i use nahkriin, arch mage robes, savos aren necklace, destruction ring and daedric arms and legs(legendary), and the aprentice stone blessing for extra regen, it works pretty well. plus morekei has really low armor for some reason thats y i switch to nahkriin :D

@TheVorgrimmler If you mean the Skyhaven temple then yea, it took me a while but I switched from mage to warrior. Not only that, but by constantly forging Iron daggers it levelled me up loads while levelling up my blacksmithing which let me make Deadric armor, there's loads of tutorials to further explain what I mean :)

@TheVorgrimmler an easy way to level is if u have the spell Soul Trap use it on a dead body over and over and it will increase your conjuration. Also if you have started The Horn quest at high Hrothgar dont get the horn just yet, go out and back in and use an iron dagger while crouched behind one of the greybeards. Then hit them over and over and your sneak will go up significantly. Trust me these ideas will level you up fast.

one thing: if you get ADEPT robes of any magic skill, it makes it so spells of the specific skill cost 17% less to cast, with 100% magicka regeneration

To start the quest just enter the college and walk to the guy giving a lesson then just do the quest

I made something way better. The staff of Magnus SUCKS because of the recharge rate it has, BUT what im using for my mage is A circlet, Falmer helmet, Mythic Dawn robe, DB gloves and boots, necklace and ring. my magicka regen is 207%. I have 75% destruction AND conjuration, double backstab, muffled movement. with 500 something magicka. ARCHMAGE ROBES ARE A JOKE.

With 100 Enchanting skill you can just make your own Mage Armor. Just enchant any 4 pieces of item with Fortify Destruction, Fortify Conjuration or both if you want. With each item reducing magicka cost by 25% you can basically spam spells free of charge.

This is best mid game armor. Definitely not the best mage armor ever. The best mage armor allows you to cast destruction spells with no mana cost. Just get 100% less mana used on destruction spells by legendary enchanting.

best staffs are found in ancient nord ruins. the dragon priests usually have awesome staffs. i dont think you can buy any staffs, you just get them in ruins.

@zibob1000 I believe it's the Deadric armour set, gained when you have the correct points in the smithing tree, 90+ on smithing and the ingredients (Deadric hearts and Ebony ingots) then enchant them how you will. I haven't played it much recently so I'm still working on it but apparently you're unstoppable :P

I think the best staff would depend on what "type" of mage you are and what spell you use a bit. Like, a Staff of Paralysis would be best for someone who uses paralyze quite a bit.

@MrJustsomerandomguy Starting out yes they are weak, the trick is to not let your opponent hit you, early on i highly suggest doing the greybeards quest where it teaches you to knock people away from you. So if they get close to you just shout knock them away they still have to get up so just fire away while they are down
