  • Hello, i really hope you answer. I have joined forensics this year and we have to choose what to do. I am not sure wether i should choose dramatic interp. humorous interp. duo interp , original oritory expository or extemporaneous. Like since i am just a novice we are only working on IE's so these are my choices. And this is very good, although it seems more humorous then dramatic....

  • This performance is simply amazing. I'm sure you don't remember but I'm honored to have you help me and watch me on my speech performance. I wished you could have coached me on my DI instead of my other event now. But thank you.

  • @musiclyf3 keep up the hard work! =D

  • Haha, that's a good DI. I hate DI though.

  • where can i find this piece?

  • @jrodabio amazon.com or google? i dunno

  • @jrodabio the book is mentioned Daniel McIvor

  • you inspire me adiranzaw. i watch your di every day. i think i almost have memorized by now. it never gets old. if you could send me a cut version of your piece id love that. i jsut cant understand everything you say in the video cause of the sound problems.

  • There's something about dramatic interpretation that's very beautiful.

  • I had to watch this three times to pick up on every little detail... all of the little actions and expressions, and all of the words... that's really something in a performance.

And the piece itself is also wonderful! What is it called?

  • a very good performance, but I can't understand at all what it's about...

  • can't really hear but can this piece be done by a girl?

  • yes this piece can be done by a girl its not gender specific.

  • thanks i was montana state champ last year so for my senior year i need a killer piece. we have different rules tho we have to have our binder and we cant move our feet. kinda sucks :(

  • @quegan2010 absolutely.

  • what is this called?

could you send me the script

    i have to cut a piece :/

  • he said in the description that it's from Macivor's "Wild Abandon"--make sure you're allowed to do plays tho. good luck!

  • thats cheating, if someone sends u a cut peice and u just copy his performance then you will be disqualified

  • That is not exactly the case. The national champion for HI last year (alex wozencraft) took his piece (charlie the caterpillar) and directly copied all the blocking and the exact cut someone else used 6 years before him. That guy was 1 position away from qualifying for nationals and then when alex wozencarft took the piece he got first and didn't get in trouble or anything.......

  • amazing di! i do duo but i wish i could act that well.

  • tht was so good...so moving...so sad..excellent

  • So is this piece Wild Abandon then?

  • hum. we're not allowed to do that much moving around in our interps. we can't jump or turn but we can pivot. but good job. it would be better with better audio i'm sure though. but nice all the same

  • Wow, great job. It's an inspiring piece, and you did an amazing execution of it. Did you continue forensics in college?

  • OMG im doing this same bit i wish u could help me damn good job

  • thanks byrdsfly1... yeah its been like almost 7-8 years since i did it in the schools. haha wow can't believe its been that long.. time flies!

  • What's the title of this? And what state? Magnificent performance, very inspiring. Wondering, cuz I'm doing an H.I. for the first time, what do you do when you have a great script, but no author? Should I find another script? I got this one from my Drama Coach.

  • it depends on the league rules. i'm kinda out of touch, but its probably best to have an author.

  • Found the author, eventully, thank God. Thanks anyway, though!

  • How old were you when you did this?

  • thanks jgar6 for the comment. this was a presentation for my high school in 2006. when i won state i was 16. when i was doing this piece for the school again i believe i was 22.

  • That was phenomenal!

  • Great performance and good blocking,

Do you have any suggestions for good DI pieces for a male? Just wondering based on your experience.

  • hey jockey701 thanks for the comment. a good piece could be anything that has a decent structure. its all in the interpretation. as for specific pieces? there's just too many literary pieces to do. find something you'll have tons of fun with regardless of how crazy you think it might be. but keep it structured so people won't get lost and you'll do fine.

  • Inspiring performance...

  • hey kablooie267! thank you very much for checking out the video. =D

  • that was amazing! in fact, i checked this out because my team's chairs for DI told me that thsi was the most brilliant piece that they've ever seen

  • Hey Battledead1! Thanks for the comment. I really appreciate you guys checking out the video. This is definitely one of my proudest performances. =)

  • to battledead1: hey jeffff.... its lijia.

to video/adrian: the coaches were RAVING about your piece at our DI meet today. and i can see why. it is just AWE INSPIRING. you did a practically godly job on this piece. my mouth is hanging open right now. like this... :O. the cat scene and the hanging really sticks with me, along with just about all the other scenes...

sigh... i feel inadequate. but oh well... im still novice. plenty of room to improve.

  • did u final at NFLs? ur amazing !

  • hey captaincrunch221 thanks for the comment. yeah made it to state finals. nationals was a whole different ball game. lol

  • Wonderful job.I'm helping out a new coach get together some examples to show to her new team and this was perfect for DI.

Thanks so much for posting this.

