  • The Acela not the Class 460. But the Acela usually goes like that and thats fast

  • Holy shite. If you know about my fictional country Leubantia then the Acela lookalike Class 460 goes up to 180 mph. And I thought that was kinda slow, but its faster than anything here in ruddy old UK! :(

  • @class377 Except the Eurostar which goes through London and can go 186...

  • that was fast

  • Polish Siemens Velaro looks nicer :)

  • With exception to the TGV and ICE, there are NO trains in the world that can compare to the beauty of the Acela.

  • You' re right, prorobo. As a TGV fan, I think the Acela is among the most gorgeous trains I' ve ever seen! If only it could be used to its full potential, like on dedicated tracks, that thing would greatly reduce travel time from Washington, D.C. and New-York, and Boston, and beyond. Who knows. Why not? Everything is possible if we put our mind to it. 'We' being the power-that-be of course, because if it were up to 'We the People', we would get the best. The Acela is very successful.

  • Oh I know that, but the Acelas has a tilting mechanism so that the train doesn't have to slow for curves.

  • Probably 125.

  • Wrong. Maybe 80 tops. The Acela's only true high speed section is through Kingston.

  • Actually Its 135 from Ham to County. It was probably just increasing from 115 or so.

  • @prorobo and thereis a short section in MA along with Kingston where the Acela boasts a speeding 150 mph!

  • do you know how fast it was going?
