  • Please understand the various schools well.

  • I am in the process of learning about Buddhism. I'm really interested because I've tried Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. None of it really had any special meaning to me. I like the idea that it's not really a "religion" per-say, but a way of life. Congrats on your road to Buddhism and hopefully I'll have good luck as well. :-)

  • verse OM MANI PADME HUM 1oo times EVERY MORNING.......... lORD BUDDHA BLESS YOU!

  • Going to meditate now :-)

  • Why im looking into this is because Buddhism is about peace and finding joy and happiness and thats awesome also it is accepting of other religions and doesnt try and convert people and try and get others to believe what you believe and also self-realization

  • First off, you are a very handsome man :)

Secondly I too will be studying buddhism and look forward to my journey into it and what it can offer me as I try to understand myself and the world around me more.

I hope your journey is a positive one and good luck! :)

  • FAKE

  • @gleffew11 i see that is your favorite word. Thanks for your post.

  • @gleffew11 i mean cmon.. life cannot be an illusion and you cant reach nirvana and all that... no prob

  • I take refuge in the Buddha,

I take refuge in the Dharma,

I take refuge in the Sangha... my journey has also started.

  • I am from the state of New Jersey in USA and I became a lay Buddhist practitioner on Vesak in 2008. I am a follower of the Theravada school as I found the Mahayana and other schools to be too concentrated on deities and other metaphysical beings and holding regular people up as holy etc etc. while Theravada is most concentrated on the original teachings of the Buddha and that the Buddha was just a man.

Good luck in your path and I hope it is going well. The peace of the world be with you.

  • Dude.. You're on the website for my religion-schoolbook! xD

  • @AlicesFanpire hey there. Which website are you referring to? :-)

  • @RobbieBobbyBoy A Norwegian one. You probably wouldn't understand it, but you can always use Google Translate, lol! :P lokus.no/?marketplaceId=4880522&languageId=1&siteNodeId=12435599 I swear to Buddha- (well not really, but you get the point.) -it's not virus or things like that! It's just random! :)

  • @AlicesFanpire Oh very cool! :-)

  • What made you decide to go into buddhism? Was it a drastic step from your old religion (if applies)?

  • @candykis33 the desire for change in my life. I seemed to lack faith in my self and my future.

  • Weak minded & silly - You are taking the easy way of chanting & trying to feel good about yourself... (very western & NOT real buddisim at all - Believe what you want as they spoon feed you & then say have an open mind)...

Give me a break - You'll only scratch the surface with boot camps & the like.

I've lived it --- (I'm not knocking you - Just the silliness of what their style is sucking you & others into. False Buddhism!!!! You don't even know... Oh well keep running towards what they say.

  • @BramaCity Do you know anything about Nicherin buddhism. The practice is about chanting nam myoho renge kyo but also taking action. A buddhist does not force their beliefs on others, a buddhist does not preach. There are many paths to wholeness, it is not just or fair to claim your path is correct. I am happy and 200 000 other people who practice this buddhism in Europe would agree with me. Thank you for your comments friend.

  • @BramaCity they are not boot camps, they are a place to study, learn about Buddhism, listen to lectures, meet others who are study and practice. Honestly it isnt as shallow and flase as you say. It is a humanistic religion based on creating value in society. no dogma no obesssion with ritual, just focus on developing happiness and compassion. what is so wrong with that?

  • @BramaCity Where is your compassion? You should be happy that 'RobbyBobbyBoy' is on a right path. Buddhism is not about throwing stones, Namaste.

  • If you take up buddhism you must give up all worldly things. You are talking about the western version of buddhism NOT the true version. FREEDOM from want is key & absolute. Anything else would not be buddhism.

Buddhism camp? Sounds like a money making system to pull in the weak minded that want to believe in something without giving up their jobs, cars, homes, etc...

Western Buddhism is NOT what is real. (I'm not saying robbie is weak - just saying you must be looking for something).