    ~ace

  • ha, this is really great. We just started a debate team at my middle school, and our teacher told us to go and watch, read, listen and learn. It's very intruiging, and I love the attitude of the preformance. - Lydia (don't be confused, I am a girl)

  • thanks Lydia for checking out the video... man i wish i had speech and debate when i was in middle school.. =)

    keep up the good work!

  • Phenomonal. Gets me every time I watch it, I've never seen a piece so perfectly executed.

  • hey sargentepepper, thank you very much once again for checking out the video. =)

  • no prob, thanks again for the advice on pieces, my search is coming along much better and my fist meet is friday! wahoo!

  • omg this is wat i was doing for my DI ur awsome wat was the line u say at the begining

  • thanks! byrdsfly1. the first line i say is "Doesn't every kid want a black room? Black Walls, black curtains, black ceiling, black curtains on the window."

  • I liked it! this year I'm doing OPP and Policy, mut next year, or semester, I'll be doing LD, and eather Duo with a friens od HI for Logan High. but this piece was amazing. ^-^

  • Thanks Ashiya223 for checking out the video. wow OPP that's awesome. and good luck for this year.

  • this was soooo gooooooood!!

    i lovvvvvvvvved it!

and, i saw someone already asked,

and i know you said it was in the description.. but i still can't catch it,

and was wondering what you piece was called?

  • hey kait779 thank you very much for the comment. i believe the piece is called "Wild Abandon"

  • OMG the best DI eveer

  • thank you very much for checking out the video "princess2diamond"

  • Wow that was really good. Im taking debate this year, and i wanna do dramatic and humerous interps. Idk which one is better but this was really good and looked like you had a lot of fun...

  • thanks "mymomthinksimfat" humor is probably a lot more fun to watch in rounds. lol

  • Wow, that was awesome! What is the title of the piece you performed?

  • hey zillion08 its in the description of the piece. good luck with everything and thanks for checking out the video!

  • This is Great. I'm taking a debate class at my school this year, and I've got a competition coming up in a couple of weeks. This should help me get some idea of what i'm supposed to do.

  • Hey JScottCollins! Thanks for watching the video and commenting. It must be pretty exciting to prep for a competition in a few weeks. Best of luck to you and dont' forget to have fun!

  • Wow. Probably the best I've seen. I took a debate class last year and only got to do this once, but seriously, great stuff.

  • Hey BoredBored17 Thanks for checking out my video. I really appreciate it. Yeah I'm not much of a debator although i did policy/team debate for a while. but hey its all fun. =)

  • wooow, fantastic job. I'm in my first year of drama, but for the past two years, I bounced around categories. I originally started out in extemp as my brother did and he did pretty well, but I discovered I absolutely hated politics. Then I went to OO and I enjoyed it, but got pretty bored because there's never really any humor or emotion with it. I wanted to do duo, but my partner dropped out so now I'm heading for drama <.<

  • Thanks for the comment morrocc! Yeah what I learned is that OO above all others is probably one of the most useful speech events you can utilize in life.

Being charismatic, intuitive, persuasive, and passionate when speaking is sooo useful. As for Drama... well that's just too much fun. lol best wishes on your speech career!

  • XD Well, obviously, you got a whole lot better at it! I think I really got lucky my freshman year, because the piece I had was about a young girl from Iraq, and I'm from India myself, so I kinda fit the part. Plus, even if I didn't know, I looked like I knew what the accent was supposed to be, lol! I think one of my favorite parts of speech was meeting people from different schools and different grades that I wouldn't have met otherwise. What was your favorite part?

  • My favorite part of speech.. There are many countless things. Because speech has seriously made me who i am today, regarding the career aspects as a tv host and actor and producer etc.

My top favorite part about speech is the journey and adventure you go on. i would have never gotten to travel out of state and experienced all that if i wasn't in speech. Whenever I go back to see the students its always inspiring to be reminded of where it all came from ya know? =)

  • Well, it must be a lot of work replying to all these comments, so I definitely commend you for taking the time to do it! =] I just finished my first year in speech, Drama as my category, and I believe I did pretty well. ^_^ I made varsity as the only freshmen, which was... absolutely fantastic. =D I was ecstatic. But watching your talent, I know that there's a lot more I'll learn - but I think I'll have a lot of fun as well. xD After all, you gotta have fun to enjoy it... right?

  • You're absolutely right. CONGRATS on making it as varsity as a freshmen. I just wish I knew about speech when i was a freshmen. lol, i remember wondering if there was a whole controversy behind winning awards. aka, i sucked my freshmen year the highest ranking i ever got in the year was a 3 in one round of duo hahaha.

  • where did you find your d.i's ive been looking at some by brooklyn publishers but i just cant find one i like

  • I think though in the end its what you make of it. Try not to take the script for face value and that might help. =)

  • this is true... thanx for the help.... ur di is bomb ass by the way!!!

