  • Excellent-ly done...Julie Andrews would have been proud both of Audra's singing AND her natural way with the audience. something Ms.Andrews herself has in spades!

  • Just wonderful.

  • some people seem to have to break down some singer in order to assert their love for another one...strange...I'm sure Julie or whoever else would be more than happy to praise Audra's voice, and it would be mutual admiration I'm sure...to not recognize the magnificent voice of miss McDonald is not only rather dumb because it only prooves you're probably tone-deaf, but also just plain ignorant...

  • Absolutely fantastic! I am not sure but I am tempted to say: BETTER THAN THE ORIGINAL!

  • Magical :]

  • She has such a way with the audience. She is amazing.

  • How "loverly" :)

  • Whitney Houston? Shes crappy! Audra is fantastic! Magnificent! This is the first time I've heard her and just once is all you need to know she's a wonderful soprano! Houston indeed! No comparison !

  • Shut the hell up

  • @WorldCupSeoul Do you ever go here?

  • "HER conductor." How arrogant.

  • Imagine the smell of booze pouring out of all the mouths of the audience singing on New Year's Eve. And the garlic too. Just gross.

  • How stupid. it's not "way too famous." What a dumb comment.

  • shut the hell up

  • oh. my. gawd. she's AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Impressive!

  • Dammit!! I love Broadway music, and I am not gay.

  • I'm singing this song for my singing lessons:) love this song

  • She is such a radiant beauty!! :D

  • @HowPoetic she's in A Rasin In the Sun (newer version) as Ruth. she is AWESOME!

  • She is a wonderful soprano.

  • Such a nice voice Thank you God Thank you so Much to put such a Wondefull voice in the World :')

  • she is exquisite

  • I just burst into giddy laughter at 2:36! I love it!!!

  • 20 people disliked this? okay i understand you disliking some musical theatre shit, but you cant dislike Audra!

  • She killed this song!!!!!!!!

  • @mosaic05 If you mean she did an atrocious job of it, you're being kind of silly. If you want to say that you don't like her as well as Julie Andrews, fine. But Audra has an excellent voice and she did a wonderful job with this song. She does an excellent job with almost everything she sings.

  • @ChicagoSouthDan In MY circle of musical friends "killed" means you did an awesome job. I LOVE Audra! She is one of my favorite singers. I love Julie's version as well. They both "killed" it!

  • @mosaic05 Whoops. Sorry about that.

  • @ChicagoSouthDan Stop playing with cock. fagg.

  • @mosaic05 My apologies! Although I am sitting down, I stand corrected. I join you in your appreciation of Audra's incredible talents.

  • @mosaic05 Try listening to it again after you have put new batteries in your hearing aid.

  • @MROSEN62 In MY circle of musical friends "killed" means you did an awesome job. I LOVE Audra! She is one of my favorite singers. Oh...I have excellent hearing and an exceptional taste in music. Thank You.

  • She's beautiful... and has great charisma! And she's a tremendous talent.

  • Wow! Sounds like Kiri.

  • not...julie.

  • Bravaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

  • Wow, she has a beautiful voice!

  • She has a great voice!

  • She's Awesome!!!

  • She has a very pretty voice! And she is enjoyable to listen too!

  • Oh I wish she had owned this song!! Inviting the audience to sing was so generous. Good for her sharing the spotlight.

  • GOD DAMNNN..that was so cool. very fun to watch..I didn't know she had such a beautiful operatic voice.

  • great voice and orchestration. audra makes julie andrews sound sick ROGHARM i love audra comments!!!!!!!!**********ROGHARM fabulous post thank you

  • "I know you know it, sopranos!" Love her.

  • Congratulations Gourgeous voice......

  • Nice. Very nice. Have a look at quite simillary arranged polish version of this song sung by our top operette diva Grazyna Brodzinska. The song is called "Przetanczyc cala noc".

  • Audra, I love you, I truly do and it's a game try but, as your rather nervous preamble attests, this song belongs to one person and one person only, Julie Andrews, and no-one else can even come close to matching her version in terms of vocal beauty and effortless agility

  • Incrível ! A melhor interpretação que ouvi dessa música até hoje ! Que voz ! Que vibrato ! Audra the best !

  • Ah. Dahnced. The character is learning to speak properly here!

  • @TwistingWays. With either accent, it should still be a long 'a' in danced.

  • Audra does have a great voice of course but still ..what I just heard doesn't even come close to Julie Andrews ..There is that quality and texture to her voice that is just singular and in a class by itself...like when Julie hits the high note in The Sound Of Music on Do Ra Mi ..Is it high C or whatever ...I mean, Damn ...who sounds THAT good ??! No ONE ...xo

  • It's either a B FLAt and B I don't remember which one. But you could that right! haha! I love that note!!

  • B flat :) FAR better than the low C Mary Martin did on broadway xD

  • @PeaceFan1 ok... but who's comparing her to Julie?

