Thanks for posting this--Mike's first solo record is one of my favorites, and to see video from that session is great. Hearing the EWI licks at the end of the video, I'm pretty sure those are from the take that ended up on the record.
Mr. Kilgore; Thanks so much for posting this. I was shocked to see a video document of what I consider to be one of the finest records in Jazz marrying electric and acoustic instruments so organically- let alone so emotionally. This brought me right back to the first time I heard the CD.
You're right, man...I went back and listened to the tune and Pat did solo! I stand corrected. Love Pat's tone here; I don't know though...I think I like Pat's Ideas I hear on this Youtube rehearsal version a little better.
You mean this particular version? They DID include the tune on Michael Brecker's self-titled album, and Pat does solo on it (beautifully)...great tune isn't it! One of those ones that has that quality to it of sounding really simple and singable, yet there is an incredible amount of really interesting stuff going on, on many levels...
Thanks for that. Good to also see the closing take that made it to the album.
Also, thanks a million for clearing up one of the long standing mysteries in my life: how Brecker got the EWI to play those seemingly random polytones from a single note.
Awesome Video. Youtube can be a great asset for you. If you need any help getting your video exposed check out this site called sl8t.(com) It has really done wonders for me, I have built 3 channels up with videos at top in position, this is my forth channel I'm going to working on now.
Sorry for the parenthesis around the com, some reason Youtube will not let you give an actual address in a comment. Real weird. Have a Blessed day!
RIP Micheal and Kenny. Such a timeless session!

Friggin' awesome! Thanks Robby. Can't believe he made the instrument switches live. I would have done in a half dozen takes! He remains the MASTER!

Unfortunately the light was very low, so I've had to boost the video to lighten things up. That's why it looks so washed out.
