simple question. What if we started to use our own oil? What if we stopped shipments from China to America for all that they make? If you know what real communism is about and possibly read Karl Marx, you can not argue that China is communistic! Communism means that communities of people have the power and all possesions belong to all the people e.g. the State. China however is a very centrally governed country that nowadays provides economic welfare to its people. But knows no freedom of speech or freedom of press. Otherwise, everyone copied each other. The m240 is the FN MAG 58, the m249 is FN minimi, the MK16/17 is FN SCAR, The type 88 is the PKM, the Valmet m78 is the RPK, the m60 is the MG 42, the AK is the STG 44, the QBZ is the SA 80, so on and so forth. In vietnam, there are places to hide, places where the native inhabitants know there way around. Any wairy soldier whether is a US or chinese soldier would have been dead in 5 minutes if they were not careful. Same goes for the Mediterranean. Its hot all the time, vehicles break down because of dust, and there are many caves where the enemy can hide. China wouldnt do any better then the US in these regions.

Guirilla warefare is quite different from your average battlefield you see. and china would not have been able to do anything more than we could.

Even if they re-militarize, they will not have the influence or soft power of China, USA or Russia. For simple reasons, China, the US have better economy. Russia is picking up too. Military is doubtlessly important, but too many overlapping factors apply, so it is really hard to say. Japan will take a long time to reach superpower status, if it ever will, that is.
