I'm a New Yorker, and most of us hate this design. It doesn't fit the skyline. I want love to see Twin Towers put back, but make em taller. We have the tech to blow a plane out of the sky over the river, so a threat like that wouldn't work.
EVERYBODY- look at the ZEITGEIST movie, google an updated version
If they rebuild ed the original towers then they wasted billions on construction that is outdated. The freedom tower is more futuristic, and because of that it doesn't fit in with the New York skyline.

They will be above ground in probably about February March of 2009 by the end of 2009 the base will be complete. It might be even closer now then February maybe even January. Lower Manhattan is going to look great one year from now with the New Goldman Sachs Headquarters and the rising towers i might even do an update for the New Goldman Sachs Headquarters it's a beautiful building it's almost complete too, infact it's topped out the cladding just needs to get put on
actually i went to the goldman sachs hq about 3 weeks ago and it looks marvelous, it is a HUGE building, it is great to see a fellow skyscraper enthusiast like yourself, i concur, the skyline of lower manhattan will be spectacular in 3 or 4 years

Apparently, not at all. A representative said that construction is still moving forward and that the stock market crisis won't be a factor.

No, there will only be one building constructed on that part of the site. The two cranes are currently installing steel columns for the foundation.
