According to wikipedia, both Hikaru and Misa Hayase are Japanese. In the Robotech, their name became Rick hunter and Lisa Hayes. Are they Americans or British in Robotech or are they still Japanese but with English name? I'm just curious.

@CaptainGaruda They're both American. Admiral Hayes served in the US Navy during the Global Civil War. At some point, Gloval (who is Russian in Robotech) was also serving with Hayes, pointing out that the war wasn't really a result of the Cold War, per se. At least, that's how I remember it.

An interesting thing about the writing is we see how Rick and Lisa's relationship developes over time. They always end up talking to each other talking about things that are of a personal nature so we see their closer to each other then they both realize. Think about it all good relationships start by being able to talk to each other.