  • Thanks Rachel, good luck with your piece search and tournaments! Keep it up! =D

  • You're really good =].

I wanna be in D.I. this year, my coach might put me in broadcasting o.O.

I need a good script. What's a girl to do. XP.

But I really enjoyed the performance.

  • Aside from DI O.O. was my second favorite event. I think its also the most generically practical in this world in all fields of employment and empowerment. What is a girl to do? I have no idea. If I could tell girls what they should do, I wouldn't be on youtube replying. hahaha.. j/k

Find something that you think is wildly entertaining and enjoy doing. People will respond to it, and it'll be fun for you.

  • wow your goood!

  • Thank you very much Johnny!

  • This has already happend were i live.. someone copied it to the T and almost got to state with it..

  • Wouldn't that be pretty flattering? lol. I dunno its been 7 years since the State Competition so I figure its all fair game as long as people are keeping the tradition of Speech Activities alive. =D

  • and btw, do you ever think that someone might copy your work because they have everything here at the push of a button? Does that even matter?

  • My objective here is to share my work with everyone out there. I don't care if people copy it. That's the whole point of sharing. I strongly believe in forensics as being an amazing youth program.

As for posting it on youtube. Its just a showcasing forum. I don't suggest that I'm better than anybody else, just wanted to share the joys of performing throughout the viral world. And have helped those who were interested in forensics with answering questions.

  • wow, it's been a while... haha.

Fair enough. I think that it's an amazing program as well (I'm even coaching now) and highly recommend it to anyone looking to do an extracurricular activity. Nonetheless, I think that copying is awful in forensics. It's shortcutting the process. Not only that, but I think that it hinders the performer too because they haven't thought as in-depthly about the cutting/characters as the original. If you don't care, it's fine. I just wanted to make sure you knew...

  • It didn't post my last post! lame! Let's see if I can remember:

... just in case someone did try so you wouldn't be mad (judging from another comment though, someone already did). I also think it's great you're answer questions. To talk more about forensics, go to forensicsunderground . com. Did you ever go to forensicsonline before it shut down adrian? It seems like it'd be right up your alley (forensics message boards).

  • and sorry I called stuff garbage on here. I must have been in a bad mood. lol. Thank for you being clean and polished with a not overly dramatic piece I guess is what I was trying to say. :P

  • hey Orimgc4ever! there you are, yeah i'm spending this evening trying to reply to everything. lol... i appreciate your comments and feedback but yeah i wasn't aware of the site until now. as for copying you're absolutely right, it would be a dis-service to the kids, but hopefully it'll get them started in a direction towards being more interested. hopefully they can venture on their own direction =)

  • if no posted their things youtube would never be a functioning site. There would not be one music video or cover on here. It doesnt make you cocky to post something of yourself. Thats a lame thought

  • As a fellow competitor, even if you are very good, i think it's kinda pretentious to go and post how glorious you are on YouTube. While I do like the fact that something good is finally up comparatively to the *excuse me* garbage that some people put up, I have to say I think that you've got a little big of a head. I have myself on video, yet I've never put it up. Point is, yes, you are good, but i think humility is a attribute that too few people practice in forensics. Try it sometime.

  • wats ur problem man.. it's really heplful, u know especially for students who would like to see how OI works.. duh? ur sick man, and probably, ur just envious of him, coz he's better than u..hmp

  • hey Zoennefey! thank you very much for the comment. i'm glad you understand my situation of posting. sorry it took a while to reply to your comment. thanks again!

  • hey orimgc4ever, i appreciate your feedback and opinion. thanks for posting. sorry it took a while to reply. yeah you're right humility is important. my intention of posting this wasn't to make people feel bad about themselves and me better. I just enjoyed speech and wanted to share it with everyone. I by no means want say its better than anyone. i hope others post their speeches up too, cause i do love watching them especially OOs.

  • never mind oops

  • whats the name of this piece?

  • whats the name?

  • can u send me this script???

  • Wish I still had it.

  • I am 13 and I do Speech and Debate tournament Mini tournaments etc. I love how you did that performance! I am going to be trying to qualify for regional's this Monday! I am going to be doing a Duo Interp with one of my three siblings my sister to be exact. I love to see what other speakers can do so thanks for posting your video. =)

  • Hey Doggielove1220, sorry it took so long to reply to this video but how are you doing in speech?

  • Hi,

I haven't been on youtube for like a month sorry! I'm doing great, this year I am competing in OO, DI, and Duo! And of course Debate! But to answer your question, I have gotten really busy (mostly with speech) because I feel very strongly about what I am speaking on in my OO. And since it's a new debate year, I've had a ton of research. But I've been doing really good in speech! Drop me an email sometime here on youtube! :)

  • Sick job -- from someone who started doing speech in 4th grade and continued throughout high school (went to Nationals all 4 years and won my state tournament in Duo), and college (went to Nationals all 4 years), blah, blah, blah . . . your performance reminds me why I spent all those weekends traveling to all those tournaments.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane . . . I hope your talent takes you as far as you deserve to go.

