Albanians have many dialects from north to south from east to west, and that is what makes our language richer and our folklore as well. Yes almost 100 years ago we decided to have a common proper Albanian, to be spoken and written in schools, so people would not have a problem in business or otherwise. This same dialects are being spoken by these Arvanites all the way down to Athens and maybe farther.

Quand je lis la littérature étrangère, les arvanites sont souvent considéré comme les héros de l' indépendance de la Grèce. Nous nous sommes toujours senti plus proche des grecs que des albanais. En tout cas ,c'est ce que j'en déduis des livres francais , anglais et allemand. Mais je sais aussi que certains auteurs étrangers nous considérent comme albanais. En même temps je ne pense pas que les francais, allemands ou autres sachent mieux que nous ce que nous nous sommes!

Oui , je suis d'origine arvanite et fière de l'être.
Je me considère grec et pas albanais!(meme si la langue arvanite a des liens très fort avec l'albanais) Et mes parents aussi!! Et tous les arvanites du village à mes grands parents parlent maintenant que grec et se considérent grecs.

Albanians have many dialects from north to south from east to west, and that is what makes our language richer and our folklore as well. Yes almost 100 years ago we decided to have a common proper Albanian, to be spoken and written in schools, so people would not have a problem in business or otherwise. This same dialects are being spoken by these Arvanites all the way down to Athens and maybe farther.
