@einat1622 , actually the newer one release is better than this and is somewhat good, it made good reviews for the first 3 aired episodes, however, the trouble is........the story has already been told, they should of just left off from the 1983-85 version, I personally got board, because I wanted more if it going into the history and background of royal family and the sorceress, I wouldn't mind of seeing a shera version, I wanted to see the release of He-ro series, but CN fucked up.
@DJJJINSTL , glad you asked, He-ro was a project made by Lou scheimer, the very same who writting the original He-man 1980s cartoons, if I remember, He-ro was an wild child, adopted by prince adam, he becomes the next He-Man, but, unlike He-man, who had a cat for a companion, He had a bird, it's on he-man dot org website, Teela, if I remember, was made the next sorceress of greyskull, it was titled "He-Ro, son of He-man and the masters of the universe.
@DJJJINSTL, Unfortuntly, since filmation went into liquidation, the cartoon wasn't never born, google it anyway, you be surprised what is there on he-man dot org.
GODDD I hated this show sooooooooo much!!! Skeletor looked and acted like a fucking clown, He-Man had a friggin' PONYTAIL...ugh! I always hated how he just abandoned Eternia for this crappy future.
Dude,i hear you. I got the DVD boxset thinking that it was good due to the artwork on the cover. Yet the storyline and characters are pretty week. So now it's collecting dust on my shelf as we speak. whoever read this comment, dont make the mistake that i made. I repeat do not buy this series on DVD. You will be terribly dissappointed!!!
i only got the boxes of New Adventures to complete the collection more than anything else Flimation and Mike Young kick the shit of of this turkey lol
Me too. I heard had they made a third season, they would've introduced She-Ra in the New animated series. I think the show got cancelled due to the fact that the new toy-line wasnt doing too well.
i do agree that the toy line was the cause, mainly thanks to overpacking of smash blade he-man and battle blades skeletor, plus the Comic Con She Ra figure(an retool and remould of Snake Teela) was more proof that Mike Young was gonna bring in Adora/She-Ra or maybe even the rebelion in some shape or form, since the horde were in Power Of Greyskull
Then you know that the voice for He man in the new adv plays Man at Arms right, but all in all I really don't see why people did like the new adv or may be I'm just old fashsion
@BlackRaptor1900 yup, i knew Garry Chalk was the voice of Man At Arms in 200X, but then again you do get other members of the new adventures cast in 200X also, Scott Mcneil comes to mind, who played in new adventures, Flipshot and Butthead to name a couple and played in 200X Stratos, Beast Man, Mer Man and Clawfull to again name a few
One of the only good things about this series is that Skeletor was actually pretty competent and kicked ass. He actually defeated He-Man fairly often on his own, it was the bungling of the mutants he worked with that jacked things up.
heman in space? of course it sucked donkey balls. the guy uses a sword and not a future gun or something. there is an old sayin... if its not broke don't fix it
Concept: Buck Rogers meets Masters of the Universe. Sucks! Keeping the main villain and giving him googly yes was even worse. Continuity between this show and the classic Filmation one sucked beyond belief.
I'm wondering if it would've made any difference if Filmation were involved and had drawn He-Man, Skeletor, and the Sorceress in the same exact way they were drawn in the original. I'm thinking that's a possibility, albeit weak, but more likely because all new characters were introduced.
Does anyone else think it's kinda ironic that Gary Chalk voiced He-Man in a series where he protects a planet called primus then later voices several creations of a god called that ?.
Nice music, I will admit, and Gary Chalk threw out a decent voice for He-Man. Ironically, Chalk voiced Man-At-Arms on the 2002 version opposite Cam "Leonardo" Clarke as He-Man.
This Show really kicked ass! It is better than the Original 80's He-Man. much better. I loved this remake, but not the second remake that came on Cartoon Network.
you're crazy the remake on the cartoon network was superior in every way 2 these cartoons. They explained alot about the character's origins, the art work was better and so were the story lines. Watch it again :) u'll see what i mean.
This version sucked big time. Should of called it something else instead of riding on the heman saga. NEVER translate american cartoon classics into annime.
i remember this being slow but i like the chracters mostly the mutants but reading weikpedia they said they were planning to return to eternia with a evil man at arms as a despot...would of been interesting
How can anyone say this version was crap and the original is so good/great? I grew up with the original, but lets face it. It was nothing more than a 30min toy commercial like most toons from the 80s. Watching the old episodes as an adult now, the plots were just plain terrible. This series, for it's time actually had some good writing. It didn't catch on, but a lot of great ideas didn't catch on. Doesn't mean it's bad.
Looking back, I think it was pretty cool and ballsy to go in this direction. Has a Thundercats/Silverhawks kind of feel to it. As wee kids, my cousin and I were all into the original He-Man line. But I do recall getting the New Adventures sword for Christmas. I loved it
I remember this crap. They really made He-man look like a flaming homosexual in this one. It was bad enough when the live action movie came out. Everyone was like WTF? but then they made this gay version and everyone was like NO WAY IN HELL! I remember as a if you had a She-ra doll it was excepted far sooner than if you had the gay He-man. Nobody liked it and stores had a hard time selling any of them. It was a total flop. The new cartoon made it even worse.
Oh wow. I remeber it! It was absolutely amazing, much better than the original (though, of course, I love the original version as well). I remember so little, I would love to see those episodes again...
the animation was great foritstime but damn i hated that fucking version. after that garbage he-man hasn't been seen since until 2002 with a kick ass series
I bet half the people commenting here havent even seen the show. Despite the changes in this show, it had far more character development, and unlike the classic show, a lot more continuity, a more threatening Skeletor was actually won sometimes. It was a lot more enjoyable than the filmation series if you actually sit down and watch it.
basically it's a spin off combining your favorite cartoons in one which is a gay concept. But its he-man transformers and GI Joe with japanesee animation to make an all new show with some good fight scenes but with a gay sword. the Japs can make the gaiest things cool. But its too far off from the real thing. By the way, he-man was gay as hell I just didnt realize it when I was littler LOL!
It very seldom happens that a cartoon that was originally well accepted recieves the same positive reaction when it is re-vamped into something different. Too many producers just refuse to learn from history e.g. the original Transformer, GI Joe, Voltron series were never surpassed by their new renditions.
Those are pretty big shoes to fill. I remember this version as well as the original, and I think it was a good concept. It had it's advantages over the original, including DECENT CONTINUITY! But yeah, the original is still the best.
Story and characters might suck... but the visuals sure kick old He-Man's arse. And I love those visuals... from a time when western-animation (done in korean-slave camps though) was still able to mess with japanese animation...
Oh dear, I remember this. I've not seen it since I was a kid but damn, it was poor compared to the original. I was so annoyed when I saw how different He-man was. I wouldn't mind seeing this show now for good old nostalgic reasons though :)
