OH THAT VOICE - I GROW UP WITH THIS "SMILING VOICE! who makes me so happy all my life... THANKS ALICE FOR YOUR REMAKABLE LIFE OF INTERPRETATIONS of the most lovely songs we have...
I have tryd to find this song of Alice Babs on Spotify, but i didn't find it. Can you help me to find it . Wath is the title of the recod, or give me some other trace, please...
@Simeonseaborn I think the disc was called Scandinavian songs and made perhaps in the 60’s but that’s all i know. You may look for the “Swe-Danes” it was a group they had
@antoniod I added that later because there's obviously a band but in fact I'm not sure who the other musicians are, i asumed it was Ulrich Neuman on guitar. I'm sorry if I got it wrong
I think a more exakt translation of the swedish lyric, keeping the nonsens would be... Hmm..
"Now the hare jumps as the crows do, over the meadows white grass - Now glides the kite (as in the small bird, milvus migrans or milvus milvus) swiftly through the thickets of the fish (refering to seaweed) OR Now slips the kite upon the snowy thickets.
In long lopes and 'längslar' my body in Molom moves,
the tarnslation from swedish would be hard do to the fack that half of the words are nosenc words the writher has made up. Alf hambe is one of swedens bigers song wrighter and is held high. he has made many strange song that speek to your soul
Alice Babs has nearly perfect vocal control and is one of the very few singers who can make sour notes sound sweeter than sweet notes. She has an amazing ability to switch pitches and deliveries withing a song and can sound like several different singers within one song. Her visual presence on all of her videos is great and she sounds so natural and is the least pretentious singer I have ever heard.
I haven't heard of Alice Babs until two days ago. She is as good a singer as any female vocalist of pop music for the past 100 years. Excellent video and this is my favorite song on You Tube. I have played it over 100 times.
I once had the LP record with Alf Hambe and it was so different. But there is something with this arrangement I like, maybe the violins and of course Alice Babs.

It's difficult to translate, not because it's archaic, but because it's poetic gibberish. :)

In my opinion the singing by Alice is the closest to a perfect song sung by any female vocalist.

Is this really a Swe-danes track?

I agree, this is a rather odd arrangement.
I once had the LP record with Alf Hambe and it was so different. But there is something with this arrangement I like, maybe the violins and of course Alice Babs.
