Just in case you guys did'nt know the porsche is a H6 3.6-liter flat-six naturaly aspirated, which means it's not turbo charged, I read a few comments saying 4 cyl. eclipse 8cly. porsche. To my knowledge 911's have always been flat 6's not v8's.

1/4 mile runs or just about any types of races, a moded car regardless of make could beat a stock sports car. However, in this case you're still left with a "girls car"- (eclipse) regardless of specs. I bet a modded yugo could smoke both, but who would want that as there daily driver? First off if you know anything about the eclipse you should know the the they all are able to use the GSX body kit so you really wouldn't know the difference in the look till they actually hit the track.

I retract my previous statement's, the 2001 eclipse did not have awd. All in all having the move powerfull car dose not always matter, drivers can make the biggest differance. A unexpeirenced driver can make a 12 secound car a 16 secound car, I love the carrera and hope it was driver error but know it probably wasn't.-peace out.

eitherway you look at it the eclpse might be faster but it will never look as good as the porsche, Oh and you can buy a used carrera for under 30,000 with a decent amount of miles.

in 2000 they stopped production of awd eclipse. 2000-2009 models are all front wheel drive...the ralliart eclipse is awd but thats a 4th gen.

3rd gen eclipse rs and gs 4g64 is roughly between 140-150hp

the gt and gts range between 200-210 hp

its possible to put an awd set up on a third gen. the evo and the eclipse have interchangeable parts

lol my 2001 eclipse spyder GT is a V6 auto transmition and the only engine mod is the AEM cold air intake!!! and it was in the car when i bought it used 1 year ago!!! it has 82k miles on it and i think its about time i droped a few mods in it!!! my baby needs some engine mods and maybe a good body kit!!! lol never would have thaught a eclipse could run with a carrera! lol who knew?

dont get me wrong, i dont have anything against 4 cyl, here is the thing though i work with cars daily and there is one thing i noticed in motors after being modified, it is possible to make a small motor push out 400 to 500 horses but the problem with them is they have a spike in their power because they cant spool up their turbos fast enough soo what happens is they hit certian rpms and have a big spike in power where their turbo kicks in, whereas larger motors have a constant flow of power

Wait... what? Not the case at all. With a built 4-banger and the right size turbo, lag isn't a problem. I spool at 2500 rpms, but I leave the hole at 5750 RPMs with 15 PSI before the wheels even start turning. Proper fuel tuning lets me hold it all the way to wherever I shift. Watch a video of mine and see what a measly 121 cu. in. can do (that's what she said). I don't do it professionally because then I'd become biased.

What are you talking about? A properly tuned car WILL produce a constant 500 horsepower. That power surge you're talking about is turbo lag, which is a bitch, but the bitch can be tamed with tuning, and not being a useless driver. Of course, I say that a small engine can make 500 horsepower constantly.

I'm just pointing out that small engines can and will be able to keep up with/surpass larger ones with the proper work and tuning.
