  • MY NAMES NOT HANK!!!!!

  • Seasons of Love doesn't account for Leap Day or the impreciseness of the length of a year. 60 min in an hour x 24 hours in a day x 365 days in a year is, in fact, 525,600 minutes.

  • ok so..... what the F"CK was this video about?

  • Comment removed

  • O MY ROWLING ONE YEAR LATER

  • The climate is changing, but I believe, for the moment, our contribution to this is limited in the worst case. Co2 in excess of what our vegetation can convert back into oxygen is bad, but we're not releasing nearly enough for it to affect us yet. It'll take centuries before any serious increase in temperature.

This said, just because it's not a monumental issue right this second, doesn't mean we should act like it'll never become a problem. Research into alternative fuels is awesome.

  • umm what?

  • I wish I would've thought of the idea to take guilty peoples money to make them feel better about destroying the earth

  • YOU ARE EVIL!!!

  • You just blew my mind John...

  • New Zealand nerd fighter mother ucka!

  • Look John, I love Rent as much as the next man but...the number of minutes in a year is 525 948.766. I guess the cast were too busy being fabulous to notice.

  • @Javjean Bahahahaha, too busy being fabulous.

  • OH AND HOW CAN YOU FORGET THE YOUTUBE SERVERS TOO

  • Comment removed

  • Maple and brown sugar oatmeal heated with milk is just unbelievably delicious.

  • Still not as old as the doctor

  • My first thought is that Nerdfighteria is as old as a Time Lord. My second thought was that of "wow, it sucks that we put out so much carbon."

  • I'm a Swede! ;)

  • we need more carbon, this summer sucks.

  • yay he mentioned NZ but now I cant watch any more youtube :(

  • pause at 0:13!!!! LOL!!!!

  • WHY NO LINK TO THE CARBON OFFSET SITE?

  • I'm part Swedish.. So i'm nerdfighteria?

  • Huzzah! I am Nerdfighteria!!!

  • Five hundred, twenty-five thousand, six hundred minutes,

How do you measure, measure a year?

  • nerdfighteria is ALREADY... a swede:(

  • John, thanks for showing me that you don't have to be good at every nerdy thing to be a nerd.

Also, the captcha I had to fill out to post this was bulbras. I immediately imagined a bulbasaur in a bra.

  • wow. that's a lot of carbon. better switch to nuclear.

  • I may have a lack of decent grammar and spelling abilities. But at least I'm not insulting and rude like some folks are.

  • I have never understood how paying money to a corporation helps climate change. Especially when pushed by a hypocritical man that rides around with an entourage of Escalades- yes you Mr. Gore. Or after the email or hockey stick controversy. Those guys do not look like impartial scientist.

I doing it myself. I make the change, not some money grubbing corporation or self serving scientists or politicians. I'm glad John didn't pay for my carbon, I am taking care of it myself.

  • Someday Henry is going to watch this video and say, "Hey dad, where are my 5000 dollars?"

  • 812 years for these guys! I'm going to go figure out SSoHPKC's views

  • @OhLookItsLizzie Dear lord, that's my birthday!

  • Watts and kilo watts are power, not energy :S

    one Watt= 1 Joule/second. I think you're talking about Watt hours (Joules/second)x(hours)

  • Nerdfighteria is already a Swede.

  • i swear when you pay to become carbon neutral the companies just take a massive block of carbon and throw it in the sea.

  • 0:20

Henry is going to grow up some day, and want to watch all of VlogBrothers..

  • Up to 194 million views.

  • I remember when they were 16. Actually, I don't, because I wasn't a nerdfighter then, but whatever.

  • HEY JOHN MY SOCIAL STUDIES TEACHER CAME TO YOUR SHOW AT WESTLAKE HIGH SCHOOL! WE WATCHED YOUR FRENVH REVOLUTION VIDEOS IN CLASS AND WE ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! THANKS SO MUCH WE LOVE YOU!

  • Oh my goodness, he's seen Rent, wow.

  • Our power comes from a hydro power plant.

  • sometimes i just can't follow what the bleep you're saying...but i LOVE this!

  • Im from New Zealand and the suck here is changing everything. now instead of choosing a university from how awesome it is, i have to think how likely it will be that the ground will move ahhh

  • 8/12 is my birthday..... -collective gasp-

  • random fact: I have 812 tattooed on my right arm

  • Yes, but what about a 812 year old Swede?

  • @GeekWill That would be a Time Lord, not a Swede.

  • Be my teacher!!!!

  • @JustBallax He will be your teacher soon. At least kind of^^

  • A year is actually 525960 minutes. that's why we have leap years.

  • Speaking of Rent, do you think Maureen Johnson's parents were aware that they were naming their daughter after a bisexual performance artist?

  • I AM NERDFIGHTERIA, BECAUSE I AM A SWEDE.

  • @MsTobbelisa That makes two of us :D

  • @neverthink92 hahaha yay :)

  • I can't find the mystery of Gussie Manlove. You have no idea how greatly this saddens me.

  • heh.. dooblydoo... heh...

  • at least we don't use coal in many places any more here

  • i beg all fellow nerdfighters to check out my videos. DFTBA

  • ...I am lost.