  • @PeaceFan1 I know!!! Julie Andrews is amazing, I think I've never heard a voice so clear and soft and a register of notes so impressive. No one, Whitney Houston may be close if I think it carefully but still, Andrews is the best

  • @loreaguirre23

Both Audra and Julie are great. Which you like better is personal taste.

If you're impressed by vocal range and angelic tones, perhaps you might like to listen to Natalie Dessay, possibly the greatest lyric coloratura soprano ever, sing the Bell Song. She also did a bang-up job on Bernstein's Glitter and Be Gay. I wish she would do some of the Lerner/Lowe and Rogers/Hammersein songs.

  • @PeaceFan1 It doesn't really make sense to compare. Audra and Julie have totally different voices tonally. It's like when people compare Audra singing "My Man's Gone" and Leontyne Price singing the same song. It's apples and oranges. Audra won 4 Tony awards before the age of 40. Julie Andrews didn't come close to that. In fact, despite 3 nominations, she has never one one (which is ridiculous). It just depends on your perspective, I suppose.

  • @PeaceFan1 It's so frustrating to watch a video of a great singer and see comments comparing them to someone else. The world is big enough to accomodate many different wonderful singers. I'm a fan of all sorts of singers and music..Audra, Julie Andrews, Beyonce, Jazmine Sullivan, Joni Mitchell, Barbra Streisand, Renee Fleming, Cecelia Bartoli, Patti Lupone, Mahalia Jackson, Bob Dylan, Janis Joplin and Jeff Buckley. They all have very different voices and they're all great.

  • "shhhhhhhhhhhh..this is my solo" LMAO i love her

  • I've seen and heard Audra McDonald perform at Ravinia a beautiful outdoor venue in the Chicago suburb of Highland Park. On a warm summer night she began to sing and then suddenly stopped. She kinda coughed and then laughed and said,"A bug just flew in my mouth!" When the conductor asked if she wanted to continue or start over she said,"Let's start over, but this time without the bug." True professional and the show went on.

  • Ms. Audra McDonald sang beautifully!

No wonder she is a four-time Tony Award-winner.

I wish to hear more of her performance!

  • My god, after listening to this I have cried, it is incredible, divine...no words are woth to describe it...

  • She did pretty good. She did what most singers do and try to make the song their own, but she forgets that this song is owned by Marni Nixon and most importantly Julie Andrews. It is an impossible feat as whoever sings this song is compared to Julie Andrews, and quite honestly who can compare with Julie Andrews.

  • i dont like her voice it fluxuates to much she could be an operatic singer....it was better done by julie and audrey

  • Audrey Hepburn didn't actually sing the song; that was Marni Nixon. Also, Audra is a classically trained singer, and she has sung in some operas.

  • WHY CAN'T I HAVE A VOICE LIKE HERS?!

I didn't know she was on Private Practice. Isn't Taye Diggs also on that too? Yay for broadway actors on TV!

  • freaking perfection!!!!!

  • In this song danced rythmes with aunts

  • Both words, dance AND aunt, are pronounced differently by different English speakers. As Professor Higgins would say, in America, we haven't used English for years. But I think it's funny that this bothers people: she's not singing in character as Eliza Doolittle, she's being herself, so why does it matter if she sings with a British accent or not?

  • she tried her best

  • SHE COULD SWALLOW A WHALE.

  • You mean because she has a big mouth, or because she can do anything?

  • Vous chantez trés bien mademoiselle.

  • ENNI a VIBRATO is necessary to sing with a pleasant sound! Nearly every singer has it. It goes with the breath.

Obviously too much vibrato is considered unpopular.

  • Too heavy a voice for it and too much vibrato. It's true, everybody sung it and yet this song still belongs to Julie Andrews. She possessed the right timbre, the required lightness, the perfect diction and the personality. Unequalled to this day. Pity we don't have her performance on film but the few snippets available on video are amazing!

  • She has nice voice, but Julie was better!!!!!

  • Couldn´t agree more with you...

  • That's why she is lovely.

  • Wow, if you don't want to sing it then don't sing it...

  • Amazing voice! Audra always surprises me!

  • I love her voice. elegant, trained, but not over done. Rich...

  • she is such a snob! why sings songs that you dont like?

  • @stacynewyork ANOTHER dumb ass comment courtesy of stacynewpork. BRAVO!! Take a bow

  • i hate it how this song stays in the end you know: All(G) Night(also G?!).... i wish its go up to the C :( oh well thats not audra's fault and given that it was written to be sung 8 times a week, julies andrews voice prolly would have exploded if she had to sing a C 8 times a week

  • sorry her speeches bore me to death!!!

  • she's got some bangin arms.

  • me and my sing this two days ago when the movie was on, afterwards i was laghing because it was my first time seeing the movue but because my mom sang it so much i already knew it

  • Is it me or did she change from a American to a British accent?

  • My Fair Lady is set in Britain and I personally think it sounds better with a British accent. I wish she had said "dah-nced" instead of the more American "danced" though.

  • haha... your funny...

  • BEAUTIFUL VOICE

  • Audra is my idol shes been my idol since i was about 4 or 5 and its weired to see her on private practice and not singing

  • It's kinda har to believe she's the same form private practice!!!

