  • thats a neat shooter i must say

  • thanks Larry!

  • Honestly, I can understand having a grip safety on a semi-auto like the 1911, but this seems kinda ridiculous. That double-action revolver could fall off of a fucking cliff and STILL not discharge, even if it didn't have the grip safety. Worthless function, if you ask me.

  • The old 32-20 cartridges were used in pistols. When I look at the energy output for these rounds they seem really high for handguns, nearing magnum performance. Did revolvers use a weaker load? Or was black powder so slow burning that most of the energy was used to start fires? Thanks, I'm a Brit but Larry encapsulates everything I like about Yanks.

  • @verfugbarkite We need guys like you to move to the USA.

  • do i see some m1 carbines back there?!

  • and thats the way it is

  • nice

  • Like these older revolvers and I am more a collector than shooter, however I wanted to know between the 1st Model and 3rd/4th Models - what is the more stable of a locking design for these guns? Thank you in advance for your responses.

  • Pocket pain injector.

  • Do they even make any breaktops anymore?

There's really no reason not to.

  • Similar frame to the schofield

  • I REALLY want a top break for my first revolver, Just sold my 1911 now I'm looking for a new gun asap, but I dislike hammerless revolvers.

  • my grandad used to tote one when he was a 'revenuer' busting up stills in the south (no kidding). He ruined his by cutting off 2" from the barrel.

  • this type of gun would be ideal for home protection. it would eliminate the criminal's defense of pre meditated shooting.

  • @tamapalagi Criminal: Oh yeah that crazy homeowner totally premeditated shootin me even before I broke in! Judge: Shut the fuck up.

  • i just got one of these off the street for 70$! omg! i didnt think it was this old! wow im really suprised. the dude i got mine from broke the rubber grip and took it off, so right now ive got a mother of pearl acrilic grip on it. the hammer on mine doesnt come back after you squeeze the trigger, i think the spring has broken. it shoots really good and is true, but i have to manually pull the trigger back to make it shoot again

  • my grandmother had a S&W Safety in .38S&W. I think it was as close to an idiot proof handgun as any i've ever fired.

  • Model?

  • Wow, that thing still looks like a good quailty gun!

  • How much that would cost?

  • top breaks are the best

  • america made some damn good firearms but germany is the master of gun making

  • @FullBloodedHmoob There is some truth in what you say, but the KINGS of gunmakers remains the USA and Switzerland....

  • My Dad has one of these. It's a neat little gun

  • after firing open the gun and the emptysareautomaticlyejected lolz wat hapened u run outa time

  • I had 2 of these in the 70's bought em from retired Police Officers

  • I mean, does anybody know when to find the year when the gun has specific number. is there any book whith serial numbers and dates or?

  • This gun is in Fallout 3.

  • Hello everybody, I would like to know exactly the time period when this model of sw was produced. I mean from 1888 do 18xx? or? thanks

  • Dear Mr. Larry, can you tell me exactly the time period when this model was produced? I mean from 1888 up to 18xx? Thanks

  • To all those who say it's harmful to dryfire guns and it should never be done, here we see a gun expert dryfire a revolver over 100 years old about 6 times.

  • @ihaterobbie123 Snap caps.

  • @ihaterobbie123 Actually bro he's got it loaded with empty shells which you can see him eject at the end.

So he isn't actually dry firing the gun.

  • @preacherZer0 Yeah, i made that comment before watching the whole video.

  • Larry Potterfield is a major contributor to helping our Second Amendment rights. On the other hand, I have eyeing a a hammer version of the same revolver chambered for 32 S&W Long

  • Anything on the Schofield?

  • i have one of these but its not a harmly an i cant find it around

  • I have that burner! My father found it on the front steps one night, it most likely belonged to some criminal back in the 80's. As a fatter of mact, I'm holding the gun in my background image on my youtube page. ha ha

  • can anybody tell me which is best for a revolver ? SA(single action) DA (double action) DAO (double action only) i know with single action it is more accurate (some people say) but with SA on a revolver you have to pull the hammer every time and in some cases you dont have time !

  • what is the reason for the floots on the cylinder is it just style or is there a reason

  • Good Stuff. Americans know how to make good firearms and they know it very early.

  • @LillaSophie.

sure they make good firearms, the problem is that they will sell one to any asshole who wants one.

thats trouble for you if you piss someone off.

  • You just have to be faster;)

    /Mats

  • Well Mark. It's really simple then. Just don't piss anyone off! LOL

  • The .32 rimfire cartridge is called in the UK as an "Obsolete calibre" hence you can own guns from this era,as long as they are over 100 years old.I assume in America that the .32 rimfire cartridege is still made with so many of these guns surviving. One of the clips on here shows a .32 with what looks like new cartridges, though its not fired in the clip.

  • @silver760 I got a friend whose dad left him one as a heiloom. He can't find any bullets for it. I don't think there made. Probly have to find someone who makes custom bullets or by some tools but he dosn't really plan on shooting it do to its good condition. There so many remaining due to the fact S&W has always had large factories. There are still quite a few black powder .31 caliber revolvers. But good luck finding a schofield to many collectors got a eye on them.

  • @smartguy104 Thanks for the reply,I know the .32 rimfire is available in the US as there are videos of people firing .32RF guns on here.I know they are obsolete in the UK.I have looked at a number of antq. .32RF and various caliber percussion revolvers recently, they arent too expensive, but the quality varies wildly. The new percussion revolvers are very cheap here, but will have to wait till I sort my licence out for one of those, they are the only handguns we are allowed to fire/own in the UK.

  • mine is just like that same look an stial an smith an westing ctce an has the fast un load thing but has a hammer an only a 3 inch bearol an can any one send me a link to suff on this gun? or tell me about it? plz

  • I wish this gun shop was in the UK and local to me,the one I do have near me are useless, mind you legally owned guns in the uk are very low in numbers now, thanks to those idiots in government.of course it will never be changed for the better, only the worst.

  • Hello, There are still many revolvers you can own in the UK without any license at all !!, Colt 1873 SAA 44rf or 44 Russian cal., S&W mod 3 44 Russian,Colt new service D/A 44 Russian.just as long you do not have ammo or try to fire them.

  • The only ones you can own are genuine antiques, not repro's.Also they must be an obsolete calibre or a muzzle loader. For such a pistol a good example in the UK would set you back thousands of £/$,what use is a gun you cannot/wouldn't fire?Sure I can own a CO2 revolver, which I have done, but its not the same. Before the ban I used to shoot revolvers/semi's on a regular basis, all gone now unless I get a "longarm",a pistol with a 16" barrel or a muzzle loader/black powder, licences are v'hard to get.

  • Thanks Larry for showing a unique classic!!! I just picked up a 4th model chambered in .38 S$W cartridge.

  • Glad to see you posted such a great video response rugersix. I love MidwayUSA for all their great products and excellect customer service.

  • yea the gun is cool but i wouldnt choose it to be my companion. still a cool gun but you have to understand.

  • i have two revolvers like that is .32 S&W but different opening action or w/e and no saftey bar. one blued with a hammer and one sorta rusted hammerless nickel plated. no clue what model they are.

  • i have one just like it except mines black

  • god i want those ww2 carbines in the back!

  • he is a very good speaker

  • larry for president!

  • heck better then obama banning guns and stuff

  • Oddly enough, I could have almost sworn that I had seen this video about a month or two ago, but when I tried to find it back, I couldn't find it.
