  • do you get phase issues from the kick mics and the over heads with the 414 and 103?

  • hey shehf, was ist mit dem Studio passiert?

  • Dude this studio is brootal =P

Wanna have one to but i just had enough money for one mic to record everything >.<

    CHeers =)

  • what brand is that multicore? sssnake by thomann by any chance??

  • @bacondrums

I think so. For the studio a cheaper multicore is ok.

Cause you don't move it around.

Live this would be not that good with people walking and driving over it.

  • @schehf thanks i want a multicore for my studio and thomann seem to have the most affordable

  • @schehf could you post an updated version of your studio tour please! :) im building my own studio and im thinking of building one the same size as this, and im using some of the same mics as you do. thanks

  • @schehf could you post an updated version of your studio tour please! :) im building my own studio and im thinking of building one the same size as this, and im using some of the same mics as you do. thanks

  • @bacondrums

Sorry, the studio doesn't exist anymore.

  • @schehf what happened to it?

  • @schehf What the hell happened to the studio?? :(

  • kaufst du alles in Just Music?

  • Man, it's too clean, where are the beer bottles? ;-)

  • LOL I didn't like the Beringher monitors low quality shit

but the Yamaha NS10 are a classic |!!!

    try Focal monitors

for a room like you have got there i recomend the Focal Solo6 are a fantastic monitors and worth each $ you spend on them ....

so stop spending your money on shit equipment....

try the Focal sub also a great subwoofer...

  • just out of curiosity I ask:) completed a school / course conjunction with sound engineering?

  • Can you please explain with more details how yo setup the mackie D8B with your computer?

  • @alfierys1

d8b has adat cards, the computer has an adat soundcard

then I connect the in and outputs with adat cables, that's it.

When you connect Midi and Wordclock cable as well

you can control start/stop... with the mackie too.

If you have software version 5 on the mackie, you can use the d8b as a control for cubase to mix, faders...

  • @schehf but only the 8 Fader-thing, right?

My d8b reacts strange since a while. I boot it up, and the faders make strange noises and the leds are out of controll. software also doesnt react the way it should..

Any Tips? I´m living in Germany and do´nt know where to send the console to repair it :((

  • @WirSindRocker

  • should we used all this for record a song?

  • Love it.

  • I'm gonna have money next year To make my OWN studio! and your the only one I could Ask but you live In UK or wherever :( I would pay up though man If you could come to USA and help set up my Studio!

  • you can only record 16 notes in your studio???? that sucks

  • Dear Schehf,

How much did all this cost you?

You can just give an estimate.

  • @disfigured75

    10 000 € is my estimate. I really don't know.

  • Thumbs up for his accent :-)

  • look awesome, sounds great! good job!

  • amaizing acoustic cover of my sweet shadow (the intro).

    really cool.

  • What do you use for the interface into your cpu? If you have 24 channel outputs from the D8B do you have a PCI card that has 24 input channels?

  • my d8b has 24 channel adat outputs.

That is 3 adat light cables

and I have a RME PCI Soundcard that

has also 3 Adat Ins and Outs, so 24 In and Out.

  • Where are you from? I have a friend from Brazil who has an accent like yours...you sound exactly the same. Just interested.

  • I am from germany.

  • Maybe I doesn't search correctly but i dont find any yamaha ns10 on sale, and i now they are awesome, Even on the yamaha site. Why?

    (sorry for my bad english)

  • They were named differently then with an M and studio or something, but no they don't built them anymore.

  • :/. Do you know any speaker that have their specificity? ( i mean their neutral sound)

  • Sorry, No, you have to try. I think the newer ones have more bass. Cause the original NS10 have none.

Under 80 Hz it is all gone.

  • Ok Thanks for thee quick reply ^^. I have an last question ( BOORING) with 150€ what are the more neutral ( best?) monitors i can have in your opinion?

  • Sorry, No idea.

I just bought what I heard and thought is good.

  • ok NP. thank you very much, your tutorials really helped me

  • Ok I have a question???? the mackie mixing board...is it a firewire mixer that you go strait to the computer or what??? please explain...

