  • His best song ever!!!

  • His best song ever!!!

  • This song, what is it about? Does anyone know? I'm looking for some interpretations, but, sometimes, Neil Young can be a little bit hermetic, at least for me, hehe.

  • @sonrisolprarebater I think it makes more sense if you're really high, or imagine being really high. It's abstract psychedelia. Fantastic tune.

  • @sonrisolprarebater dude, sometimes songs are just about what they're about. sometimes there's nothing to decipher. i would quit being so academic about it and just enjoy it for what it is... one of the greatest of all time

  • i love guitar solo

    No shreds or great tecnique

    Pure heart

  • @freebova I agree.

  • What a great opening chord..

  • Whats with this modor music its nuthing but the word bitch and editing systems making your voice sound wierd and a bunch of random techno noices wat happend to real music that the words actually ment something besides pussy and bitch and ass

  • 11/8 ....bad ass!! :D

  • @passwordbird the tempo?

  • Back to the past....

my walkman, this song, a joi..., The picture of my youth. Love it.

  • love ...

  • Each note of the piano give a hit in my heart ...

  • ti-tan89976073998 !

  • I love the guitar on this track!! It makes me really sad..

  • Perfect end to a perfect album

  • His stutter step playing that opens the solo, damn, it's like he can't quite get some frustration out. Burns and so did the Stray Gators.

  • i love ~ :o)

  • I wore this 8-track completely out back in the day. Harvest is an absolutely superior body of work, start to finish.

  • @raelraven2 I agree with you--and it reminds me of his friend Joni Mitchell's Court and Spark album---every single song is fascinating and uniquely rewarding.Such artistry!

  • didn't even realize today is neil young's birthday until i saw the video description

  • This is an absolutely great song!

  • I love the changes in this song!

  • Between the lines of H? Was Neil using back then??

  • @a0308717 Lines of age, not H, the lyrics are even posted on the song for christ sakes.

  • @a0308717 no you got the wrong song, its the one right before this one thats about heroine

  • To you dont like it why do you listen to him? Different people like different music. No need to say bad things about him, he is a great artist

  • MAsterpiece of pacing ... dont get hung up on the words, the just fit in as needed

  • The miracle does not exist, the music yes !

  • That's my favourite song of Neil Young. <33

  • @Forestflavour Agreed.

  • @Forestflavour Mine too.

  • Was reading David Mitchell's excellent "Black Swan Green" novel this morning, which mentions this track. Had to hear it again; thanks for making it easily available!

  • cLaaaaaaaaaaSSik_________!!!!!!!!!

  • is a canadian singer songwriter?

ma va! non l'avrebbi mai creso ....chi te lo ha detto?

  • The best version of this song (entire album side) is on Journey Through The Past..A movie by Neil from the early 70's...Very trippy album..

  • words between the grime of sages of the outragous fortunes of unfortunate fools

  • I'm 25 years old, I was born with this song, i grew up with this album, with Neil Young...ans when he'll die, i'll be inconsolable!! Even if he'll be in each of us beyond the death...

  • i love this song

  • Canada's finest. Love you Neil.

  • ahhh fcuk yeah

  • hell yeah

  • good song

  • favourite song of the album , i just love bleusy sound of this !

  • I totally love this songs .) nice memories ...

  • Only heroin addicts truly understand thesse lyrics '' im sittin here hopin this water will boil''

  • Rakymaky: Thanks for the album version, never could find it on youtube before, was always live performances, etc. Great job on a great song.

  • I love this so much it will always stand as my favourite track from this album for too many reasons and regrets

  • Neil's best guitar plying isn't complicated, just very nice.Such is the case between 2:40 and 4:00 here. Much of his work over the years was written with a piano and translated into guitar.

  • Two persons who don't know what real music is...

  • yeah neil really hits it with this one,

  • My first concert. his guitar moaned like a prehistoric animal. God it was fantastic. Linda ronstadt and the stoned ponies(( the eagles)) opp0ened for him. 8 th grade. I am forever a martin and gibson guitarist.

  • My first concert. his guitar moaned like a prehistoric animal. God it was fantastic. Linda ronstadt and the soned ponies(( the eagles)) opp0ened for him. 8 th grade. I am forever a martin and gibson guitarist.

  • My first concert. his guitar moaned like a prehistoric animal. God it was fantastic. Linda ronstadt and the soned ponies(( the eagles)) opp0ened for him. 8 th grade

  • Seine Biographie ist auch hammer...

