Great vid fella.... phew... takes you to places that are uncomfy. This track....... just awesome. Good to address these memories and come out stronger at the end of the dream.
Dreaming... The passage through your atman. It isnt some "memory dump" or anything could be comprehended in the material world. It is letting yourself free. Looking at your true prescence. peace out
i also like how this song just cuts off at the end. its almost as if what ever his (artitst) mind was doing wile he was sleeping just flat lined (but not awake yet)
awesome! this song takes patients and a good ear.today before waking i had a series of disturbing dreams interesting that i run into this convo about dreams just hours later unintentionally.i often visit weird places as different beings not always myself and not always human.i experience everything vividly down to the breaths i take yet im in a fog. i communicate with people i know other times with unknown entities. i have been traumatized by some dreams others have educated me.
@nonphixional1 thats a good idea! ive already have like 90 dream (that i could remember written down some ranging from a small paragragh to 3 pages long! alot of them are very interesting too!
I was listening to Geogaddi at work, and left my desk for a bit, came back and this song was on. My co-worker was looking at the cd player with this look of horror on her face. I always was creeped out by this song but I just realized it uses samples from a number station, which is super-creepy.
1 John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
a number station is a radio station of an unknown origin created for the sole purpose of sending an encrypted message for a specific receiver. they are mostly used by spies, some run for a short periods of time while others just loop seemingly endlessly.
They have such a unique sound, by it can get (this song in particular) quite repetitive. This song is nearly the same thing copied and pasted for over 3 minutes. Oh well.
Is repetativeness really boring? Does not a gyroscope turn and oscillate repetatively? Could that not be the imagery that Boards of Canada is trying to evoke in this song? Further depth lies in the voice of the child in the background, but I won't bore you with the details. I just encourage you to look deeper into the music.
'Eoin: I dreamed the sound of [Gyroscope], and although Ive recreated dreamt songs before, I managed to do that one so quickly that the end result was 99 percent like my dream. It spooks me to listen to it now'
This track is absouluty brilliant. It really gives me a vivid picture in my mind of one of those things that turn and you get pictures out of it... (weather that is called a gyropscope or not someone plz correct me). Any the vison i get is amazing esspecially when ive smoked some grass. Takes me to a dark and mysterious but beautiful place that i love.
To my taste, BoC songs are in general ambient, mysterious, but not dark. But Gyroscope definitely is dark (well, Geogaddi is darker than their other albums anyway).
@rhodes1986 dreams are apparently a mental dump of where some thoughts and memories are placed to be removed from the memory parts of the brain, thats why most time's u can't remember the dreams.
Try reading the info to the right of the video: Quote" feedback is always appreciated".. Therefore you are wrong. When someone asks for feedback it means they are asking for your opinion. Thus once again you fail.
That's about the video moron, not the song. The video is great; the song is a fucking masterpiece. That you can't see that proves what a waste of skin and a retard you are. Your opinion isn't welcome here anyway. Otherwise people wouldn't have rated it negatively. DUH!
I like Enya too, but she and BoC are two completely different acts. Comparing them is just dumb. This song is not for playing in your car. It's a headphone song, for listening privately.
Sorry if I offended you, it's just I can't stand it when people who obviously don't get what BoC are about slag their songs. This is not the best BoC song, I'll give you that, but it is a great song nevertheless.
I think it's one of their more emotional, actually. By itself it's not the best but it definitely portrays a very vivid image--a negative one, but a vividly imaginable one regardless.
Every song BoC puts out has a redeeming quality. Listen to this track backwards sometime.
Of Geogaddi, I most enjoy 'Music is Math' out of that albums more haunting/dark tracks. It's just so haunting yet beautiful. My second favorite from that list is 'The Devil is in the Details' and 'You Could Feel the Sky'. Of the vignettes I think 'Over the Horizon Radar' is the best, with 'A is to B as B is to C' coming a close second.
As for the happier tracks 'July and Candy' and 'Dawn Chorus' are the best.
As for the best track on the album: '1969'! It's flawless.
Yeah, I really like this one, and then "Alpha and Omega", "Sunshine Recorder", "The Beach at Redpoint", "Over the Horizon Radar" (Beautiful!) and "Opening the Mouth" are my favorites, but Geogaddi is easily my favorite album by any artist EVER, so it's not like I dislike any of them.
The beach at Red Point is one of my favourites too. I think BoC and Aphex Twin are two of the only artists who have produced an album where I've loved every single track.
"Kinda experimental for me, feedback is always appreciated."
Well, I'm not currently tripping, but you made me forget that for a little bit. I think you should experiment some more and do some amazing things. Play with elements like color and speed. :)
