I've owned the DX7 twice, and was never into the sound of it... Now I have a Nord Lead 3, Korg Z1, Prophecy, Roland Juno 106 and Studio Electronics SE-1X. Let's just say that I haven't missed the DX7 at all.
Good but youd be better off getting a REAL HARDWARE DX7S for the same kind of money. It will do analogue type sounds the drums killers bass. And a patch I simply call THE SOUND. Possibly the greatest single sound ever in synth history I will demo it in the near future.
