less computer savy populations.....not good when I hear IRS "rumors" on a guy that boasts on youtube about living in a 20 million dollar house in PalmBeach !! Check it out and notice where the market was when he was so "sure" of himself and his "hedge fund" knowledge.

My customer service experience was great , i dont have it saved but with a little searching you can actually get the founder of the companies email address and he will get his head of tech support on with you.

He has said that this is a very fastly growing company and that they are aquiring new CSR reps all the time. And also since some mistakenly say the CSR support is based in a foreign country , they are actually based in florida

I can't say how yours' going to work, but mine was horrible. I have tried to return my MJ but when i filled out the application, they just told me to wait for an email. It's been almost a week and no response. I contacted constumer service and they just told me to wait.

I wonder if they just want the free trial to end and charge me!!!

yeah man that's what they do, you're not the first person to say this, I have min it works allright one or two calls out of 10 sounds choppy a little bit so you may say that it works 80% of the time not enought to make it your primary line!

You have to pay for international calls, unless the person you are calling has a Magic Jack. So basically if there is a Magic Jack on your end, and the other person's end, then the call is free, no matter where either of you live in the world.  The thing is, I dont know if theyre shipping this thing outside of North America yet.

MagicJack is great i can call in the US and CAnada for free even international calls are free!! anywhere in states and canada though. Thanks to the inventor of this thing

just got mine..set it up. its works! note however the setup is tricky. you might have to leave your usb in for a while as it sets itself up(you might not notice its setting itself up..just leave it). i am making calls now :) i did notice earlier there was cross talk(some kind of promotional jumped into my conversation). happened only once though. hope it doesnt happen again.

Customer Service is bad, after my 14th tech support conversation, I went to the other computer (which was logged in under our son's account) I plugged the MagicJack in and it worked! So from there I figured out that in order to use the MagicJack you have to have a "LIMITED" user account on a computer. I was trying to install this item on "ADMINISTRATOR" user accounts. To prove that I wasn't crazy I created a NEW account and called it "MagicJackUser" and made it a "LIMITED" account and it WOKED!

He is wrong. I have limited users (kids) on my computer. My account is obviously the Administrator. MagicJack works on all accounts on my machine. Including mine. Good guess on troubleshooting but a wrong one. Something else besides the Account type is the issue.