  • @AlterBridge81 No, this is a standalone mixer and it has optical cards for outputs, the computer has optical inputs. They connected via adat light cables.

  • hi schehf,

your speakers is yamaha ns10 rite?what's the difference between the speakers n yamaha ns10m?thanks..

  • I have the yamaha NS10M Studio.

I have no idea what the difference is to the ones without the "m"

  • Des ha sicha an Haufen Geld gekostes was?

  • davon kannst du ausgehen

  • No toilet in there?

  • @WTFitsLars

i recorded in a studio that didnt have a tolet so we kept having to use the cafe next door

  • awesome great record :) ImI

  • Great !!!

Dream Studio, from my point of view.

Im thinking of doing the same, eventually.

You share the info, which is great !!!

    Carry on the good work.

  • Do u have a band?

  • Great studio man.

  • The drum room sounds great!!

  • i want my own home studio!! im thinking on studying audio engineering after i finish my studies in computer technologies (programming), until then i think i better be well informed of what i need to get

  • please make more videos about recording in your studio ... you can show us how do you make a song .... I LL GIVE YOU 5 STARS ... :)

  • i really wanna get into this sort of career as a musi producer/ engineer, how did you get into it and is it hard to start off?

  • same. could you post your reply to me also!? (if you do reply)

  • There is a private school: SAE. Costs a fortune now. I started my own studio, now I work in one.

  • me too. in fact i've decided to quit studying after graduating this year to become an audio engineer.

  • Go for an intern job at a local studio (remember you wont get paid) pay alot of attention,,of course if u have decent money just buy some gear and start having fun. 5k should get u a nice entry level pro setup at your house<<

  • Realu nice studio!

We wish to you many awesome themes, tracks, compositions, covers and all thet f*cking amazing things that U're doing))

    HORNZ UP, MAN)!

  • Congratulations!

  • why overclock when you could have gotten a faster processor?

  • Because when we bought the computer, the faster CPU was too expensive.

And this Quad CPU is perfect for overcloaking, works fine.

  • that recording table behind u must have cost a fortune :O

  • Wow, this is really good looking. I also really liked that you have two different types of speakers, so you get a good mix all-over. That's my definition of a good sound-tech.

  • i have a question, how come u need 3 different preamps? u could just use one for recording everything, since basically all the preamp is connected to a microphone.

  • Because I wanted the different sounds of a tube and a good transistor preamp.

Also the focusrite is a 8 channel preamp

and the avalon is a whole channelstrip.

  • hts a cool studio set up!! what do you thing about pro tools?

  • It is great, good quality, but just too expensive.

  • Its kinda weird to see behringer monitors next to ns10's...

  • I mostly mix with the ns10s, but I wanted something way different sounding as second monitors.

The behringer have a lot of mid frequencies.

Good to see if the mix will sound good on a different sound system.

  • sweet studio schehf..

Im seeing In Flames for the first time on september 10th.

Im really excited because they are my favorite band of all time

My Favorites are jester race, colony, and clayman. Im a jesterhead too. just like to thank you for making in flames covers. they are badass.

  • we are recording other bands.

    But I use it too.

  • Your studio is amazing. Most of the drum mics you use are ones that I have looked to buy, especially the two condensers. I especially love how clean your studio is, many times when I see a video of a band's recording sessions, the studios are cluttered and/or messy.

  • I don't know the Audix Mics, never heard them, rest sounds good.

  • have you considered upgrading to Cubase 5?

  • I checked the new features and the top ones are the integrated plugins for harmony changing and a real reverb.

But I have altiverb and melodyne, that is exactly the same.

  • silly of me to ask this question.. buuuuut

what are you recording with that studio? your own stuff?

  • bands, this is a commercial studio.

  • R u gonna make a label?

  • How much do the Shure SM 50 7 and Shure SM7 cost in dollars?

  • about $100 new.. but you can buy kits with multiple sm 57s and like a beta 52 or something.("drum mic kit")

if your trying to save cash hit up Ebay, ive seen them for less than $40.

  • sm7 lies around 300 while the sm57 can be purchased for around 80

  • Du bist Deutscher Staatsbürger oder ? =) Hör ich so n bisschien aus deinem Akzent =) aber ich bin mir nicht sicher :D

  • Jupp, bin ich.

