What the campells did in their effort to uncover the truth about the incident of flight 811 is very honorable. i'll share with you my deepest respect..But in my opinion it should not be necassary. Through the episode of ACI, it occurs that in many of the cases it has been avoidable disasters. But the airline companies has deliberately ignored crucial errors and put peoples life at stake - And this is heartbreaking and truly unhuman! how can you put a price on a soul ?

I have seen so many ACI episode and i never thought for a second about quality of investigation NTSB carries out. But this episode changed my view. Had there been no Campbells there would have been many more ACI episodes for one simple reason.

Kudos to Campbells, RIP to Lee and shame to NTSB.

This certainly sheds a different light on the quality of NTSB investigation and reports of which I thought they have a high reputation. Most incidents had no Campbells to double-check for the *real* reasons. Conclusion: We need more Campbells.

@Shardith When travelling with airline companies the common people must rely on that safety is the absolute first priority - Because you are never briefed on the status of the aircraft before choosing to board or not. But as it occurs, some airline companies choose to benefit from the fact that only they know. how devestating is that? Someone should be held responsible in cases like this..

I disagree, people want to travel and there is no safer, cheaper or faster way to do it then though air travel. Everyone is aware of the dangerous element of flying, but choose to do it anyway. It's a gamble, and you know what you are getting yourself into. If your not happy with the way airlines conduct buisness, hire a private jet company that's your option as well.

So are you implying that those who are not in a position of privilege (esp. financially) should just accept a lower standard of care with regards to their travel safety? The airline industry is vital to global economics and airlines make a hefty profit for what they do. Upholding their legal responsibility of a proper standard of care for their clients should not be too much to ask.

Who does NTSB answer to? If another fatal event occured as a result of their lack of willingness to admit that the fault lied in the aircraft design (rather than mishandling by ground crew), NTSB should also be investigated and reprimanded for their substandard report.

Who we as a society should demand be made responsible for malfeasance, cover-ups and cooking the books is NOT just companies or agencies but the responsible individuals therein. An organization e.g. an NTSB is a bureaucracy, an inanimate object - it cannot make decisions; people make decisions.

There was a jackass or at most a committee of jackasses at the NTSB who knowingly deliberately decided to ignore the truth with potentially deadly consequences. They each deserve criminal prosecution.
