  • Im here b cuz of the beatles but im on mobile so sorry to that 5 guy i cant thumbs u up

  • mind and happiness are correlated..true! when my mind is in trouble it is so hard to have some fun..

  • Sometimes the hardest thing for people to do is actually the easiest. And that is letting go. Maharishi in his book "Science of Being And Art of Living" says,' The technique requires no effort except innocence & simplicity. You must be devoid of intellectual play or emotional twist. You must surrender yourself to almighty nature. Then your mind goes in the direction of absolute bliss and finds increasing charm at every step of its march" You will evolve into a better and happier person.

  • I dont understand why people would need to pay for this? Why would it matter what mantra they give you, couldnt you just make up a word or sound if its only purpose is to distract you from your thoughts? Surely this is so simple a monkey could do it? Can anyone explain?

  • @MrHarrydash The mantra needs to have two important properties: First, it has to allow your mind to settle down to silence, to the source of thought. Second, it has to be suited to your individual physiology and psychology. TM teachers are trained to choose the correct mantra for each person, and the mantras are from an age-old tradition. Also, you need to learn how to use the mantra properly. Yes, it's very simple to practice TM, but it takes proper training to be able to teach it to everyone.

  • @MaharishiUniversity Ok, thanks! : )

  • @MaharishiUniversity yes i see that .. and i think people rarely take things seriously unless they pay .. so it isnt too bad to pay a little for expertise and involvement.

  • This is one of the most essential and profound explanations of the growth of life from the field of problems and suffering to the field of satisfaction, joy, and creativity. Transcendental Meditation is that effortless and natural procedure for exploring the inner field of pure, silent joy, the Self, twice a day. Thank you, Maharishi! -- David Spector, President, Natural Stress Relief/USA

  • where are the teachers?

  • @djindox3 Go to tm (dot) org and click on "Learn" and you'll be able to find a teacher in your area.

  • iv tried meditating but every time when i sit or lie down and relax and breath slowly, thats all good but i cant quite down my thoughts and they just run rampant, and i keep getting caught in never ending thoughts. can anyone tell me a good way so i can just keem my head clear and quite, so i can reach alpha state? is there any exprienced meditationers here who can give me some tips???????????????

  • @MrSF0011 Best advice: Learn from a trained teacher. In TM, your mind completely settles down. When you learn, you need a teacher; otherwise you'd have to constantly be figuring out what to do next and whether you're doing it right – and if you have to be thinking like that, no way your mind can settle down to silence. Once you know how to do it, then you meditate on your own. Sort of like learning to drive (but easier) – you're with the instructor at first but then you can be on your own.

  • @MrSF0011 Learn the TM technique. If you already did then my advice is to get a checking of your meditation. The thoughts are natural. In TM you don't TRY to quiet down your thoughts. You don't TRY anything. You don't TRY to meditate either. Thoughts happen, it's a natural part of the process. When you TRY you're not meditating.

  • does the teacher or student decide what your mantra is going to be?

  • @ilovetodrinkblood The teacher has been trained to select the correct sound (mantra) as part of the personal instruction.

  • yes being taught is very important i believe. one can attempt to learn from the internet or another person, but how would one know if the mantra is suited to ones own being? TM is so very wonderful and has the capacity to change ones life so a small financial investment and a couple of days applied learning really is a small price to pay....:) jai guru dev.

  • great explanation and info on the power of Transcendental Meditation by Maharishi himself

  • I just did this, so soothing its like floating down a funnel, im so calm so efficent it is like i am sleeping yet aware of my actions.

  • @TheSkyHasNoAnswers The sky has answers, yo.

  • thanks

  • how do i learn tm

  • thumbs up if ur here beacause of the beatles

  • @5thfemalebeatle you should have WAY more thumbs up than that...

  • @5thfemalebeatle Haha.thats cute Love & Light

  • Teehee his voice tickles my brain

  • And that's an honest question im not trying to sound ignorant or conversationally belligerent, just read it like a valid question, if you would be kind enough to do so for me.

  • @whatafag21 Great question.

in TM, the mind completely settles down to the silent source of thought. When you learn, you need a teacher because otherwise you'd have to constantly be figuring out what to do next and whether you're doing it right – your mind can't settle down to silence if you're thinking like that. Once you know how to do it, then you meditate on your own. Sort of like learning to drive (but easier) – you're with the instructor at first but then you can be on your own.

  • @MaharishiUniversity

I see... thank you very much I appreciate you taking time to answer my question. however I will remain semiskeptical until I find a teacher until then I'll try to develop my own way, being careful not to make habit of ruling things out until that day. Thanks again.

  • Do you REALLY need a teacher for this? We're all human.... would it not pay off more in the end to develop your own technique based of common TM principles? I don't know.... it seems like too personal and far too beautiful of a human experience to be told I NEED a teacher. It makes it seem.... Mechanical to me in a way, what with the, oh that's not right or the, yes you're doing it just like me good good. Theres always more to more, is there not? Is this question even answerable? if so please do

  • my TM teacher said Maharishi wanted people to be enlightened.

What does enlightenment in TM mean? I don't want to pretend I

    am God.

  • Great video - have to watch it over and over.

  • They say it is best to enrol on a course with a trained teacher, and not try from a video or book, would you tend to agree with this?

  • @BradBrassman Definitely yes. Transcendental Meditation takes the mind beyond thought, lets it settle down completely. If you have to be constantly thinking about what to do and whether you're doing it correctly, then your mind can't settle down and you won't transcend. So when you first learn, you need a trained teacher who can make sure you're meditating correctly and having good experiences.

  • meditation means following: first step-do not think of anything. second step-do not think of your obligation that you shouldn't think of anything. third, fourth fifth and etc steps are principally the same- your thought condition gets deeper and deeper until your thoughts (information in the brain) are absolutely stopped- nirvana.

  • @nokialeopardi And that's why you need a trained teacher -- you can't force your mind to settle down, you need a technique.

  • i significantly disagree with maharishi.

I think the nature of the mind is misery. In meditation we shut down the mind by letting go off of it and experience happiness that can only be gained through the absence of the mind. whenever our mind is active it corrupts, perverts, distorts everything and the more we let go the more we can experience bliss again.

  • @Rocky1990 Misery; that is your experience, so someone else can't question its validity. Like that, Maharishi's experience is one of Bliss. As we practice TM, the misery naturally leaves s Bliss/happiness is gained. Like darkness disappears when the light comes.

  • @Rocky1990 The mind varies from individual to individual

  • how do we use our mantra?? do we repeat it over and over in our heads?

  • @Yeaahright When you learn TM, your personal instructor will make sure that you have the correct mantra and are using it correctly. So if you've already learned TM, then go to your local TM center and ask to have your meditation checked.

  • A guitarist i like to listen to practices this type of meditation, he says it gives increases his speed, accuracy and focus when playing shows..i wanna get more into if thts the case lol..how and where can i learn how to do this?

  • @SyqLAWL The website tm (dot) org has lots of info about TM. On their home page, click "Learn to meditate". Also, students at MUM learn as part of their college classes; check out our website mum (dot) edu.

  • I wonder why it took me till i was 19 to even be introduced to transcendental meditation..

i have this book on MMY, and it was written by Jack Forem.

it pretty much enlightened me, and i feel that by the time i turn 21, i will have done great things for the world.
