  • Hi Steve !! Thanks for this video !!!!

Is there any chance to see you on another " how to " with the song For The Sake Of The Call on the nwest version of your own ?? I mean the one that´s absultely acoustic, sounds almost like Country..

    Thanks

  • Thank you so much!!!

  • Is there any way to play this song similarly to the original without making it DADGAD? I have to do a little performance and I want to do this song but I only have a 1 minute interval so I cant really tune it that quickly...

  • @SeinaruKuroUsagi // Two options: you can practice retuning, especially if you have a tuner pedal or clip-on tuner. It's only 3 strings that change - low E, B and high E. I can retune in about 20 seconds or less. If you want it to be the 1/2 step lower like SCC does it, start with your guitar in standard tuning minus 1 (and play capo 1 to be in E). The other option is to try playing it in drop-D. It won't be the same, but you will be able to get that low D drone sound. Good luck!

  • Awesome! Love the SEE on the 12th fret!

  • FOLLOW UP on new demo. Just wanted you to know I "have" tuned my 2nd guitar to DADGAD (1/2 step down though) and learned the "Do Everything" song. My kids (11 and 8) have really been enjoying me play it. I've also started playing "Speechless" in the DADGAD tuning, but have to capo 1 to play along with recording. The chords you use in "Do Everything", work PERFECTLY with Speechless. I'll be sharing that great song with my kids as well. THANKS AGAIN!

  • For the longest time I hoped you'd do some "how to" videos. THANK YOU! Now I just need to tune my second guitar to GADGAD, and leave it there, so I can work on some of your songs. Please keep posting other songs!

  • Thanks Steven :) that tuning has made a big difference, been a fan for years, even some of my own writing has been inspired thru the music God has blessed you with, keep spreading the word and hopefully I can do the same thru this Glorious gift. The Irony is that this was upload on my Birthday :) Thanks again and God Bless.

    Peace, Vincent

  • That's awesome, thank you ! I love using DADGAD tuning, so am excited to hear that you've made a lot of use of it in your new album. I'm looking forward to experimenting with those harmonics and to some more "how to" videos in the future ;)

  • i love your guitar mr chapman :) its so beautiful.

  • genius! Thanks for the lesson SCC... =)

  • This just brings a smile to my face.

  • At first I was unsure about buying this album, since I already have most of SCC's other ones. But re:creation has become one of my all time favorite albums--EVER! My 6 year old son also enjoys listening to the CD and learning the words. I stumbled upon this video from SCC's website, looking for sheet music. But this is even better--learning the song from the master himself! THANK YOU, STEVE!

  • Mr. Chapman,

Thank you for taking out time to do this.

God bless you "in every little thing you do"

    Love, Isaac, India

  • Thank you for take the time to upload this, it was great!! carry on doing great music to praise the Lord of Lords and King of Kings Blessings from Colombia..May God bless you and keep you Steven!

  • Hey Steven, I really love your music. I was hoping that you would do a lesson on "The Great Adventure" because it is a great song.

    Thanks and God Bless!

  • Great idea, Steven! Very well executed too.

  • Thank you, Steven. I was going to ask about the unique art built into your Taylur, form the color art on the head to the inlay in the neck... then I watched Mary Beth (watch?v=AgbnjE20vs0) and now I 'see' — I love how you have incorporated your daughter;s original art into your guitar and Mary Beth's book. Very, very touching.

  • Any possibility that you will teach us Long Way Home? I've got an uke and would love to share the song at church. :-)

  • Thanks so much for posting this! You're the person who inspired me to want to learn how to play guitar. Hopefully this how-to video will teach me how to play one of your songs. :) Hope you will be able to make more of these, they're so much fun.

    God bless, Christina :)

  • Would LOVE to see more "how to" vids. Thanks for taking the time to do this.

    Peace, Shawn

  • know what? I really appreciate the fact that you are posting a 'how to' on your song. I think it is refreshing that in a day and age where everyone is trying to get a buck and is over concerned if someone might play their stuff-you are leaving it in Jesus' hands and just sharing your craft. Beautiful. I have appreciated your stuff since your first album. This makes me appreciate you even more. You realize that here or in heaven you will get your props. Its the heart of Jesus. Sharing. =)

  • THANK YOU!!!! I am still learning guitar and am LOVING this video!! What is the strum pattern you are using? I know what it should sound like, but in reality, it sounds NOTHING like what you do. You are truely a master at the guitar!!

  • Also love your "Maria" inspired guitar! BEAUTIFUL! :)

  • Love this! I'm learning how to play the guitar (at the age of 45). So fun to get a lesson from Steven Curtis Chapman! Very cool! :) Thanks, Steven.

I just finished reading Mary Beth's book over the weekend. You both have helped me soooo much in my walk with my Saviour. Thanks so much for your musical ministry and helping me SEE how much I need to trust in my Lord, and to SEE how he is with me every step of the way, no matter what I do and loves me no matter what. Thanks! :)

  • Thank you thank you thank you!! I've been trying to figure out that tuning forever! LOVE this song! Would you maybe do one for Great Adventure too? :) God bless you SCC! All my love!

  • Thanks Steven for showing me how to play absolutely love this song! Thanks for everything and God Bless!