  • hey cboonswang, hahaa wow seems like you got a list to shine. thanks for commenting on this youtube video. i appreciate it. yeah a trip down memory line indeed.

  • B:it wasnt to good

    =]

    I:good character

  • hey Inordhaus. thanks for commenting i appreciate your feedback.

  • That was an amazing performance! Wonderful to have witnessed it.

  • Hey DeadlyAttraction113 thank you very much for your comment. how has your year beein for speech? thanks for commenting btw. =D

  • this guy is really good in di. tommorow is my league competition fall varsity. he helped me block my di :)

  • hey sameeoh! i know its like been 8 months but how did your year go?

  • Yo, you're the shit.

  • 871263... lol thank you very much for your comment! =D

  • hes good...nice technique...he seems really in character...good piece...mad props to this man.

  • hey eastside900. thank you very much for the comment and checking out the piece. its been a while but never too late to reply. =D

  • I was in speech and debate in HS too. LOL. Good stuff.

  • This was amazing. Thank you for finally getting some good forensics videos on youtube.

  • hey spiltter402 thanks for commenting. man i think there's a bunch of new forensics videos online now but how are you doing in speech?

  • Haha woow..this was a long time ago. Um.. I guess I am doing pretty well, I graduated, went to the TOC (extemp, mainly what I did) and am going to WKU on scholarships so... Yeah, Pretty well heh.

  • Congrats on the Scholarships! WKU? Hope all is well! Keep in touch if we ever cross paths, facebook or what not. Extemp.. nice..

  • Who, the ending was very, well in my district some of the "Parent" Judges would have declared that a bit graphic, but I thought it was astounding!

Yay for the odd cuts aside from sappy monologues.

amazing Job, hopefully you made it to Nationals.

  • Thank you very much Sammykinsownzyou! yeah i was able to make it to Nationals with this piece in 2002? or 2001 but thats where the story ends lol. i'm trying to bring the character's dynamic range back in a new online drama series called 'The Resistance Series' its on my profile. =D

  • i saw that!!!!

  • hey ninoisagod! you saw it? awesome!! where?

  • I was a freshman when he won DI! I'm from James Logan, so it was him up there with like 3 or 4 of our guys and I remember being like "wow--this dude must've cleaned UP" and everyone telling me that it was a great round.

    Great to see the performance!

  • hey ndo204 wow its been a while, but yes thank you very much. that james logan round was one of my most unforgettable moments in life lol.. how is everything going for you now a days?

  • Hey Guys!! Thanks for all your kind words, blunt opinions and comments!! Irons66wh thats awesome that you directed an off Broadway of Macivor, but this wasn't an off broadway on broadway anyway play. Its an interpertation of Macivor's work. hahaha.. Keep subscribing to my profile, I promise you bigger better projects, movies and tv shows. =)

  • As someone who has directed MacIvor off-Broadway...I must say you don't really understand the text. You are far too slow...not to mention over-acted. Your accent is very off-putting

  • As someone who has studied theatre my whole life, in particular, MacIvor as we have the same hometown, I'm entirely sure the idea is to interpret the text as you see fit and entertain - if you can bring any sort of emotion out of your audience or drive them into themselves - you are doing your job.

  • In any case, fantastic work. My problem with seeing MacIvor live is how quickly he runs through what he's saying - it takes away from the text when you lose some of the dialogue. I'm entirely impressed.

  • aw but the teaser has to be there for the ending...

  • hey abnerb you're absolutely right. thanks for commenting. i really appreciate it.

  • adrian, watching you perform this at the showcase way back in 2001 was what inspired me to joined speech and do DI. thank you for that. :)

  • hey interiordecor, how are you doing in speech? i know its been a year. i hope your journey has been good.

  • Sorry Guys theres a 10 minute limit on the Video, so I had to cut out the Intro. Basically, it just says "blah blah blah... bla blah blah in "Wild Abandon" by Daniel Macivor" =)

  • Adrian Zaw is my DI idol. (:

    Amazing...

  • hey sherbertnesss! thank you so much you rocked my day!

  • wheres his intro?

  • i would be over timed if i included the intro unfortunately. over time of 10 minutes.. hahaha youtube has the same time restrictions as forensics.

  • what is there to say about that..if anything..I say whale sex

  • hey twicetrice, thanks for watching, yes whale sex is a great description of this piece. i love it!

  • the ending is crazy!

  • hey cacabeans sorry for the late reply but thank you so much for watching. =)

  • when i first saw that picture on derek's wall i thought you were like mexican but now that i seen more pictures you look ASIAN.

  • hey bananaphillip, yes i love the latinas, and yes i do look more asian now. lol
