I suggest not performing any swinging motion during the excersize, I can easily preform 6-12 reps of 50 lbs only moving my arms. a weakling can perform this similar manouvre since it uses everything EXCEPT arm muscles and will lead to permanant injuries. consult a fitness professional or learn proper form before attempting this sort of excersize

Working out with larger weights and maybe cheating a little on the last reps will hell of a lot work that muscle better than waggling around with little weight while maintaining proper form.

Guys your form isn't good. your gonna get injured and its barely working your biceps. just go down to like 50 and keep your back straight and work your way back up. I'm not saying its not impressive but it would be even more impressive to see less weight and good form

I'm currently doing this on my bicep workout and it's great, I find it more effective than concentration curls. I guess we should stick to the weight that we could handle well, a heavy weight but improper curls wont give a good result.

I don't think the bicep was worked out good with that momentum, looks more like back with some bicep stimulation but not full flex/full extension. A bit less weight would answer this question.

@NoirHammer Yeah, isolating the weight is the way to go. No jerking motions to assist the lifting of the weight. Not many people know this, so it will look impressive around people who don't lift, but it could fuck your shit up in the long run.
Yes I do. Ofcourse you're using your biceps, but NOT primary, just seconday. So for bigger biceps? No, do dumbbell curls or burbell curls instead. Its like when you do bench press, its an exercise for chest but your triceps are also involved...
And why are hammer curls so important? i mostly avoid these type of curls because there's something strange going on in my forearm (right side) when performing these hammer curls. Some sort of tendon or muscle flipping over a bone or something, feels not good...
If an exercise doesn't feel good, than don't do it. Not exercise works for every body. There are dozens of other bicep exercises you can do besides hammer curls.
It's not a direct bench press assistance exercise. But getting stronger all over in the arms, back, grip, etc. will help with stability and support during the bench press and other pressing moves.

Another kid trying to be large. If you perform this exercise in a right way, your biceps will get bigger and you don't have to be insecure about your body anymore. It's essential to have the correct mindset and the will and motivation to work hard in the gym to get big. Obviously, you are missing something very valuable in order to reach your goals, and i understand that anger is something you express when you feel insecure. Just work hard man, you will reach your goals.
@fighttuts try doing an alternating bicep curl, where you start out in a hammer curl and half way turn your thumbs out so your palms and weight is facing upwards and finish the rep from there. See how that feels.

Whats the big deal with form? I mean, isn't the point of good form to not hurt yourself and to not work much other than your target muscles? I think the point is to not totally cheat. I don't a little bit of cheating is a problem, as long it's working out.
@RaidenTheAlmighty also to maximize your workout. if you are doing 15 reps by swinging the weights, you would get a better workout to do 10 with good form. wasted movement is a waste of time imo. work out on the way up and work out on the way down. or else you are only getting half the workout.

I think everyone's body is different. I can't get much growth unless it is a slow and controlled movement with moderate heavy weight. It gives me a better stretch and pump. But 95 and 80 for hammers? That's just crazy heavy lol

leaning forward as seen in this video is a good way to lose range of motion and isolation. if that's what you're looking for than by all means lol. i see guys doing this style and it relies heavily on shoulder strength and momentum.

The way you curled those dumbells in this video looked as though you wasted your time. You used momentum to lift them rather than the actual muscle.
This comment probably means fuck all to you but if even i can notice a flaw you should probably take a stab at working the muscle slowly and controlling your form.

I have always been a hard-gainer in the arms, but let me tell you, heavy hammer curls are the way to go. You have to cheat a little but the extra stress on the arms works wonders. Also, heavy barbell curls hurt my wrists, but these don't.

lee has it right, he has that natural look,like he didnt have to work out for his physic like he was born with it. I prefer that then to look like i spend all my extra time in the gym. I prefer for woman to say he must naturaly have a nice body. it just looks like you have good genetics, plus i love to eat, im not givin up my hamburger that easy. thanks lee

Whats the big deal with form? I mean, isn't the point of good form to not hurt yourself and to not work much other than your target muscles? I think the point is to not totally cheat. I don't a little bit of cheating is a problem, as long it's working out.

@RaidenTheAlmighty also to maximize your workout. if you are doing 15 reps by swinging the weights, you would get a better workout to do 10 with good form. wasted movement is a waste of time imo. work out on the way up and work out on the way down. or else you are only getting half the workout.

I think everyone's body is different. I can't get much growth unless it is a slow and controlled movement with moderate heavy weight. It gives me a better stretch and pump. But 95 and 80 for hammers? That's just crazy heavy lol

leaning forward as seen in this video is a good way to lose range of motion and isolation. if that's what you're looking for than by all means lol. i see guys doing this style and it relies heavily on shoulder strength and momentum.

crazy fools, if he's holding 160 pounds in front of him it's pretty hard to keep your back in one stiff position when moving that weight through space, unless he super glued himself to the wall or had a metal pipe going through his arse to his head. SO yea Lee go get a metal pole to keep your form in tip top shape, shouldn't look out of place at all

The way you curled those dumbells in this video looked as though you wasted your time. You used momentum to lift them rather than the actual muscle.
This comment probably means fuck all to you but if even i can notice a flaw you should probably take a stab at working the muscle slowly and controlling your form.
Perhaps i'm wrong, and you've already tried a slower technique? Everyones different, we all need different techniques and shit.

I have always been a hard-gainer in the arms, but let me tell you, heavy hammer curls are the way to go. You have to cheat a little but the extra stress on the arms works wonders. Also, heavy barbell curls hurt my wrists, but these don't.

Wtf I didn't know hammer curls existed. I always thought it's only bicep curls that increases strength. All these months I have been struggling to pull 40 pound dumbbells all the way up for 10 reps/3 sets when I could have just done hammer curls and gained strength the easy way. :|
