i have a q6600 and i got it up to 3.2 and its doable it idles the same as a 3ghz overclock but its 3 degrees hotter under load that the 3 ghz overclock. So u should try just make sure u have a good cooler

So he mayby dont nedd to raise fsb much, standart on this is fsb on 333Mhz and multiplayer is 9, så if you raise the multiplier with on so you got 10 then you got 333Mhz more on the core, an eksmpl , withbe : 9x multiplier, : 3Ghz 10x Mutiplier 3.33Ghz, see

just raise multiplier to 12 youve nearly got 4Ghz, but remember its only qx you can raise multplier with! and remember to give a little more voltage

what some loooosers ! do you call that overclock, 3-3.8Ghz isnt much, i easy get 4.4Ghz on my e3110 xeon its the same as e8400 that standart run 3Ghz, i think mayby its their ram ther gets them to crash its also need to tell how much ram means in oc, if you got a super motherboard, and a cpu there is good to ocbut some shit ram you dont get long, ! and if it is a quad core its normally not take så much fsb speed ,but its a qx9650 i can see, så he can rais the multiplier- to be continued...

it's NOT a QX9650, its a Q9650...one has an unlocked multiplier, and the other doesn't so do us a favor and keep quiet.

Their 3 tips for overclocking are

1. Start slowly and increase FSB

2. Increase Vcore, just pump it up.

3. Run benchmark

Like totally disregard the fact that when you increase FSB the ram frequency also increases and if you use crap ram then it's BSOD all the time , unless a SLI mobo with unlinked ram ratio is run.

I second to that. Thanks to BIOS on my EVGA 780i i was able to push my E6600 from 2.4ghz to 3.4ghz. patriot 8 gig of DDR2 running running at 1007mhz and my idle temp is only 30c load is 42c with air cooling provided by Zalman 9700. ohh and CPU voltage is 1.42

No mate, crysis is optimised for quad core, I have run it on a quad a duo core and the physics is much much smoother on a quad. Graphics all look a lot nicer too, even though the settings were exactly the same.