  • @BramaCity there are many paths to wholeness. the buddhism i practice is the buddhism of daily life. it is about developing a strong sense of self, about developing love and compassion for your self and others. It is based on the Lotus Sutra as taught by Shakyamuni. however... there is very little dogma, and ritual. The course was a small amount of money, which paid for food and lodging that is it. have an open mind friend. dont be so closed off until you learn more about something. :)

  • buddhist journey is very valuable

  • I enjoyed your video but you did fail to mention there are deities you CAN pray to like vishnu

  • @RevDragonlighter the buddhism i practice we do not focus on deities. it is a practice for daily life. we chant, we study the lotus sutra and we have faith in our lives.

    :)

  • thanks for the video..please get in touch..i need to know before i give up...;(

  • @lydialolly Hi Lydia, what do you want to know? - Robbie

  • Yes I have lost touch with my spirtual side as well, I think becomming a buddhist would be an amazing journey, I would want to become one aswell and I would want to live were all those monks live it seems very spritual and beatiful, any suggestions on how to begin my journey?

  • @Aldersees75 you can begin by chanting nam myoho renge kyo daily.

  • Read Tipitaka (3 baskets) It's the original teaching of the Buddha. It's also known as The Pali Canon. Google on the internet

    Meditate base on satipatana sutta.

    Keep 5 precepts:

    1) Abstain from Killing Living Beings

    2) Abstain from Stealing and Taking Without Permission

    3) Abstain from Sexual Misconduct

    4) Abstain from Lying (Gossip, Harsh Speech, Idle chat)

    5) Abstain from Intoxicated Drinks & Drugs

  • Well, Robbie, aren't you the cutest! I am also a Buddhist, Buddhism is cool. God bless ya mate. :)

  • i'd like to become a Buddhist but i need more time to think about it :P

  • cool:D

  • i`m starting my buddhist journey but i dont know where to start

  • hi , ilove japan , Go to Accesstoinsight and read the "beginning" What is Theravada Buddhism? .love his "life is not just suffering" article.practise " Satipatthana Sutta: Frames of Reference "..To robbie, Good luck bro, i m a londer2. The lord buddha simply teaches that " Cravings/attachments cause suffering". So follow "Satipatthana " meditation methods and you will feel the TRUE inner happiness within hours of getting it in mind. Life is fun ones understood the " Impermanence and Not self"

  • @ilovejapan888 Begin by Chanting nam myoho renge kyo

  • @ilovejapan888 praying to Jesus is better than meditation and provides more benefit

  • @STARNPRODUCTIONS so you have tried meditation? Buddhism isnt just about meditation. there are a lot of similar values to the Christian faith. Its not about what is "better" everyone has their own path. Jesus is one path to the source/god/universe. We all want the same things in life. It matters not how we get there. What matter is how we treat other people and how we live our lives.

  • @RobbieBobbyBoy yes I have meditated lots in the past. It was a checkpoint toward Christianity for me. I agree with your words, however, God is a step higher than the universe, being his product. Don't mean to give you trouble, I just see more benefit in prayer. Have a good day friend. cheers.

  • @STARNPRODUCTIONS Thanks for your comment. Buddhists dont just meditate. We also have prayer just like you. Unlike other religions we respect and honour the beliefs of others and we do not try to convert others. Buddhism is a life philosphy not strictly a religion. God and the universe, as well as you are one. There is no separation.

  • @ilovejapan888 the best place to start is to attempt to find a temple or meditation center near you... other then that.. you really do NOT need anyone to make you a buddhist.. you can take the refuge on your own. The path is truly something you start on and complete on your own, from within.

  • @ilovejapan888 Buddhism isn't about the teaching of an great teacher from Nepal. He was just one of the thousands in the universe to came down to guide us. It's more of a way of living, never a way of worshiping. If one does worship, it would be to worship oneself to gain the wisdom, compassion and respect and to care for others and keep a balance between one and the universe. The word Buddhism is just a word to describe this essence. The actions speak louder than words.

  • @muffdriver69 wise words :-)
