  • 'didn't really move me emotionally' - this fat poof was probably jerking off so hard to Juno throughout the whole movie that he could not hear the movie dialogue over his loud fapping

  • Totally disagree with Matt about the characters. I was emotionally invested in seeing whether or not Cobb gets to see his children again. That was the main emotional center for the film. I'm actually baffled that Matt, or anyone for that matter, missed that...

  • My rating 100 OUT OF 10.

  • Nolan never wanted his audience to go into tears, Inception is about self-discovery. Stop complaining about how you didn't feel that "emotional". INCEPTION is the best film ever.

  • If, "The Prestige" is your weakest movie, then you're fucking doing it right.

  • I disagree with the guy on the right, I thought it had a great emotional pull to it. In fact, the entire movie revolves around the emotional depth of Leo's character, and the ending isn't important at all without Leo as Cobb. I think Leo can sometimes be a little wooden, but that fit the character of Cobb, who doesn't really want to reveal much about himself, and its true that Nolan's characters are emotionally distant, but that is exactly what makes his characters so engrossing.

  • a question about this movie. in the scene where the team is on the plane, cobb drugs fischer then grabs something from the overhead compartment when he is asleep, throwing it down on fishers lap. what was it that was thrown onto his lap?

  • @lIpapercutIl A blanket. Cobb is making sure Fischer is asleep from the drugs, nothing more.

  • Avatar wasnt special, we HAD seen it before. It was called Pocahontas...

  • @Ha1frican Ya but was Pocashontas in 3D?

    Checkmate

  • As much as I think the movie deserves the glowing reviews it received, I was really glad to finally hear someone (Matt) articulate what is repeatedly wrong with Nolan's films. They often do feel like intellectual exercises that are somehow emotionally detached.

  • i just watched it, fucked up

  • Great movie? (8/10) Yes.

    Fantastic movie? (9/10) Yes.

About perfect movie? (10/10) Weeeell, I don't think so...

  • 5:42 He just broke the first rule of Fight Club!

  • watch?v=KRfc7NYyuWU

inception is how I got a date to prom...

  • why the face ??? ha

  • How did they snub Christopher Nolan for the Oscar????

  • how did his relationship with his kids not make it seem passionate especially at the end OMFG!

  • GREAT.. GREAT MOVIE.... People say u need to watch a few times to understand, but I got it all in one viewing, but that does not mean I won't go back and watch it again, I will probably enjoy it a 2nd time.

  • Dennis Quaid in Dreamscape FTW

  • 'You could hear people thinking', I seriously think people confuse paying attention with 'thinking' in regards to inception, When I saw it yes i was in deep thought but only because I was trying to keep track with all the information thrown at me and all the various rules they gave us. I wasnt sitting there thinking how this film changes my views on life or what profund statement the director was trying to say. A true film that makes you think does these things

  • I hate this review only because they diss Fight Club...Eat Shit..

  • @Jman64

What are you talking about? They did not diss Fight Club.

  • 18:31 Windows Media Player for a split second. It makes me think about how this show is produced, not in a bad way.

  • i really disliked inception.. they rushed through a 2 and a half hour movie :| yeah its how it sounds. going through these levels of dreams is so hard! yet they do it on the first try :| this movie was silly and it ripped off the cell and countless other movies in the same fashion district 9 ripped off aien nation. :| yes it was shot great but the plot was stupid.

  • you're a dumbshit if you don't feel any passion for the characters.

They all play all their parts perfectly, and amazingly. I have no idea how you can't have feelings for the character, sorry it's not a gay porno.

  • I had to stop this when that fat fuck with the gimped-up, gelled hair and even more emasculating shirt put the masterpiece "Inception" on the level of that piece of goddamn shit known as "Avatar."

  • Avatar + Inception = MindFucking awesome.

  • I agree with the majority of what you guys said, but Avatar = refreshing and new? No. Just no. One word: Pocahontas.

  • @gaaraanime5 Three more words: Dances With Wolves

  • @Hellzyead Three more words: The Last Samurai

  • @gaaraanime5 The Last Samurai was terrible to begin with...it's on the same piece of shit level as Avatar.

