@AngryAnon 2-zero (no 6), yes I have. But never have I needed nor wanted to launch more than two missiles at one opponent unless it was a larger plane. Plus I believe the max missiles you could get on Ace Combat 5 for instance was around 88 with the X-02 Wyvern. I saw a screen flash I one of these trailers that said over 300. Im just saying its gone a tad too far. Also I was always a standoff fighter and it now looks like that is being lost with the emphasis on (too) close range combat.

You are fighting for the United Nations in this game, and thus the selectable aircraft come from various members of the UN. This is why you see Russian, German, and American planes being flown by the player in the trailer .

Find one case where an American pilot has flown a Luftwaffe Typhoon...

The story can't stop everytime you use a plane not flown by the US to switch pilot and explain you're flying as a new guy instead of the protagonist of the story. And if you don't want to fly in those planes then you can just select US ones to preserve the illusion for yourself.

@Alpha0727 No, the now retired (grounded Feb 2010, retired officially last week) Raptor was lacking in the manoeuvrability (and rust resistance) department compared to more Modern Aircraft such as the Eurofighter.

Plus there's the chance the US Airforce isn't flying (probably due to the fact you don't have any current generation fighters), seeing as you wouldn't share your Raptors we went and made our own; with Blackjack, Hookers and a lower price tag.

@Daemeous Where in the world did you find that the US RETIRED the entire fleet of F-22 Raptors? I found where they grounded the fleet in February. I also found that on May 3rd, the USAF grounded the F-22 fleet indefinitely because of issues with the planes' oxygen-generation system. They ordered a stand-down of the fleet, NOT a full blown retirement. Example: The F-117A Nighthawk was retired back in 2008. That means they are no longer in service. The F-22 Raptors are only grounded.

F-117A has never had a gun.

The problem with the Raptor is that it costs too much and that it isn't as versatile as other aircraft such as the Eurofighter since it's designed purely for air superiority, while the Eurofighter can fulfil a variety of roles. Also you can't really consider the Eurofighter a more modern aircraft.

@XxSTRlKERxX I was wrong with the facts about the Eurofighter being more modern, the newer Eurofighters use more modern equipment while the design is actually older. The Eurofighters manoeuvrability is superior due to it's lightweight nature and achieves a higher Thrust Per Weight than the Raptor both fully loaded and unloaded.

Don't sell the Raptor short though, while it is being used as an ASF it was designed to fill multiple roles, it's just limited in the way loadouts it can use.

@XxSTRlKERxX The aircraft are not restricted by what the pilot can do, Metalurgy has been a rather stalid science since the 50's and no aircraft can sustain 10G+ without needing a complete dress down afterwards. During that time, ergonomics for the cockpit have improved (the 30 degree seat angle in the F-16 being a prime example) and so have G-Suits. The Libelle allows pilots to match and exceed the G limits of the aircraft and they don't even need to do G strain manuevers to prevent G-Lock.

And the TVC on the Raptor is overrated. It's limited to pitch only and vectoring it takes time which means when using it to turn you're looking at overshooting the turn or taking longer due to having to decelerate at the end of it. Great for showing off, less practical for precision dogfighting.

It's a heavy plane with acceleration on it's turns...

@Daemeous Just no, you are incorrect on all counts. Why don't you actually bother learning something before shooting your mouth off. The Raptor has been going through BLOCK upgrades since 09'. And the Raptor's OBOGS issue is no worse then what happened to the Eagle recently with subpar wing struts during refits. As for the Raptor's TVC, Yaw control does not provide sufficent benefit over lost stealth with a redesigned exhaust nozzle. Plus all TVC is instant, check your facts before talking.

@Daemeous What this might mean is that the USAF might have to pull a few F-117A Nighthawks out of retirement to preform the their roll once more. The Nighthawks were replaced primarily by the Raptors. In any case, we have another 5-7 years before the F-35 Lightning II are introduced.

And yes, they can bring planes out of retirement. They have done it before with the SR-71 Blackbird. The US has multiple Aircraft graveyards all over the US that has planes able to be pressed back into service.