  • since i turned 17, i have purchased this album twice on cassette and three times on CD...ive been travelling a lot for the past 20 years and anytime i have moved on, I usually leave this album along with a few other musical gems as goodbye presents for people who understand the gesture. I need to get another hardcopy on CD again...life's not the same without it

  • cant believe how tangible the emotion and tune of this song are, not to mention the gripping message of those lyrics...this shits for real my friends

  • Honestly now.... im not any kind of an attention whore. BUT HOW CAN actually someone dislike this???? pffffff

  • 1 person in a fit of excitement missed the like button, amazing song

  • 0 dislikes, the way it should be.

  • fuck yeah!...

  • it was me and 4 of my closest freinds driving down a counrty road at night listening to this last summer, as i stared out the window i light tower blinked a red light in the distance, and i felt at complete peace, i cant explain how content i was at that moment, not a care in the world

  • neil had no learning curve he was always good and still is

  • @phantomstratocaster he, like dylan, has released some utter shite to pay the bills as part of contract or whatever... they are both geniuses and therefore we forgive them

  • @quaecky

    examples plz?

  • @quaecky Neil Young: "Are you passionte?", "Life", "Landing on water..."Trans"

Bob dylan: "Infidels", "down in the groove", "under the red sky"

    The proof is above

  • With the stray gators...recorded in a garage

  • This is what music should still be ,sick and tired of the some pretty worthless shit music i hear nowadays alotta soul and you dont have to be high to like this song ,, makes it fun if u r ;p

  • This song is so amazing, such a underrated tune by the Canadian legened!

  • great tune from a stonking album!

  • Lennon, Young, Dylan my greatest influences musically which has such a profound influence on all of the worlds western and even non-western people I forgot John Coltrane, Billie Holiday, Sinatra and Nat King Cole; these are my teachers and source of relaxation and expansion of cognitive awareness what more need I say? I speak only for myself, many have written great songs but for me these are far and away the greatest influences in my life (which includes John’s Beatle years) I need say no more

  • yo im 53 now neil is a journey for the last 40 plus years hes been a real musical force and one of the best song writers around---i do lean more to the early stuff but thats because where inclined to remember our youth--hes still great and wrote many a good tune after say 85

  • @kju1019 I'm 52 and I thought I was an "expert" on Classic Rock..... I'm reading this month's (Feb) MOJO magazine. Cover story is "Top Fifty Neil Young Songs" as chosen by artists.

    This song is number 32.....

I'm embarrassed that from 50 to 32 I've only recognized maybe 3.... BUT am excited to discover "new" (to me) tunes !!!

  • During my magic mashroom trip today I listened to this song for the first time and it was totally mindblowingly amazing, it will be an awesome memory to tell my kids one day.

  • @AR1K1988

+10 points for talking to your kids about magic mushrooms

  • @AR1K1988

    Same here men <3

  • @AR1K1988 next time mate, check out sendin shivers by the tonic, ten times better

  • @themadtonic comparing your tonic to neil young is like saying the circle jerks are ten times better than jimi hendrix...are you fucking high mate? let's keep the comparisons to a minimum...especially when the garage band sound of "The Tonic" is involved...try Tones on Tail or some fucking thing...

  • @lldragonfly haha,i must of been fucking high!!

  • @AR1K1988 Coincidentally, I first heard this song during an acid trip in Summer of '81 and found it equally mindblowingly amazing. I've heard the song many times since (without chemical refreshment) and the quality of the song remains the same, no hallucinogenic help needed!

  • He is hard to top in my book!!!!

  • this is musical treasure. dont let anybody tell you any differant!!@!!@

  • what a frieken song i have played it 10 000 times and i am still not sick of it.

  • Best song ever when done by curiousgeorge55 that is.

  • @11xzxzxz You are right! And he is the best Neil Young fan ever!

  • @accordionreid He told you to say that right? You and me are far bigger fans. I know all of Neil's lyrics to any song he did from '66 to round '80. Curious has mostly the worst songs of Neil Young not to suggest that his catalog of the worse isn't an important contribution to Neilism or nihilism . His great video is where he is playing but he is afraid of failure of trying that with another Neil song. Tell him I told you. ha.