  • @Hellzyead The Last Samurai was one of the most emotionally impacting movies I've ever seen. Why do you hate it?

  • @gaaraanime5 Let's face it, "Avatar" was worthless...at best.

  • modern day stanley kubrick? shut the fuck up

oh, and this movie was really simplistic and lame

  • @kitchen867 Uh... Simplistic? REALLY??? Do you even know what your saying??? Well... I do agree that Nolan is not a modern day Kubrick, and that's not a criticism. Kubrick made films like 2001: A Space Odyssey, where most of the film comes down to the creative interpretation of the viewer. Nolan makes films like Momento, and of course Inception, where the details are all there, you just have to piece them together. Both are incredibly satisfying in their own right.

  • @iamtherobot5000 but what did you find satisfying? I felt inception did a poor job exploring the nature of reality - thematic material like that deserves more than a by the numbers caper flick, filled with silly rules and endless car chases and gun fights. The characters were flat, so caring about Leo losing his wife to lego land was out the window for me, but I did have a good laugh at the dream within a dream within a dream idea. lol. so stupid.

  • @Graham6762 AHHAHAHAHHAH u sir have no taste in movies unbelieveable society today

  • @miamid17 You are a typical moronic american movie goer. The shaky camera BS and the horrible story and mediocre action were just not worth the hype. It was a blatant ripoff of the Matrix and there was 0 character development.

  • @Graham6762 Are u kidding me? shaky camera please tell me a scene where there was shaky camera other than when idk there was a earthquake going on?!? Mediocre action?!? like seriously sorry this wasn't a typical bruce willis film where everything about the movie is just same old same old. This was an original thought, this has no connection with the matrix at all soo really buddy ur gonna have to do better than that

  • @Graham6762 do you think this movie is awful? do one

  • Was the movie real or was i dreaming? Are we all here or is this all just a dream and when we die we really then awake to eternal life in heaven or hell?

  • I agree totally with Matt. A tad low on the emotion level regarding the characters. I still give it a 10 though. What a fantastic film. In my top 10 ever with The Prestige. There are so many levels to comprehend this movie. Some just scrape the surface and like it, some dig a tad deeper an connect this with that, and then you have people who are capable of really picking up all of the little tidbits through out the film. Making it a brilliant puzzle box. It took me a few viewings to notice them

  • I think Nolan's idea is that reality is relative and ambiguous...

  • Inception is honestly the perfect movie

  • @johnesdman no it isn't. not far from it, but definitely has HUGE flaws

  • @knightnarles such as what?

  • @johnesdman everything but the acting, Mal's character, the visuals, the music, and the overall concept. flower shirt guy in the video touches on some of them.

  • @knightnarles ok the visuals won an academy award, concept was so intense, and music all ties in to one certain beat which i thought was reaaly cool. Mals character couldve been alot better i agree but still you can pull apart any movie to find flaws. i think this movie has only 1 or 2. i loved the movie

  • @johnesdman the things i listed were the only good things about the movie i think you misunderstood haha. i loved the movie also it's just that when i went back to watch it recently after initially seeing it in theaters it bored me. it operates solely on wow factor and surprise which wears off so that's why i think it should have been a better movie.

  • @johnesdman FAR from it.

  • @johnesdman You havent seen many movies then... ;)

  • @johnesdman shut the fuck up, there are 2001, godfather, citizen kane. so go fuck yourself.

  • @malows1234 there are Goodfellas, Pulp Fiction, Usual Suspects...Citizen kane? That sucks!

  • lol you guys sound like fanboys i loved this movie but don't pounce on everyone who does not its pretty faggy of you..still like Shutter Island better

  • This film is a good film not a great one. The reason I think this is because it has plot holes that really hurt it. The one that stuck out to me is when ellen page is told that they all have an object that allows them to know if they're in a dream or not, ellen page has a chess piece, then is told how important it is that know one else uses it because only she knows how it should feel and perform in each reality. But throughout the movie leonardo's character uses his wifes spinning top.

  • @tosanbenedigbe That's because he is losing his mind.

  • @mikepike25 sorry mate but i don't agree with that as an explaination. He even tells ellen page's character that he's using his wifes totem. This is where he shouldve been asked by ellen page "Dude I was told we shouldn't use someone elses totem. So why you using your wifes?". Its a plot hole thats companied by others. Its a good movie not a great one.