  • holy shit. mind blown.

  • SWEDEN!

  • "3. Hank, i should probably button this button. We're running a video blog here, not a porn studio." i just love you John.

  • @pbjellybeanful your not the only 1 8D

  • Hello time lord

  • My house is powered by renewable energy and has a 5 star energy rating... so you can take away my part....(im also on a eeepc laptop which uses very little power)

  • i wish i was as smart as you!

  • HE MENTIONED NEW ZEALAND YUSS!

We are going up in the world fellow Kiwis!

  • Dangit John, I hate when I notice how handsome you look in your unbuttoned shirt.

And then you go and button up your shirt.

  • How does giving money to a website off set your carbon ?

  • @hobbitno12 They put the money that you give them into buying land and putting trees on them or creating renewable energy....

  • no i wasnt kidding this is my first time watching one of his videos i was brought here by some Doctor Who vids

  • it blanked out, so i was about to go... then i heard NEW ZEALAND!! and scrolled back up

  • Comment removed

  • What if I'm using my iPad, does the math still turn out right?!?

  • why does he keep saying hank

  • @Kakureen Hank is his brother. they kinda make these videos to other. dftba!

  • @Kakureen are you.. kidding?

  • @Kakureen hahahahahaha

  • @Gaaralover432 but even if i'd watch this on my computer, my phone would stil be in the loader, so I would use energy to charge my phone and power my computer

  • wow, since then they have gained over 60,000,000 views

  • Crap, I need to do my homework. STOP BEING SO INTERESTING. D:

  • Not everybody is watching on their computer... I, as an example, am currently watching your videos on my smartphone

  • @markieniemanie But I'm sure charging that battery to 100% over and over, after draining it watching these videos, isn't any better D:

...a-and if you leave the charger plugged into an outlet all day.....

  • french the llama, that was weird... at the end whn hes all "pay ATTENTION," i had just turned away to try to pick some crap up from off my floor... he totally just saw THROUGH the screen...

  • because you've seen Rent? :)

  • Whoops, extra "were" o_O

  • Were, we're all one awesome Swede! XD

  • you can take me off the list. i use solar panels.

  • dude u drink too much coffee

  • @MickeyLS haha you should see Hank. You'll think he only lives on coffee and Redbull. Combined.

  • @BalrogNinja what do you mean? he's making coffee with redbull!!

  • @MickeyLS Dude, you have a lack of decent grammar and spelling abilities.

  • I seriously looked for this video for a week. Simply because of 0:19

  • I'm singing that song in chorus! (525,600 minutes)

  • Ahhh! John green mentioned New Zealand! I'm from New Zealand!

  • Thank you from NZ! <3

  • 1:12-1:15 I learned that in sixth grade!

  • Sooo this is where all the nerds live <3

  • I may have replayed the part where you said New Zealand about 11 times :D

  • we are killing the earth right now but im using an itoutch to do this and i rarely recharge so i think im pretty good as far as you tube goes

  • Holy Crap! He blinked at 3:17

  • Link's in the what now?

  • THE PRICE OF AWESOME

that could be a band... or a book... or something...

  • Wow! Yah i was planing to watch all the vides in one day(i thought it was possible). I'm gonna have to take 812 years to do so. Math is my weak point so if i'm wrong. I'm so sorry. I'm not that smart i just enjoy things that nerds do.

  • @potterlife1 no that's the total amount of time that every viewer ever has watched vlogbrothers for

  • @Mrhappyemomuffin See itold you i was bad at math and smetimes Jhon cofusses me but to make up for this i've never gotten a B on a report card and all my other subjects are usualy 100's. Tadah!

  • John the fact you suck at math makes me feel not so bad for sucking at math. I suck at math BIG TIIME, and for a wile I thought I couldn't consider myself to be a nerd because I was never good at math. Hell, I'm going to art school to be a designer! thats pretty nerdy to me.

  • What's a sweed?

  • @nizzlewhizzle the opposite of a kiwi

  • @nizzlewhizzle Fredrik Reinfeldt in a tweed jacket.

  • @nizzlewhizzle A person from Sweden! like me!

  • YAY for Kiwi Nerdfighters!

  • That's right Hank, Nerfighteria is already a Sweed." lol :D

  • I'm a new Zealand nerdfighter and I'm just glad that you support all nerdfighters around the globe not just the ones in America :D

  • Hey! I'm a nerdfighter from New Zealand!

    Awesome.

  • I'm a Swede...

  • WOw...he did all of that without calling Daniel Biss?

  • @funnypets456 Yeah, right? I was expecting him to call throughout the entire math process. XD

  • @monimoni0147 C'est l'intervalle [Bahrain, Morocco[ and Libya belongs to it but not Morocco

But it's the first ever Morocco being mentioned (I think), so let's not be picky ^^ DFTBA

  • I wonder how many pounds of carbon a Swede would produce if they lived to be 812.

  • Ohlo, John and Hank! I have just done the math for how old Nerdfighteria is... It is now currently more than 1,224 years old! That means that Nerdfighteria is responsible for using almost 1737645.75 pounds of carbon! D:

  • Nerdfighteria is a sneed, and a sneed is what everyone needs.

