To be a little more precise, Enid Markey, who had continued to work as an actress into her old age, appeared as a guest-star on "The Andy Griffiths Show" in the 1960s. She played the role of Barney Fife's landlady. She also appeared on "Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C", as Grandma Pyle. Her last film role was in "The Boston Stangler" (1968), with Tony Curtis.
Interesting! This seems very close to the book what with the notes Tarzan writes. Probably because the book was so well known then. I like the young Tarzan; the grown up one looks a bit silly to me with that bandana.
And that ape which abducted Jane (Terzok?) has been upgraded to Big Scary Black Man (TM). Well. 1918, I guess.
You right! I read 4 of the 27 books, and this movie shows very faithful to "Tarzan of the apes" one! And Terkoz was replaced, funny! I think Elmo Lincoln was a pretty big and strong Tarzan for 1918! I like Greystoke the 1984 version, the only thing was that Christopher Lambert is quite a slim dude, and Tarzan is described in the book as a muscular guy. I know is kinda silly, but I read Tarzan of the apes when my 5 y/o was a baby, and at night I went to the gym very inspired to workout, haha.
The complete Tarzan story first appeared in the Oct 1918 issue of All-Story magazine. The hard cover book was first published in Jun 1914. The film premiered in Jan 1918.
I'm not really sure what you mean by a 1980s "Series Tarzan". The Ron Ely Tarzan series was made in the mid-1960s, an animated series was made in the mid-1970s, and the next Tarzan series after that was the Wolf Larson series of the early-1990s.
cool

Jane went on to own a boarding house in Mayberry, NC, where she evicted Barney Fife for cooking in his room.