  • @tosanbenedigbe He said don't let someone else use your totem so that they wouldn't be able to trap you in a dream. His wife is dead therefore he is the only one that knows how it works.

  • @tosanbenedigbe And I am not sure but i think it is before before page finds out about his wife being dead in which it would make sense that she would ask him that.

  • in sovent russia, you gears in your head never stop spinning.

  • i watched this show on an airplane. i never went to the toilet once.

  • Inception > Avatar

  • @WhiteSleevedStu Batman and Robin > Avatar

  • @robotfreshpies Avatar>Battle L.A.

  • @Hybridhexz both are average films

  • @robotfreshpies R U SURE ???? DARRRRN

  • @robotfreshpies gtfo

  • The movie is a pile of shit. Fanboys push the fact they "get it" more than anything else. A movie that makes dumb people feel smart may be the real genius of Nolan because it aint his movies.

  • @booster330 I would beg to differ along with a lot of other people...

  • @thebordemz More people dislike this movie than you think. They just dont feel the need to broadcast it across the internet.

  • @booster330 Not from where I am... I've never heard a single person diss it until you.

  • @thebordemz dude just look at some of the other comments. there all idiots for thinking this movie sucked. i honestly doubt they even watched it and if they did i know they didnt get shit. the way nolan made this was amazing. its a masterpiece. its genius. and it makes you think. which is probably the reason half these fucking idiots dont like it

  • @qckiller10 I completely agree. This movie is amazing and anyone that doesn't like it didn't get it.

  • wow, the critics made this movie seem like its a fucking masterpiece! it's not, its not an intelligent movie, its an ok action, popcorn flick thats very original

  • @beanerman2345 thank you. that is what i have been saying but everyone here is too stupid to get it

  • this movie wasn't that amazing. i don't understand how everyone was blown away by it.

  • @dman952 you probly just didnt get it

  • @qckiller10 yep i didn't get it....... whether or not i got it, it doesn't change the fact that people over analyze this movie way too much

  • @dman952 by getting it. you can realize how amazing of a film it was

  • @qckiller10 i get the movie. it was ok, its not as amazing as everyone is making it out to be. this movie is essentially what southpark was talking about in the episode where butters writes the book "THE POOP THAT PEED"

  • You were right the first time. It is over rated. It needed Freddy Kruger in it. Rubbish movie!

  • @KaijudoMaster11 Moron

  • after watching Inception i really wanna watch all of Christopher Nolan's other movies that had twists at the end!!!

  • @WackySketch there was no twist, thats the twist

  • @69iambecomedeath89 exactly! That's what I love about Christopher Nolan. He does such a good job of making you think that there's more to it even tho its very simple. Why is why in my opinion I think he should take the challenge in making a sequel.

  • @WackySketch true enough, it would have to be a side story that might have to validate the ending for the obvious, but honestly, its funny seeing people confused, more like, if you don't just watch it you get mindfucked

  • I dont get it. I thought it was a good movie - but not anything super special like the reviewers are droning on about. I thought the characters were just a little bland - the stakes were a little too low to make me sit on the edge of my seat - didn't fully understand the characters' motivations.

I did like the visuals - especially in dream level 2 - good job there. Maybe I expected a little more based on the previews - the movie was good - but not "mind-blowing," or "dream-like."

  • this movie was really great if you're into movies that confuse the shit outta you.

you can also achieve this effect by running head first into a brick wall...

  • Inception might as well be the Kid A of movies.

It's something weird and something that has never been done before and it's mind blowing but kinda lacks emotion like that other guy says.

  • Inception is making you think? WTF? It's the simplest plot in the world, its just about the entourage and effects. The idea was good, but it was ruined on so many levels but it makes me cry. Wasted potential.