Yes, I made a Dr. Seuss reference.

  • Still not as old as The Doctor.

  • @OwlCityFan26 BEST COMMENT EVER!!!!

    -SUGARBABIES :D

  • @OwlCityFan26 omg.... i'm pretty sure you're subscribed to me. and with this comment you just became my favorite subscriber.

  • @TheJollynerd haha thanks :)

  • @OwlCityFan26 I tried to go back to the old serieses and find the age of the Doctor. He was over 1000 at the 7th regeneration if I remember correctly. Thought I'd share that information :)

  • @OwlCityFan26 And definitely not as old as Rory Williams.

  • @OwlCityFan26 I love this comment.

  • I like how he is terrible at math BUT HE STILL DOES IT. Yess.

I, for one, welcome our agglomeration into one Giant Swede.

Jag välkomnar våra tätorter till en Giant svenska kille.

  • @sugarpeepsez What?

  • @Ziklos2 Google translate translation of "i welcome our agglomeration in to a giant swedish guy," Although, I think "svenska" is the language, not the ethnicity, so maybe "till en enorm svensk kille"? I don't speaka the Swedish, and I was afraid of accidentally saying something dirty.

  • @sugarpeepsez fyi, "tätorter" = "suburbs". And it's hard to say something dirty, usually the grammar is just straight to hell if you use Google Translate.

  • @Ziklos2 Okay, I'll bite - how do you say "agglomerate" in Svenska?

  • @sugarpeepsez For me, it's rare word, never heard/seen it before. It means "to collect or gather into a cluster or mass."

In Swedish that can be: Bunta ihop, gyttra ihop (also uncommon), tränga ihop, klumpa ihop, samla ihop.

  • @Ziklos2 Oh! Thank you! Do any of your fine suggestions imply parts that are pushed together and then stick? AGGLOMERATION sounds like the English "glom" to sieze/catch/get hold of, and "glob," a large round mass of something, usually damp or sticky.

  • @sugarpeepsez "Bunta ihop" and "klumpa ihop" both fits that criteria but "klumpa ihop" is the best and most usual to use.

  • @Ziklos2 I like the way "klumpa ihop" sounds when the Google Translation lady says it. I will now go forth and find situations in which I can klumpa ihop things, so I can announce the action in Swedish.

You've been such a help; over and above - thanks!

  • yay nerdfighteria is swedish!!!

  • I say the nerdfighters learn to make computers that run totally on awesome. Lets work on that. :o

  • @TheKatie144 And you will be able to download bacon onto them, right?

  • @TheKatie144 That' actually not an entirely unreasonable request...

  • 120 watts per hour??? (120J/s)/hour

  • You buttoned that button with 1 hand

    ...

    HOW!?

  • Nerdfighteria, is already... a Swede.

  • If nerdfighteria was in narnia that whole time it would only be gone (roughly) a month in the real world.

  • I imagine I'm not the first person to point this out, but I'm not reading the previous 2000 posts to find out...

In the same way that distance is not the same thing as speed, energy is not the same thing as power! "Watts per hour" doesn't make an awful lot of sense (that sounds like the electrical equivalent of acceleration) and when you say 1.35lbs of carbon produces 1KW that demands the question "for how long?"

    Energy = Power x Time

  • @marquoth Also, just a general piece of advice for when you're doing anything vaguely science/maths related.. avoid imperial measurements - or "briddish" units, as you more likely call them - entirely. They are generally clunky and unhelpful and it gets even worse if you have to start converting back and forth. I direct your attention to the case of the Mars Climate Orbiter, which was destroyed in what NASA called "the metric mix-up." Seriously, what the hell is a foot-pound?

  • I watched until he said 812 years old....that's it

  • as of 3rd of august 2011 to pay off youtubes carbon footprint it would cost 42,162,491,250,000,000 USD

  • Comment removed

  • Nerdfighteria is a adolescent Time Lord

  • Wait.

    Waitwaitwait.

We're 812? And according to a Nerdfighter comment in the video before this, I believe with Nerdfighteria's population, we'd be the 167th largest country or something...

    And...

I'm just saying, as a History major that kinda hates American history (who is also American; funny how that works)...

Nerdfighteria, in essence, has more history and is older than America.

    This...makes me happy inside

    *does happy dance*

  • Rent!

  • RENT!

  • @imaketwinks mabey the purmutation of this is due to the legitamite and serious nature of the issue. Just saying

  • Where does John live?

  • @broadwaykid96 Indianapolis, Indiana :) DFTBA

  • 1:13-1:14 I've known that since the 6th grade.

  • You're a funny guy and all, and I don't dislike your videos, but seriously? This whole 'Climate Change', 'Global Warming' shit is wrong and over-hyped to hell. It's fine that people believe in something, even if it's wrong, but damn, I can't do anything in a day to avoid hearing all of this crap. Daily, I will hear this shit, no matter where I go or what I do, it's unavoidable. This does NOT need nor deserve to be on youtube, I don't care if the video is 4 months old or four minutes old. Damn.

  • Laughed so hard when you said "since I've seen Rent..."