  • Really nice Schehf! Awesome to see that you guys made such a professional studio! I'm really impressed! Now you and your band can start impressing the world!

  • Wow very nice I will never have any of this stuff. Do you only do covers of InFlames? How was this funded do you rent out this space or something. I could spend years in there messing with all that gear though man.

  • That is the studio I am working in, Has nothing to do with my covers.

  • nice but why do you not mix with the d8b??It have automation faders

  • Because you are way more flexible with mixing in the computer.

    Saving, plugins, view, automation...

  • hey men are you got pop singer come to ya studio.or rnb,

  • I'm completely jealous

  • i had no idea you recorded in a studio, it looked like you just did it in ur bedroom or sumthin from the vids

  • Hi :) when is the next movie about your studio ? love you vids!

  • WOW:O

  • Nice studio, and I have one question. Do you record guitars in the same room as the drums after taking the drums down?.

  • No, I use a different room, the small one.

  • I see, thanx for the quick reply. ^_^

  • hey schehf whats up im james where about you r in maidstone

  • do u use a PC or a MAC?

  • SORRY!! it answered it JUST after i typed that question...

u rock! and the studio is awesome!

  • That is some really expensive gear you got there! You make me feel really poor with my Guitar rig 3 and my DMX6fire 24/96 sound card haha :D. Goodluck recording and keep up those awesome In Flames-covers up!

  • Ahaha, that was the first time I have ever heard your voice. I really enjoy the German language and accent on English. Pretty sweet setup for now. Keep on rockin' man. Love your covers.

  • I have more videos where I talk.

You should listen to the early ones.

    Much more accent.

I am way better now because talking to my canadian girlfriend.

  • Sennheiser e 604 on toms. Best tom mics!

  • How much would you charge for a one week recording session?

  • 200 euro a day without taxes.

  • about $270.00

  • lefty? cool

do you record electrics in the vocal room or the control room?

    great vid thanks

  • on the drums I am a lefty yes.

Do you mean electric guitars ?

That depends on the guitar player.

If he needs the loud sound of his amp in the recording room.

If not, in the control room with me.

  • ya,

so if you mic a amp you go in the recording room

but if you go direct you record in the control room.

    think I got it.

dose your mixer connect to your computer through firewire, usb, or some other way?

    thanks, love the vids

  • No, I always record with mic. Only one time the musician sits in the recording room and the other time with me in the control room.

my mixer is connected via adat cables to the special soundcard in my computer.

  • Nice studio, but don't like the drum sound very mush.. maybe u haven't add some reverb on the snare etc..?

    Very good equipment!!

  • very nice studio

    you did your research

    i like

  • thanks for the studio overview. i'm a hobbyist and i own a boss br-600 recorder. it's nice to have an idea of what a real studio looks like

  • 6:35 "da BIG one!"

    haha! thts great

  • Comment removed

  • I don't understand a damn thing xD

I've never, like EVER jused any "great" recording studio gear, like you guyes have.. Just one question: Where do you get the money from? ^^

I guess that's very, VERY hard just to get a place to have a your own studio^^ How did you guyes do all of this^^ and btw, 06:35 "Dooohh" xDhaha funny^^

    See yah^^

  • why did you say guys o_O ther's just one guy schehf

    what ever

    BTW like your studio ^^

  • ok sorry for my comment i hadn't heard well >___>

  • listen in the start of the movie; 00:22 "Finaly WE made it" ;)

And it's "Claymens" studio right, and it's not only schehf who are in that band right ;)

    That's why I said " you guys" ;)

  • It is not claymens studio. A friends and I planed this studio. That is why I said "WE"

  • aaa ^^

    I see^^

    A litle missunderstanding there^^

  • Hi! How is it going with your studio? Have you been recording much? :)

  • Wow, that's a really expensive studio! I wish I could afford half of those mics. Great choices, but personally I would have used a D6/Beta 52 for a kick.

  • hey dude your kick mic is a akg d12 not a d11 they don't make a d11 + you got it in there wrong

  • No, I say it is AKG D 112.

