It is cool that you can do something like that. However lets not forget this is by no means an energy source, you obviously expend more energy extracting the fuel than the energy content in the fuel, thus producing even more pollution.
@Ramiromasters Actually.. Enthalpy of polymerization is -94 kJ/mol for ethylene thus it's 94 for depolymerization (that much isn't actually used because its done only so far to get diesel ~c12, not c2). Burning diesel will give you about 7,6 MJ/mol.. Of course there are lots of losses in the pyrolysis but still this is very promising. Now we need to develop a method for separating plastics from landfill waste!
@mazabi22 I still see loss of power, though I could be wrong. There has been many models of this machine, some use pure heat and pressure, witch is expending energy already by bringing the plastic to site, heat up container, and disposing waste. The others use chemical energy that just depletes other sources of energy and are very toxic.
But I mean if there is an oil collapse, and I'm in my survivor farm thinking how to get my truck to do a couple jobs, sure lol nice artifact.
Would you contact me for a possible project, pls? Thanks. PS: Where did you get your "aluminum oxide bricks" from [read from your post on energeticforum ]???
Put that excess gas into an internal combustion engine to create electricity! Or find a way to use it to heat the reactor to aid the electric heating elements! Nice work!!! What gallon is that barrel?
The Old God Bless the Inventor! :-) This invention with Chris Robinson developed extra GEET technology, will create an easy transition from the gasoline technology to the water energy technology.
i ve tried d same thing in my home..d smell was horrible.. there s no smoke in the fuel.. i got crude oil first then after fractional distillation i got a clear fuel.. i tried with an catalyst(an substance used for water purification) which gives better yield..
I've wondered about color of the fuel you've produced. Does it need to filter the fuel with a carbon-coal filter to remove char particles and obtain a clear yellow color?
Lawn furniture, plastic buckets, old toys can be used to make fuel. Use caution some plastic has cadmium mixed in and other chemicals. I'm not sure what happens to them? You would not want to contaminate your land with cadmium. Household plastic containers do not.
If you cooled all the fuel through a larger "bubbler" wouldn't the end product be a bit more clean? The Expensive japanese system does this(I think) and it looks darn clear. Also, wouldn't it be cool to use the gas you are burning to, in turn, heat the "reactor." I realize temperature control is more difficult in this situation.
Also, what is left in the reactor? Carbon black? Nothing?
Super!
Thanks :) This really works like a charm and is super simple. The details are described on energeticforum, just use google and you will find the needed thread. It is called "How to turn plastic waste into diesel fuel cheaply"
This is a very nice setup you have here. Would you mind sharing how you got it together? I would really like to get something like this going. I am building a diesel generator, and I think this is a way that I can use it to go off-grid.

But cool once more! lol

Might it be possible to use solar energy to heat the feedstock of plastic?
Search for "solar fire" on YouTube for low cost high heat solutions.

i ve done d same project in BE. i used catalysts to yield better oil...

What catalysts did you use for better yield? Thanks!

How does this stuff affect a diesel engine (cars and trucks)?
Does it void the warranties of the cars' engines?
Thanks!

Glad to see I am not the only one doing this.
I run mine through a centrifuge to get the ash out afterwards.
carbogger 1 year ago
@carbogger What kind of goo do you find in the centrifuge afterward, and how clear is your product? Have any photos or video? Thanks!
