Toothless Redneck lol ! " I dooo !" One of the most memorable favorites of mine from this movie, along with "Stinking Badgers" and Spatula City ! * Disclaimer ( I'm all for guns in the right hands, got a great aim and love to shoot targets not people)
The police investigate after your dead but that's about it! Fact ever year more people are killed with clubs than guns. What did our ancestors do before guns? All hug each other & give the bad guys flowers! That's what you call a fairytale, fiction, etc!
Gun control is equal to fart control, no matter how much you restrain, evil will find a way. For example, some governments have the strictest gun control in the world, yet criminals still get guns. Say someone breaks into your home to kill you, whacha gonna do? 'Cause the killer is gona kill you anyway, might as well have a gun and take him down with ya. if you think the cops will help, then your wrong, you spend 3 hours on the phone just trying to talk to them. By that time your dead.
@TheKnightwing1197 look dude, your logic that people kill people is right at first glance, but nations with stringent gun laws and the ability to enforce them (ie i'm talking more about UK then Nicaragua) have much lower homicide rates then they did before they outlawed guns.
@dchris1990 Gun law's are good, they do help in some countries, places, etc. Unfortunately, in some places gun laws only increase homicide for the reason as I pointed out in my original post. This is due to different mindsets people have. Lets say country A's citizens like to enjoy life and are happy with what they have and content with their lives. Gun laws in Country A will most likely work because of how the nations citizens are satisfied with their life and have all their needs provided for.
@TheKnightwing1197 Most Country B's citizens on the other hand are not satisfied with what they have for a certain reason and they are envious of others. They do not know how to treat others and their property and don't posses self control. Therefore gun laws in Country B will only make things worse by taking away the guns from people who want to defend themselves.
In my original post I admit I was a little blunt, I hope this can clearify what I meant.
@TheKnightwing1197 Hi, a little flawed argument I would say. Gun control means limitied access to both legal and illegal firearms, whilst keeping them for use of authorized security personnel. In countries with gun control If you are confronted by an petty criminal, most likely he will be unarmed. Less guns means also less shooting accidents (ppl are more eager to call police rather than pulling a gun) and less aggresive police force - whole Europe works that way and believe me it's safe here ;)
@czarnykocoor Well in Europe it does work because over there it's a little more relaxed than here in America. Over here there are states and region's (Texas for example) who's citizens want to keep their guns. It's part of the rebelious spirit that many Americans have. It's our love for Independence, to be able to not rely on government for our basic needs. Over here hunting is a pass time in many states. I myself have a longbow with custom 70 inch aluminum arrows. Like I said before, it depends
@TheKnightwing1197 I agree. Well' there is this major cultural difference, the rugged individualism. Correct me if I'm wrong but as far as I remember, gun ownership is enshrined in US constitution. I guess it weights heavily on the dicussion about gun control (it's a citizens' right to keep one after all).
@czarnykocoor It is in our constitution, you are correct. The gun restrictions here in the US are basically the requirements for a firearms license that vary by state and region.
on the region. From what I understand, in Europe, people rely on government for protection. That's different here in America. Most of us Americans who actually understand our history (we got some who think this is Europe) like to keep our freedoms. Freedom of speech, freedom of worship, freedom of commerce, freedom of thought, and freedom to bear arms. If a person is holding up my family, I want to be able to take that guy out. I know that by the time I call the cops, I would have
@TheKnightwing1197 You're right, having my jackass neighbors and all the other idiots in my city running around with loaded weaponry on them makes me feel much safer.