  • this was amazing. All i can say is...wow

  • wow she's brilliant:)))<3<3<3

  • hollie steel- lol also- i just watched my fair lady

  • I didn't know she could sing this way... It always surprise me when the actors from the TV-shows show their real talent.

And yes, Hollie Steel brought me here.

  • well I think Audra's been doing stage acting alot longer than tv work but yes it's certainly a treat to listen to her sing... very amazing talented woman :)

  • this is really good!!!

  • AMAZING!!!

  • Is there anything this woman can't sing?

  • i really hate vibrato

  • Really? 'cause vibrato comes from proper vocal production...

  • She's so beautiful and has a beautiful voice.

You don't hear many like this.

    X's

  • A beautiful woman with a sensational voice!!!

  • She has a beautiful voice!

  • hollie brought me

  • WAY too much bravado

  • Amazing!

  • Audra is so blessed. She is beautiful, brilliant and has talent as big as the universe! Plus she seems like a very nice person!

  • this is the most beautiful rendition I've heard yet!

  • i recognize her voice! she's the lady from the remake of annie!

  • whoa she plays Naomi on Private Practice!! I had NO idea she sung...she is amazing

  • Wow amazing, I can see where Hollie got inspired to sing this, although she doesn't compare to Audra I can say that she has monsterous talent for a 10 year old so watch out Julie and Audra :)

  • idk why I actually kinda like the other rendition (hollie's) a bit more.

  • she has such a kind spirit, you can tell in her personality and her singing

  • What A dyanmic VOICE

  • What a voice!

Took me a while to get used to the American pronunciation of 'dance' in this video. lol

  • You have an amazing voice.

  • The most incredible voice I have heard in years. Got to see her on broadway in "Ragtime". She is just incomparable. Thank you for posting.

  • прекрасно

  • lol aww she's so cute. i love audra.

and i know it'd never happen, but does anyone else think that she would make an AMAZING glinda (vocals-wise)??

  • i think she sounds too mature to play glinda.

  • She has an absolutely gorgeous voice, but I have to agree with "dude": She does sound a bit mature for glinda...

  • Maybe she can make her voice all girly like Glinda's is supposed to be?

  • she doesn't have the same pitch as

    glinda

  • Are you serious? She's about 238389457894789 times too established and amazing to ever be in Wicked. lol.

  • i think that just shows how amazing she is...the ability that she is able to have fun with the audience. What an outstanding voice. In my opinion, she has one of the best voices out there right now

  • checklorena... you need to check yourself... :-)

  • REALLY checklorena!?!?!? really?!?! audra mcdonald is one of the premiere theatre actresses on the planet... she won three tonys before she was thirty for christ sake!! ego?!?!?! are you serious?!?!?!? she is one of the most gracious performers i've ever seen... and her voice is amazing... sorry off soapbox now :-) I <3 audra!

  • [to checklorena]:

Please at least try to hide your jealousy... and besides, who are you really to be a judge of whether she is good or not? Match her accomplishments and then maybe we'll take you seriously.

    :3

  • Well, it is her concert... and she's amazing, you can't even say anything about her.

  • Very Andre Rieu when she gets the audience involved! :) She's a stitch!!

  • I could have watched it all night ...

  • wow!!!!

  • very good and shes funny!

  • wow, I didn't even know she sang! I only knew her from Private Practice... beautiful, it changes my whole perspective about her!

  • Superb song, superb showwomanship: what's not to like?

Fritz Loewe and Alan J Lerner do deserve a bit of credit, but it is a wonderful performance.

  • Superb song, superb showwomanship - what else can anyone say ...

  • she has an amzaing vilbroto

  • i agree it is the best part!

  • Bella.

  • This voice is a gift of God.

  • wat an amazing voice!

  • she is so adorable!!!!!!!

  • What a great performer. Very engaging with a Wonderful voice.

  • The song soared. The performance, captivating.

I now believe that Audra can sing anything her way and it will work. I love her voice , her personality, her style.

  • She has such an opera voice.

  • she s awesome. the first time i heard this song its actually a swing jazz version by Jamie Cullum! ...

  • Ahh Shes Yer One From Private Practice!! (The Gay Version Of Greys Anatomy!!)

  • I want to see this woman preform. I like how she involves the audience.

  • my FAVORITE song from My Fair Lady. this is a good version of Audra's but i like Marni Nixon's better.

  • I like this version. She makes it her own which is good :-)

  • yea i hav to sing this for my singing teacher, she picked this song for me cuz she thought i'de do great in it, and im only 13, give me a break woman!! haha but this is a nice song from My Fair Lady!! and i've got all the lyrics down juss i jus woke up and im tryin to wake up. so ima sing it later on when im awake!! but VERY nice song. and she's a GREAT singer. ppl on here OBVIOUSLY dont no how to sing much! cuz she's supossed to sing tht way, she's very good. tht's wat true singers sing like.

  • nice... but Julie's better... Audra uses wayy too much vibrato.

  • This is awesome...