  • what are you talking about?

    you clearly said @ 9:33 AKG D 11

and plus you have it in there wrong it should be in the middle of the kick drum you have it strait in there it should be right in front of the kicker

  • Sorry, you are right. But I meant the AKG D 112.

And I wanna record the punch with this mic, not the attack, that is why it is not in the middle of the kickdrum.

And even then. Positioning a mic is not a rule, you put it where it sounds best.

  • thats cool on my kick drum mix i hit the gates hard and and a little 10K on the EQ i also use a AKG D12

  • all the wires and cables alone probably cost $5,000. This guys' rich.

  • gracias hombre por el dato, esta muy padre tu estudio, me gusta mucho-.

  • its great man.. keep posting tutorial videos.. BIGhelp for us.

You have spent a fortune on the pre amps haa?? Avlon and Focusrite.. I cant afford them yet... lol.. and the Nuemann mic... KEEP ROCKING BRO!!!

  • intro is My Sweet Shadow by In Flames acoustic . and slower than the original of course

    nice studio !

    peace

  • Mhh very nice

    wehre are you from ?

    Really cool studio

  • Germany

  • Cool ich auch

ist das ein öffentliches studio ?

  • Natürlich ist das öffentlich.

    Da kann jeder rein.

  • In welcher Stadt befindet sich das Studio. Ich hab auch das D8B.

  • Vilshofen bei Passau, Niederbayern.

  • It's fucking crazy man !

    Keep rocking !

    In Flames We Trust !

  • You didnt buy your Epiphone Les Paul Special yet at the time?

  • Congrats!! your studio is sick

  • looks like a great studio, a bit small, nice and comfortabale and great equipment.

is it yours, or is it belong to someone else who's hiring your services?

anyways, cool studio my bro. :)

  • Do you use mics to record your electric guitars or do you still use your line 6 tone port?

  • Depends on the sound I wanted, but normally real amp with mics.

  • Very interesting to see the insides of a recording studio, thanks for the look!

  • Sorry :P Did you pay for the studio ?

  • Nope. I only work there.

  • Who did pay for the studio ?

  • Sorry, don't understand the question.

  • is it usual to preamp your vocal mic? I am trying to setup my own studio, I got everything mics and mixer and so on but do I need a preamp? And for guitar?

  • Preamping is not usual for mics.

    It is necessary !!!

Your mixer preamps your mic as well.

We just use very good outboard equipment to do that.

They can deliver a way better sound.

and when it gets to gain up a lot, they are necessary !

  • so if you have a mixer connected and the quality doesn't need to be very good you have all the stuff you need? Thanks!

  • Yep !

  • Is that a real recording studio or a section of your house that you turned into a studio

  • What is the difference?

It is a part of the house.

    but still a recording studio.

  • dude, seriously, what the hell is that song in the beginning?!?!

not to be gay, it's sounds...beautiful. lol

  • That's the Acoustic version of My Sweet Shadow

  • great video, as always schehf!! i have a question: what guitar do you have hanging on the wall? it;s visible at the start of the video.

great studio man, you deserve it!!

    cheers!!

  • quite a help.check out gypwin

  • awesome!

  • Congratulations !! on you new studio 16note.. u deserve it man.. u must be very happy and proud of it.. it has been quite a long time u were keeping that mackie mixer in your bedroom! but now it has finally got its rightful place in the studio.. best of luck man.. a recording genius like u make the right use of all the equipements u got there..

  • i couldnt have said it better myself. best of luck to you Schehf!

  • U ARE A LEFTY DRUMMER, LIKE ME! YAY

and th my sweet shadow cover with acoustic guitar is very great!

  • Awesome setup Schehf. Keep us updated! :)

  • Wonderful place, wish I could have one like that in basement. ^^

I have a question - you were studying sound engeeneering on University? Do you have some perspectives for the future, looking forward for a good job? I'm asking, cause I'm planning to begin such studies next year, but I'm still hesitating.

I'd thankful for any piece of advice.

    Rock on! ^^

  • vielen vielen dank dass du das alles machst mit den tutorial videos das muss ein haufen arbeit sein^^ ich kann den teil über gitarren-amp recording kaum erwarten