  • @redyossarian man i totally agree, with you. Does it not piss u off that nolan fanbois run around claiming that if someone doesn't like it, they must be just too dumb to understand it. Personally it didn't make me think, cause its pretty simple, and if we get lost GOOD old joseph gordon levitt was there to hold our hands and walk us thru the doors. personally people who think this movie is more than a great action movie, well they must be so retarded this movie must have seemed complex

  • @malows1234 Also it contains too much of that freaking shooting which is boooring. I was expecting much more of the stuff that was shown in the beginning, when Ariadne is being learned about the specifics of that world. That was the best part of the movie, later it's turning into variation of Bond movies and other shoot'em films. It makes me laugh how people got cheated by Nolan. The film is not complex and multilayer at all, it's easy as karate Kid or any other 80's movie. Huge dissapointment.

  • the dude with the beard shakes his head a lot. like his neck muscles are having a spasm.

  • well Nolan cast Maggie G for Batman's love interest, who is supposed to be beautiful, she looks like a homeless women who has just been in a 12 rounds fight with Mike Tyson and clearly was fucked up in the face, Nolan clearly don't give a fuck about the audience emotionally caring about his characters in films.

  • my only problem with the movie is i know from much personal that dreams do not work like they do in this movie. otherwise excellent movie

  • @BBGBillHimself Technically they do if you new you were dreaming. They all new they were dreaming and they controlled it.Now if it was a regular guy then the dream would be completely dumb.Think about it you don't know how you got in the dream and when you realize you are dreaming you wake up in a matter of seconds BUT actually you were in the dreming for 7-8 hours. You found out that you were dreaming when you wake up.That "kick"thing works.I have the same thing:I jump from a rooftop and I wakeup

  • @spearofconquest Whenever i realize im dreaming I actually do not wake up and i am able to keep dreaming. but the simple fact is that you just dont have that much control over what you do. While in control of a dream you do have general control but you have the decision making process of someone under the influence of drugs, while the people in this movie had full control. As for the "kick" that may work for some but not me and contrary to this movie you actually cant feel pain in a dream.

  • @BBGBillHimself You do realize they have full control because of the special sedative they take when they go into someones mind? They can control theselves because most o f the time they are in someones else is mind. You can control your mind when in somebodies else dream. Not to insult you but THEY ARE USING A SPECIAL TYPE OF DRUG SO THEY CAN CONTROL THEMSELVES MORON.MY GOD ITS NOT SAYING THEY CAN POP INTO SOMEBODIES DREAM AND DO WHATEVER THEY WANT.The kick works on many levels.Your mind is just..

  • @spearofconquest Yes but the problem is that drug does not exist and as for the kick- i have jumped of many buildings in my dream and continued with the dream..

  • @BBGBillHimself Dude who the fuck cares if the kick thing actually works or not, it was just to symbolize that we feel like were falling sometimes and you sometimes wake up and sometimes not, who gives a fuck.

  • When I watched this movie with my girlfriend in the back of the theater , she offered to blow me. I said no.

  • @nongo lol

  • @nongo The movie wasn't that good, lml. I'd prefer head.

  • 0:00

  • personaly i found with the preview they made it sound like it was going to be difficult to follow and that it was going to be surprising and more like "an intelectual exercise"

however i found it to be predictable and easy to follow... they explained exactly how they'd do things before they did it there was not room to think about it and figure it out.. everything was just layed out cleanly infront of you... and the bits they don't tell you are just so predictable

  • Good indepth review!

  • No offence, but...I had no idea what was happening ;P

  • 03:30 No, it wasn't a "nice" use of pantheon.

To the fat guy in the stupid shirt: A movie reviewer can't be afraid to talk about a movie. If you try to talk around a movie, you're just blithering, which is what you did here. Also, you repeat yourself too much.

Also, all three of you namedrop too much.

  • @jfrsnjhnsn You listen to Ke$ha, you have no credibility.

  • @bIoodypingu OH YEAH?? WELL GIMME BACK MY JACKET!!!

See, I can be just as random.

    (thanks, louis ck!)

  • @jfrsnjhnsn Go listen to your bullshit, terrible music. Leave things that take some sort of intelligence to people that actually have some. You clearly don't.

  • Any mov1e that 1nsp1res thought for me 1s a w1n 1n my book. But 1t goes beyond that. 1t grabs your attent1on, 1t keeps your attent1on, 1t's got great act1on moments, 1t has great act1ng, 1t really forces you to th1nk... 1t's a lot l1ke the Matr1x you could say.

