  • Yeah, after I speared a Stingray and it drug me around for 20 minutes I was a lot more careful about what I shot and where I shot it.

I guess a Tuna or a big Grouper could take you all the way to Tahiti if you missed a vital spot and hung on.

  • @hammerogod LOL.....yeah, it pays to be mindful of "what to shoot" and "where".

  • dont bring this downtown shit below the surface, keep the above the surface shit up there where it belongs. i know what your saying, but, the beauty of below is to leave all that shit up there. and one more thing, spearing the tiny fish did'nt help your cause

  • @fullchoke77 Pump da Brakes......first off, dat little fish is tasty...secondly the point of the video is to mix it up (in your words "above surface" and "below")... The two mix, if you ain't got it topside, you ain't gettin' below!

finally, I got no cause....so da little fish was a nice snack, and that's all I got that day (my failure or not, part of the title).

  • does anyone know who this talker is, hes great and right lol

  • @charlie000111 Mike Savage, major radio talk show guy in US......G'day, UC

  • Shit, I don't know if I should watch the video or listen to the audio, but one hell of a job putting this up! Does anyone know the name of the background music? I heard it a couple years ago but can't remember the name.

  • @Icanzreads Dang, Mahalo for feedback.....tune is by The Crystal Method on the Album "Tweekend", title is "Tough Guy" (and the lyrics are hilerious)... Aloha, UC

  • Do i have the right audio?

  • @shanemeares YES

  • im going spear fishing with a real spear no gun just barbed tip spear just look and stab i would film it but my dads under water camera is broke cracked lens

  • @ridicule401 Go get'em Tiger, sounds like fun.....maybe I'll try that someday!!

  • @UnderseaCaveman cheers for the support

  • @jwhuck87 ppl eat parrot fish all over the world, ppl dont eat it in areas where they carry ciguatera.... same with barracudas, where its safe ppl eat them

  • Who is the radio talk back guy? billiant !

  • @bucko737 -- I am not kidding, Mike Savage!! (hence the title). Thanks for watching, Aloha!

  • I love this video. I keep comming back to watch and listen to it one more time, lol. I love diving there too, unfortunately no one likes to go with me. They think i am nuts.

  • @imhoff8585 I would go....lol :/

  • first time i watched this i was at work and couldn't hear the audio (i work at a bar). i watched it about two days later and listened to the commentary, and I must say that is one hell of a lecture and i certainly do agree. persistence is the key to success.

  • @gilesreb I totally appreciate your commentary..... absolutely right, nobody ever was just "handed success" (save a few billionaire brats, if has to be called "success".....caveat, "earning it, is the sweetest reward")... Aloha, UC

  • @UnderseaCaveman Thats how it is at my house...in my life,,, and i think im starting to like EARNING THINGS... (im 13)

  • woah. that is such a good reef i have just started spear fishing but i cant hold my breath while spear fishing for shit.

i need help just advice i am so keep.

i just need help i am no expert. at all.

  • Google "Apnea Training Stromberg".

Bill Stromberg lists three basic routines to increase breath-hold: Static, walking and staircase.

very good exercises... dive safe, UC

  • @UnderseaCaveman.. thank you a lot safe spear fishing from Australia. : )

  • @im4everyoung what is your problem with Aussies? are you that backward?

  • @TheFained i fucking live in australia dipshit????

  • you have a great spearfishing canon, but you are using it for the wrong fish! try your spearfishing gun for blue water fish! you will have better results. and buy a smaller one made of aluminium or carbon fiber... they are smaller and easier to cut the water! nive hunting spot you have...

  • Ya, thanks ... good tip.... "get smaller gun for reef"....carbon fiber kind, cool!

  • Great message! Combining the Savage Nation and spearfishing, what a concept.

  • Mahalo

  • Bra you really gota pull the snap shots on uhus ah?I go for the whiptails, red lips, and if dat fails pananus LOL.

  • "Snap Shots"??? Yeah, that's a weakness of mine.... mindset on controlled and tight shots (ie, close range).

  • hey bro what type of camera were you using and what island were you on. Nice spots btw.

  • Takochaser,

I am using an INTOVA800, filmed off Kaena Point, Oahu....yeah, it's a great diving spot.

  • would you not say its more praying upon the curiosity of the Uhu (we have same sort od thing in australia, we call them goatfish :D) when you throw the sand up.

i do it for a variety of species n the less timid species are often coming in hoping for a free feed by there sort of arogence when they approach

  • Oh, we have goatfish too.. the Uhu isParrotfish.

Anyway, a very debatable question "preying on their curiosity" or "prodding them into defensive".?

It probably depends from specie to specie.. I'll have to make more observations.

  • how do you cook the fish you caught in the vid?

  • Hey Maui,

I just fillet'ed the fish, and grilled it...I think it can pan-fried as well. Aloha, UC

  • Oh GT, awesome hame... da kine Ulua, sick fish. I would love to hunt big one sometime (happy to start with a 20 pounder, plenty fight already).

I heard they "head-butt" scuba divers...like dangerously high-rate of speed and mass (plus 100-pounders and in packs no less).. enough to break ribs/render dazed or worse unconscious!!

  • shoots brah, that sucks....

    sorry, what's GT?

  • dang, there was some murfs, that last blue was hudge!!!!great diving!i love that area,i've gotten some big one's around there

  • Right on, Cash, good eye... yeah that big at end would have been awesome, I learned some things on that dive (upon reflection----"must hide more body, smaller optical signature")./ Mahalo dude, see you out there sometime.

  • there was some nice size kalas over there

  • Letum,

Hmmm..... had Kala before, no like the limu taste too much... you know if any better "smoked"... can you smoke Kalas?

