the reason why Akbar badshah married 4 women of 4 religions is so that they can see the beautiful behavior of Muslims and so hopefully become Muslim and so their kingdoms also become Muslims (a way of spreading Islam). Jodhaa did become a Muslim afterwards and changed her name into maryam. but they did not tell this in the movie because of the Hindus of India (they would get pissed off!).

Best would be for you to buy the dvd online from amazon etc. The legal dvds of most Indian films come with an option of subtitles in English and sometimes a few other European languages. I think that would serve your purpose.
