He had a quality that very few had. I feel fortunate to have seen him live many times in NYC. Once you saw him you were hooked. It was like your own personal church. His intensity, timing, technique, passion and feeling were the closet you'd find to seeing the original bluesman. His rhythm playing was like a fright train about you run you over! Probably one of the greatest rhythm players of all time.
Boy, somehow I am not familiar with John Campbell. Just happened on this video while listening to other blues artists on YouTube. My god, he is a tour de force guitarist. This is awesome and enlightened playing and I'll do my best to seek out more of his stuff. Its a little scary that a guy of this magnitude might not have gotten adequate recognition. 3,500 hits is nothing. RIP
The complete musician..I only wish we had more of his talent captured on video. It's just the mark of a great guitarist that he stuck to acoustic instruments to get his sound, amped or unplugged. Great voice, technically an explorer, and a solid songwriter..they don't get any better than John Campbell.
Amazing!
This is maximum skill, and to come up with this is just unbeliveble!

Great upload. It was a sad day when the world lost JC. One of his CD's is almost impossible to track down -... time for a re-release???