  • @11xzxzxz I appreciate your view but really some of Neil's best albums are after 1980 like Freedom, Sleeps With Angels, Chrome Dreams II, Harvest Moon, Unplugged, Mirror Ball, Are You Passionate?, Prairie Wind, Live at Massey Hall. Where have you been? I know the Seventies were amazing for Neil and I play the songs too and love them all really. Tonight's the Night, Zuma and On the Beach and Live Rust are my fav's of all time of any artist with the exception of Band on the Run,

  • @accordionreid I just disagree and the seventies had a lot more records that are great - His first , After the Goldrush, Everybody Knows..., Time Fades Away, Harvest, Comes a Time...

I just think most of what you mention just have a lot less good songs. Some have only 1 or 2.

We agree that Live Rust is maybe his best .. The dvd is fantastic and Neil covers better songs than on the longer Decade though that is great too.

  • Do not agree with the all the music being manufactured rubbish comment.Neil young has never sold out(commercialized) and never will.

  • I think that the production on this album was amazing. Every instrument has room to breathe, especially on this song. Would love to get my hands on the 10+ minute version that I used to have of this song.

  • Love Am-F-G-Em timing... 6/4...5/4...6/4...5/4

  • Definitely one of the best songs ever written. Harvest is such an awesome, amazing album. Unfortunately they don't make music like this anymore. It's all manufactured rubbish nowadays designed to make a quick buck; the real love for music seems to have disappeared

  • @80smusiclover37

Check out a group that is now disbanded, as of ten days ago, but The White Stripes kept music real for awhile. Listen to "Ball and Biscuit," "Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground," "As Ugly As I Seem," and tell me Neil wouldn't dig them.

  • @80smusiclover37 Don't let it bring you down. There is a lot of good music. Try going to kdhx.org and listen to the archives. Songwriter's showcase is a great program. The radio station is in St Louis, Missouri, which is where I live. It's the only radio station worth listening to. You can listen to all of the programs for the last 2 weeks. Just don't watch American Idol. That show is not for music lovers. It is for brain-dead sheep.

  • @peerman2006 Hehe, I see what you did there...

  • @80smusiclover37 You are so right.

  • @80smusiclover37

    You are sooooooooooo right..

  • @80smusiclover37 of course music like this is still made. if the only place you are looking is the charts and mtv then all you can expect to find is manufactured garbage... look elsewhere...

  • @80smusiclover37 I've left instructions for this to be played at my funeral. If Harvest isn't in your top ten albums, then as far as I'm concerned, you've missed music totally

  • @wazzzit such a good post I could see this as my journey to another world too but had not considered it til your post. Dont know why as always saw so many life giving things to it.

  • @80smusiclover37 That's a blatantly ignorant statement. There are still hundreds, even thousands of bands and artists out there producing music for no other reason than their love of doing so. Just because you haven't dug hard enough to find and listen to those bands doesn't mean they don't exist. Hint: every radio-hit artist ever, even in the 60s with the Beatles, have been manufactured to make money.

  • @80smusiclover37 nanana they don't make real music anymore nowadays nanana... I definitely love neil young stuff, and so on, i'm a huge 60-50-70-80's fan, but really, listen to some tracks recently released, you won't write the same... The Black Keys, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Justice, Jamaica, Ratatat, RHCP, ... I could write pages of them. The real love for music has not disappeared yet. No it hasn't.

  • @80smusiclover37 .....the fuck they dont try the band bodies of water...the song ever with us.....oh yeah u gotta go beyond radio but there are some good bands

  • @80smusiclover37 haha i'll agree with you there on alot or most music, its hard to believe some people like that cheap auto-tuned shit they call music, the other half has some great stuff, to the point of being differently better.

but where did the instruments go!? i like electronic music as much as the next guy but nowdays 'pop' has just simple beats in the background mainly focusing on a auto-tuned voice with shit lyrics pumping out albums with the only difference between is words!

  • @80smusiclover37 i dont mean to rant but i'm in agreeance with you, what happened to music being more then words? there's always your fair share of different music but to think it gets this popular? its a nutcase paradox

  • man you upload some great music black sabbath neil young thank you

  • emozione pura e i ricordi mi portano lontano grazie Neil !!! UN saluto a voi tutti che apprezzate questa poesia dell'anima!!! Non paragonatelo a nessuno Neil è Neil e basta !!! Un'abbraccio a tutti ciao !!!

  • I never comment on stuff but im very happy these songs have been uploaded

  • Best song ever!!!!

  • If I only knew the words!

  • me and mates and bands jam to this and its awsome

i think our version is better tbh

  • @crazicaddstudios I bet it's not

  • eccezionale

  • Should have got all the intro clapping.

  • wonderful

  • love it

  • Such a great song. One of my top 10 albums ever... Thanx for the upload.
