I think Metallica wrote some good songs, but when I say some I mean only a handful, while this group has a fulfillment in almost every song they write that won't find with Metallica. They are for their crowd, for the rest of us there is progressive rock.

People seem to be misjudging this song based on this video. But I've heard the song many times and this sounds quite different. At no time is this in the same key as the original, and the style is hugely different. Much more metal-ish here. Hate the singer difference.

The only reason I listened to this song was due to it being one the highest rated DT songs, and to see if it was as bad as their slaughter of the great King Crimson song "Larks' Tongues in Aspic pt. II".

My opinion is that it was and is.

I'll admit, this is my first time hearing Dream Theater, and I notice the Metallica vibe almost immediately. However, that isn't necessarily a bad thing considering the garguatuan likes of Ride the Lightning by the aforementioned likeliness.

This isn't the best cup of tea I've ever had, since I'm more a hard rock fan, than prog/metal, but the song is well constructed. It chugs along spritely while retaining heaviness, but never becoming unwieldy.