  • Am I the only one not impressed with Inception?

  • @Vigatus2 nope. I thought it was good, but not "very" anything except "very" long.

  • @Vigatus2 Yes.

  • oh my days, the fat guy is just weird. must emotional be involved in everything???

    movie was absolutely AWESOME.

  • The very high pitch sound is murdering me, I can't bear to watch this. Fix your damn audio!

  • it really was predictable...

I was pissed at how much my friends like it.

  • @OdinLowe

yeah like the 5th time you see it.

  • @OdinLowe you're full of crap, unless you read spoilers before you saw it of course

  • "I get really excited to see asians" - Way to go make yourself look simple

  • The movie was bad. Story did not make sense. Eg. When DiCaprio pretends to be part of the subconscious of his victim telling him he is dreaming??

Hold on a sec. Earlier he said the dreamer has no control over his subconscious, so how can the subconscious tell the dreamer he is dreaming if the subconscious is not conscious of anything?!?!?

Also, if the dream is the subconscious at play, i.e. out of control to the dreamer, how can the dreamer hide secrets in it? He CANNOT!

  • @domnic0 Cobb pretends to be part of Fischer's subconscious to convince Fischer to help them break into his own mind. Fischer will think they are going into Browning's mind and therefore, because he will mirror Eames' portrayal of Browning, think he is discovering truth.

His subconscious never tells him anything.

The architect creates a secure location like a vault or jail, and the dreamer instinctively fills it with secrets.

    Anything else you want answered?

  • God damn you, how can you say that there's no emotion to the characters? How can you say that you weren't moved by Mal's death?

  • Comment removed

  • In quality:

    The Dark Knight defeated Titanic.

    In IQ:

    Inception defeated Avatar.

    By far!

  • this movie is a masterpeice. People that didnt like dont understand it because nobody can sit there and say this is a boring movie. Best movie ive ever seen in my life.(SPOILER ALERT) And i heard some people say that after the credits they heard the top fall and stop. Did any of you guys here it?

  • @lsufanforlife15 that would ruin the movie, to know if it was a dream or not... the moral of the story is that it did not matter if it was real or not so long that he was with his children.

  • @flickers1988 it wasn't a dream. his beyblade thing wiggeled at the end, meaning he was in real life

  • @flickers1988 but that was the whole problem with the film, is that at the end, none of it mattered.

  • @flickers1988 it wasnt a dream

  • @flickers1988 on the contrary, nolan left the ending to be interpreted by everyone individually. the most important thing is whether it was a dream or not

  • @lsufanforlife15 dude can u stop being a fucking hard head with your opinions, i am allowed to hate the movie, and if u say its the best movie u ever saw in ur life, i dont think you understand film, but i am not going to say that because its ur opinion. personally for me the movie was absolute crap, its an absolutely controlled environment, it doesn't offer freedom for me to think of it, i have to think wat chris nolan wants me to think, which is not the case with a masterpeice like citizenkane

  • @lsufanforlife15 I love the arm chair critics who dismiss those of us who didn't like Inception as not understanding it. Those who (like me) did not care for Inception actually DID get it and thus saw its numerous flaws (it was conceieved, after all, when Nolan was only 16). I didn't sit through the credits, but the spinning top was a cheat. After it goes dark, if Cobb is true to his character, will ultimately go back and check on it and act accordingly, so it's not so ambiguous after all.

  • @lsufanforlife15 Did you think the American with George Cloony was a masterpiece as well?

  • @lsufanforlife15 The main message of the ending is that Cobb doesn't care whether it's a dream or not, he stops looking at the top.

  • @lsufanforlife15 lol i understood the movie, but i think it was boring as hell... i mean cool graphics but thats all nolan can do these days. he aint ever going to make another memento.

  • @malows1234 I disagree. Inception and TDK are better films.

  • @malows1234 I disagree. Inception and TDK are better films.

  • @lsufanforlife15 My classmates and I watched this movie after our final exams and we weren't able to hear the top fall and stop. We also heard about it, so our teacher and us turned the volume on really loud and replayed the credits lots of times but were unable to hear anything.