  • Awesome video! I love the Savage audio and the music in the background of the video. That made it epic.

  • Conserve1001BG,

    Mahalo, UC

  • Svah,

I think it's more "Survivalist" than strictly modern interpretation of Polarizing Political labels, aka "conservative propaganda"...

Your sentence construction suggests you are "Progressive Liberal"....

Sustainable Progress is only achieved under "tension between the left and the right"..... Let me know if that makes any sense to you. Thanks for watching, Mahalo, UC

  • nice speech but I feel tricked since you snuck it into the video

  • Gabe,

I made claim in the title, opening of video, that I was JUXTAPOSITIONING my spearfishing with a Savage Speech...

eh, sometimes, get nice surprise when tricked.... !

    Aloha, UC

  • Nice video. It was cool to watch you spearfish. I do have to say, however, that Michael Savage doesn't know what he's talking about. I'm fairly young and I've been in sales for years. I'm told no all the time, but it doesn't stop me. This is a classic case of a grumpy old man ranting about today's youth. Pure opinion, nothing more. If he's such a great and persistent salesman, put him on a car lot next to me and see how he does.

  • spud-stang, I believe you.... good on ya'... I don't think Savage was talking about your type (go-get'ems)... Aloha, UC

  • @mrjustin5...you are a child, that's why you don't get it about Savage. Maybe you should ask your daddy a few questions and listen with comprehension, 'cause Savage is talking about YOU.

  • God Michael Savage is disgusting. All he does is talk. I have no idea why my dad listens to that idiot all the time... and he's got his big fat Michael Savage book on the coffee table and talks about Savage as if he's a member of the family.

Michael Savage is just a talker. All he does is blab on and on spinning yards and yards of nonsense. People buy it, too. They think since he makes PARTIAL sense about some things, he's some sort of wizard or saint. Wake up, people. He's a stooge.

  • He's a talker because that's his job lol.

You need talkers in a society to inspire ideas. I think he had a point to an extreme degree. But nonetheless, the information was invaluable to me.

  • LOL USCM, I love your videos left brain / right brain mix! BTW you didn't buy your boat from Mike did you LOL!! The footage and the parrots were special. Good to see you in the water again!! Cheers man5*

  • dstick,

Mahalo Bro, yeah it was a fun dive, despite missing the Uhu.

The boat is getting closer, we are in process of painting the bilge and ready to glass in the deck. Will do a Part 2 of Seaswirl (which Mike?, but no it wasn't a Mike).

    Cheers Mate, UC

  • LOL, I was Picturing you saying "No!" to the Boat and Mike Savage selling it to you full of passengers!! ( As an aside - Savage is the name of a boat build in Aussie) Hopefully will have a vid of us chaing Uhu up soon!! Take care looking forward to part 2 Seaswirl!

  • hahaha, sorry ... I doped on that one (Mike)... had to rush out of house for travel.

  • He he he, I knew the penny would drop sooner not later :}

  • the sale begins when the customer says no, huh? I can't stand those kinds of people. A week ago someone asked if i wanted to donate i said no they said that trivial question "are you sure..." and i said i only know how to say no in two languages how many more times do i got to say it to be on my merry way. LOL...i see what this guy is saying but you gotta know where to draw the line....

  • cdholder,

Good copy, when the person has crossed the line, but

What he is really saying about "Salesmanship" is If everybody always says "YES", do you need any skills that more broadly termed as "Persuasive" (a form of argument or writing/communication)? NO, you wouldn't..... So the test of "Persuasiveness" begins when one meets resistance. Finally, I'd like to add that perhaps "Salesmanship" could be extended in meaning beyond the colloquial.....Everything is life is Market Action!!!

  • Wow, Great views ;D Take care man!

  • lastvaquero,

Mahalos, sorry so slow... take care, Aloha, UC

  • Awesome, glad you enjoyed.

  • Mahalo

  • OTE, Mahalo

  • He's Back! I really missed these underwater videos.Nice touch with the savage clip.

  • Hey Johnny,

Mahalos, yeah I been getting digging Savage lately (not agree with everything, but the man is wise).

  • Yep, the sale (life) begins (to show its' strength) when the customer (other fifty percent in a communication) says no. Sometimes, who we truly are, deep down, is exposed in only the most difficult times. We are survivors! Rock on, my friend! What can be the end for some should only be the beginning.... ~Namaste

  • True Mikwid, Aloha, UC

  • Interesting vid "music", I notice you dove Mok's, I never dove there before but have heard good things. How was it?

  • Yeah, Mokuleia is worth the drive out. Been there 4 times, only one time "No good" (or gotta adjust to conditions) due to really strong currents. Other than that one time, it's nice.

  • omfg. you rock.

  • Uh-uh...thanks

  • *****

  • :)>)

  • excellent ....love the way you put this together...5*****

  • cv, Mahalo

  • hey! ur my idol i watch all ur vids. Ive only been spearing with a sling for about 6 months now and am still learning the ropes. have any suggestions for really nice places to spear and kinda get good practice? spots that stay like 25 deep at the most? any suggestions? with plenty fish too? thot i'd ask. couldnt hurt.

    safe diving!

  • Pizzamanapua,

Hehehe, if you find the place with plenty fish and less the 25deep (on Oahu), I like know too..

Nah, serious, you da man if you shootin' with Sling. That's harder, but also makes you better.

Well, for safety, townside is better (less strong currents).

    Safe Divin'

  • lol. thanks 4 reply. i'll let you know when i find that "secret spot". been venturing out North Shore and i know what u mean by currents. tough stuff. ima get a gun soon i think. thanks 4 advice. keep diving and keep taking the sick vids. i learn alot from them.

    stay safe god bless
