I'm liking this series so far Eric, good work! Yeah, I wouldn't expect much from a food stand especially with the rice and beans. Re-fried beans are just that, not much else you can do with them. There's a Mexican place here in Halifax called Mexico Lindo that I've been going to for years and it's fantastic. A guy and his wife who I've come to know well run the place and it's all her home recipes made fresh everyday. Rarely they run out of stuff but I'd rather that than something reheated.

@PatternistSlave If you live anywhere near the border there is no reason to eat at Taco Smell especially at 3 in the morning. Their mexican fare is about as authentic as Carlos Mencia. I can think of at least 10 Mexican restaurants near me that kick the shit out of that lame as feces that they serve you that's more authentic and in some cases cheaper. Even Del Taco has food that shames Taco Bell especialy their jalapeno rings. Those actualy sound good right now...

I tried a burrito at some new chain of Mexican food in Sydney, and it was mediocre. What I didn't like about it was all the rice and beans they put inside that thing, which really killed the taste. Even the burrito at Launceston's food court was better, and it was just a generic burrito. If I ever go there again, I'll see if there's an option to not have so much rice and beans, and hopefully have it properly made this time.

There was only One Mexican restraint that I ever liked but man it gave you fire diarrhea a day later. Man there food was so good it was worth it! No one spoke english and the people who ate there where all Latino. However aside from that one place I don't like Mexican restraints and would usually prefer Taco-Bell over most of them.

It's hard to find a real good taco nowadays. There's a place around here called Qdoba. It's kind of like a Subway for Tex-Mex. Very good stuff, but a little on the pricey side at times. But they have plenty of specials and coupons.

One thing I can say is where I live we have good choices of taco/burrito type places. There's 4 of them in about 15 mile radius and they all compete to try to have the best food.
