She published her book on her own cost in Paris, 1970 in Polish language only.

Title: "Sztafeta oszczerców". It is not available now at all, apart from the principal liabrary in NYC.

This song is more exqusite every time you hear it! Why wasn't Wiera Gran immediately shipped to Hollywood like Greta Garbo? Too close to the war, too much of a Polish accent for the talkies? So much beauty, talent, glamour, divinity gone down the drain just because of the War and the commies!!! Thank goodness Jurek is there to show us a bit of the magic that could have been!

Incredible, Jurek! This is a girl of 20, not 40?? Not even Zarah Leander could manage that!! My sister-in-law is from Gdansk, but she thinks Pola Negri means nothing to Poles of today, and hardly anybody knows of Tamara de Lempicka, and blah blah blah shit. I myself have some idea of the richness of Polish culture, in art, and songs (thanks to Jurek), all of it before the communists took over and changed the Poles to today's sad consumers. Thank God you are promoting Polish culture, Jurek!

Do you know if Stanislaw Ferszko was the same Shmuel Fershko who entertained Yiddish speaking audiences with his wife Sara after the war in the states?

I am not sure. This Ferszko was a musician in a wider sens of this term. After he had died, his wife (Lola Ferszko !) made a Foundation devoted to his musical legacy.

Pessimistic not at all, the lyrics tell the story of a strong, brave person. Yet stylistically I'm captivated by the intimistic character of the song expressing the subdued mood of the protagonist.

And that character of intimacy is expressed here by the girl(!) who at that moment did not reach the age of... 21 !

I am amazed with the deep sensual maturity of this artist being just at the start of her career. This

must have been 'granted'.