don't you know? gun control works! just look at the nil crime in England! Where you can't legally defend yourself or property. Where handguns and most guns are banned or regulated, including air guns.
I mean--one could only wonder why they JUST began to give their police officers handguns by default a few years back. Or why they have SWAT level organizations.
Guns are for criminals or evil, white male bigots who cling to their bibles.
What? I have a completely valid argument. You were attacking gun control in an ad hominem matter while I was bringing factual data into a conversation.
You didn't bring any facts to the debate and I brought one more than you did. You can say I'm retarded, stupid, and old fashioned but back it up with some facts, first.
I'd say no to banning of private gun ownership but I would love to see stricter controls. For example, there's no good reason for anyone to privately own assault weaponry and plenty of good reasons to restrict it.
@megamarsvin Problem is, many more people are murdered in the US by cheap handguns, knives, and baseball bats than by assault rifles--and the strict controls we already have in place on those have nothing to do with this--drug dealers and other criminals don't typically get assault rifles or any of their other weapons through legal means. I think a useful approach might involve banning pawn shops from buying or selling guns--when someone steals a weapon, that's where he'll try to sell it.
@galoon Simple argument against that is, ok but you can't walk into a classroom with a knife and kill 30 people in under 30 seconds. With a knife you have a fighting chance, with an AR not so much. As for legal means, that's true but it's currently VERY easy to walk into a gunshow and walk out with a weapon, even if you're listed as "dangerous."
But you have a point, violent crime is out of control in the US. It's kind of the "dog eat dog" mentality that's been growing since the 80s I think.
@megamarsvin I agree with you completely on the classroom scenario--and you're right--ANYONE can purchase firearms at a gunshow (not automatic ones, though).
We do have a big problem with violent crime these days. I was in high school in the '80s, and someone bringing a switchblade to school was big news! Our Civil War re-enactment group did educational programs at middle schools 15 years ago, and no one minded our muskets at all. Today? Out of the question! But it's easy to understand why.
Typical "liberal" talking points. It's got nothing at all to do with "gun shows" . It has more to do with culture and social mores and responsibility. Where I live, there is a strong and pervasive culture of gun ownership and violent crime is low here. So, in essence I'm not of the opinion that gun ownership and gun-shows are to blame for violent crime. Actually, just the opposite is true. More guns= less violent crime!
How come you people never blame TV,video violence for anything?
@n8tureboy Whoa....wait a minute; don't jump to conclusions. I'm definitely no liberal, and I own 5 guns myself. All I was saying was that I understand why those people feel that way. Gun control is a terrible mistake---criminals prefer their victims to be unarmed.. I never said that gun shows & ownership are to blame for violent crime. I don't think TV and video games are either. I'm pretty sure Jack the Ripper never played Grand Theft Auto. Upbringing, however, IS to blame.
Hey Galoon. Sorry! After I wrote that I thought to myself maybe he'll think that's directed at him.
Sorry, the way I phrased that was meant to be 'in general' and not specific towards you. I wasn't calling you liberal, but it does seem that way in my comment. I was trying to just make general commentary related to that naive mindset. I agree about upbringing-spot on!
Forgive my lack of clarity. You do have to admit though that the media plays a BIG part in shaping behavior?
@n8tureboy Hi n8tureboy--no problem! And I definitely agree with you about the media--it's anything but objective and does plenty to try to influence our behavior. I'm sure you also notice how selective the press is about the info and statistics it decides to publish.
Oh yea! You're preaching to the choir now! I could go on for day's about this subject. I've been interested in mass-marketing and psychological manipulation for going on two decades now. It's a lot more sophisticated than most people realize. With the use of Neural-Linguistic programming, and subliminal thought alteration; it's way more than just the power of persuasion, I'm afraid?
Propaganda is a way of life for Madison Ave. AND the government, and Hollywood.
@galoon 'Gun control is a terrible mistake' you Americans are so stupid. We have strict gun control in the UK. in 2002 our homicide rate per 100.000 by gun was 0.15% America the year before was 3.98 - how can gun control be a terrible mistake? Watch the news, not a month goes by without another pissed off American kid going into a busy area and blasting his way through whoever - how can you defend the gun laws in the US - they are crazy.
Kinda hard to control guns if they are bought illegally, don't you think? What about little Johnny shooting up the school? If he hates it that much, couldn't he bring a knife to school and start randomly shanking people?
Guess us "stupid americans" should toss all are firearms in the ocean, while we are at, get rid of the knifes. How about cars, it'll keep drunks from running people over..
@Junglist1974 It's not the laws that are crazy, it's the people: it's not *because* of the laws that the kid you mentioned does that. Plus. the laws affect only the people who obey them; that means if someone might break the law about shooting others, there's a good chance that person will not follow the laws about obtaining a gun.
If you will notice, most of these shooting incidents take place in areas where guns are strictly restricted. Most schools and universities, for example, ban guns from the site.
Let's put a bullet in your leg and leave it there and see how long you'll live... And I'd like to see a kid kill dozens of his classmates in a matter of minutes with a switchblade...
I think kids all over America might be offended that you are selling them short! A teenager of moderately athletic build and a rudimentary knowledge of main arteries would have no problem killing quite a few of his classmates in a matter of minutes!
Wow, what a great and valid way to make an argument..... Just make crying noises and say they fail.... Did you manage to graduate high school with that intellect of yours?
maybe you are brainwashed sir. I am not a conservative, yet I believe strongly in the right to own guns. btw a drunk monkey could get through a school in the U.S. at the moment.
Bullets don't kill people, Shot Placement does! You could put a THOUSAND bullets in a man, and he won't die!... Just one shot 'tween the eyes, and there's nuthin' else that can be said, then that man is dead, with a slug in his head.

All joking aside.... Whenever a NRA nut case does the, "guns dont kill people, people do".....
Just say great!!! I agree, but a little differently.....
"Nuclear warheads dont kill people, people do"
What better way to overthrow a dictatorship government than with nuclear weapons....
Then they start to see the fallicious reasoning in that dumbass argument...
Just another example of conservatives being brainwashed by corporations... The CEO of Winchester thanks them alot..

waaah waaah you fail.
panterastang 2 years ago
Wow, what a great and valid way to make an argument..... Just make crying noises and say they fail.... Did you manage to graduate high school with that intellect of yours?
tempemonkey2323 2 years ago
LOL at you going on about a valid argument when you talk of "NRA nutcases". snide sarcasm and elementary insults.
Spartan69139 2 years ago 3
maybe you are brainwashed sir. I am not a conservative, yet I believe strongly in the right to own guns. btw a drunk monkey could get through a school in the U.S. at the moment.

guns don't kill people, the bullets do. ;)
boomergetaddicted 2 years ago 6
well if we're gonna get technical then it's the massive kinetic energy from the bullet that kills people. but hey, ur dead anyway, so who cares?
bob123789456 2 years ago 7
Bullets don't kill people, Shot Placement does! You could put a THOUSAND bullets in a man, and he won't die!... Just one shot 'tween the eyes, and there's nuthin' else that can be said, then that man is dead, with a slug in his head.