  • @jackanthem90 I don't think he is. Leo did a good job with his character and I'm a huge Nolan fan but it's true that most of his characters seem to not be very emotionally interesting. They show the right things, there are valid reasons for the characters' plight but it doesn't connect to me, the viewer, as a Tarantino, Scorsese, Spielberg does. When I see a Nolan film, I mainly come out amazed at the technique and story but never emotionally drained from characters, even with the amazing Joker.

  • very surprised to hear your audience at the midnight showing laughed during the previews. mine did too, and it was for piranha 3d in fact.

never have i as well been in a movie with no one talking and phones and going up and down, it was perfect. the audience's reaction made the experience that much better.

  • How was Avatar new? lol

  • I have to say, I was surprised that none of them mentioned some of the parallels between Inception and Paprika. Both of them are about the thin line between reality and dreams, and there's a HUGE reference to it with DiCaprio's elevator dreams. In Paprika, one of the characters also had an elevator that went through moments in his past. Both of them are thoroughly enjoyable films, and I just thought that the similarities should be pointed out.

  • @StormHater33 As a matter of fact, Cobb (Leo's Character) Was NOT in the dream world. He wears a wedding ring everytime hes in the dream world, and he doesnt wear it when hes in the real world. And guess what, hes not wearing it in the end. Real world.

  • @Ironforger971 Yeah, but that's because he finally let go of his wife at the end

  • @skovkiosken **Spoiler** Cobb (Leo's character) was still stuck in the Dream world..The last shot shows you (Indeed ..its tricky)

  • You fucking people hating on this movie are stupid and jealous that you could never think of a concept even remotely close to this. This movie is like if The Matrix fucked Bobby Fisher. Its action, sci-fi, love drama, comedy, and most important of all: well thought out. When have we ever seen that before? If you don't like this film, you actually do like it your just in limbo and someone has performed inception inserting the idea that you don't because your not cool enough.

  • Reviewers like these guys got me all hyped up for this film, in that it was so confusing and brilliant. It just turned out to be clever and pretty good, so a bit of a let down.

Why were the defence guys so crap at shooting? That really annoyed me.

  • Only action dreams? That sounds pretty booring.

  • i watched it a second time to understand what the fuck happend the in first

  • This movie is so good it makes it easy to overlook its flaws. Love Matts analysis, I think its spot on.

  • @ggpUtuber and this is why its bollox, coz if theyre sedated and in a real dream then why is it such a controlled enviroment.? dreams are random one minute you talking to someone and then they turn into someone else or you start in one place then end up in another, when you go to sleep you have no idea where your going to end up in the dream or whats going to happen, but in inception they are always in the right place to be and focused on the task, real dreams dont work like that its bollox!!!.

  • @Rockysbeats Maybe you just over thought it. Why don't you at least try making it exciting you dull Brit? It's pretty amazing that anyone would think up this movie, and Nolan did just that. The only thing that's complete "BOLLOX" is you.

  • im over peoples comments on this they think theyre so fkin clever and get off on it 'oh look at me i understood this no problem - you must be a dumbass to not get this' screw you all none of you have a clue what happened your just as in the dark as everyone else, the movie had high expectations that you had to really pay attention to get it, so people watched it and instantly had to tell everyone they understood it to show off how clever they are! and you all know im right!!

  • i hate that people get on their high horse and boast that theyre so clever for understanding it, and say that those who didnt like it are not smart enough to get it, i hate the movie, does not make me unintellegent i just found it slow, long and boaring and far too intrecut, i didnt care for what was happening or going to happen with the charactors and the statment this movie gives off that dreams seem so real all the time is complete bollox!!

  • just watch this :

    watch?v=20xD7eTcrxM

  • What a fucking incredible movie, whoever can't see what a masterpiece this is just doesnt have the intellect to appreciate a good quality film unlike 90% of the other modern films out there

  • Avatar - nothing that anyone have done already? Please! Have you ever watched Pocahontas?

  • MILF

  • The thing that I both love and dislike about the dream levels, is that he keeps them very grounded in reality, despite it being a dream state. It makes it much easier to follow everything and believe it and gives it a more believable sense of suspense, but at the same time, I would really like to see more playing with the physics and the different things that happen in a person's dreamscape.

  • Rosebud was his sled...
