I personally like the whale monster better than what we ended up with. The parasites are MUCH better in the movie, though (except they sound like an agitated Donald Duck). I've always wondered if that is an official design sketch or just some fan drawing.

@tmbttes well we aren't talking about a missle fight. and the actual definition of a monster is a creature with a strange or frightening appearence. true zilla got killed with a few missiles but this isn't a missile fight its a fight of melee between to gigantic creatures. now clover is very resistant to missiles but its because he's been living at the bottom of the ocean for centuries he's used to the pressure. but claws and teeth from zilla thats a different story

Cloverfield was not confirmed to be a baby, but what i do know is that there are hundreds of clovers underwater in eggs, and i also know that the sequel wont be about a mother searching for a baby clover, but the same events and a little later told from a different perspective.

Also clover didnt die, if you listen to the audio thats played at the end of the movie, and reverse it, someone is clearly saying "it's still alive"

Not being a smart aleck, but in listening to it carefully it sounds like an "old-school" style of "monster holler" in which a man would yell inside of a modified jug, barrel, or container within a few feet of a good quality microphone. Basically, that's how it was done with the old Disney, Warner Brothers, and Fleisher cartoons.
