I loved both novels, a lot of time when they go too deep into a villains backstory, the villain loses its credibility or freakishness, because now we know them and why they are. These two novels don't do that, they explore Joker's psyche in two ways and in both ways they manage to still leave Joker a mystery. I like to think that the Joker novel is a sequel of sorts to The Dark Knight(with Jokers story)
