  • the christmas lights are ultimately what make this video creepy. they're not exactly synonymous with tornado sirens.

  • @TigerCardinal0812 LOL very true.. it was very eerie sounding when they went off in the middle of December. The usually they go off around here in the springtime but then again tornadoes can happen any time especially around here.

  • @mbstone99 i made a video of sirens going off in my hometown this past May, and they're nowhere near as creepy as this. that could be because we don't usually see many real tornadoes, and the ones we do see usually aren't very strong.

  • @TigerCardinal0812 It was odd that it was so late in the year and they went off but I guess anything is possible. The whole Christmas lights with the sirens going off gives it a totally creepy feel. We get some tornadoes around this part of Texas but most of them are small ones, well at least of what I have seen so far since moving here 5 years ago.

  • These Whelens sound great in attack mode.

  • I slept right thru this as well, thank god!

  • Sounds like a dog howling XD

  • @pronintendogamer96 LOL you know now that you pointed that out it kind of does!

  • Unfortunately, winter severe weather isn't all that uncommon here in D/FW...........although we haven't had a Tuscaloosa-type incident yet, thank god{referring to highly damaging F4/EF5 tornado that oblitered chunks of Tuscaloosa Co.. AL on Dec. 16, 2000}.

  • I slept threw that man

  • @nutty1999 I have no idea how you can.. that would wake the hell outta me then scare the shit outta me at the same time.

  • the sirens aren't so bad in the day time. But man at night yea it scares the hell out of me. that and i have one at the corner of my house...lol

  • @1291ffemt I am the same way.. during the day time it's not bad at all but at night it's a totally different story. Last summer we moved out of that apartment and to the other side of town. We haven't heard the sirens since moving so I am not sure exactly where they are located but hopefully not too close. LOL.

  • Very nice.

  • @Lukelr Thank you

  • i love the sound of sierns...at the same time they scare me.

  • They scare the crap outta me as well!

  • same!! they sound awesome but if i was there i wud b so scaredd!

  • I remember this! I woke up and i was like; are you kidding me?

  • This the fire station on Hillcrest?

  • I think these are either the one down somewhere on Parker between the Tollway and The Colony city limits or Spring Creek between the Tollway and the Colony city limits or both.

  • love those Whelens.

  • whelens sound epic in wail

  • that is what fort worths system sounds like 132 whelen vortex r 3s in harmony and even where i live in fort worth it sounds really audible

  • I live off of Coit and Parker and we have the one by Haggard MS and the one by Parker and the one by tulane.

  • i live off parker and independence, and there are sirens seems like all around me. when they go off, they scare the crap out of me. ever since april of last year, when those few tornados came through. off the tollway, and parker and custer, are the few i know of off top of my head.

  • I live off of Parker and Rainier, we have a siren not even a mile away from us at the park...it's a Whelen.

  • All of Planos Sirens are Whelen.

  • Comment removed

  • shit if i were u i would of jsut went to dallas n wait for it to pass by i always do that , but idk why the sirens sound bad ass to me for some reason

  • this was not one...it was a funnel cloud and maybe a unconfirmed 10 second touchdown in allen...but NWS never ruled it as one

  • AH HA, yes, I remember that, scared the shit out of some of my friends, one had the tornado touch down a street down from him... Whats ironic about this is that about 12 hours later is was below/at freezing temperature... Proves the statement "If you don't like the weather in Texas, wait a few minutes" true.

  • I acutally got hit by one tornado

  • Those tornado sirens must be Whelens.

  • I think you are right. I checked the Plano city web page but there was no mention of what type of sirens they use but from the looks of it they are Whelens.

  • They sound eerie in fast wail (if that is fast wali)

    Hopefully nobody was hurt.

  • No its too slow for fast wail. Its called "Wail Tone" that they are running in in the video.

  • And what I think you are hearing also are 2 different sirens as well. There is one about 1/4 of a mile due south of me and one 1/4 mile due north of me so there is somewhat of an echo of both of them going off at the same time.

  • Your also probably hearing the ones in Allen and maybe a few from McKinney and Frisco

  • If you go on the city's web page, for some reason this won't post if I put the link in here, there is a map of all the locations of the warning sirens. I am located in between #20 & #11 in West Plano.

  • #20 is a Whelen WPS-4008 and #11 is a Whelen WPS-2810. Seems like you're closer to #11 than #20.

  • Wow thanks for the info!

  • No problem! I have some literature on both if you're interested lol

  • Sure I would be interested in that. It would be cool to look over.

  • nothing even happend in allen haha

  • I remember this. I put my wife and son in the bathtub. lol. Hey, better safe than sorry in a two story house right?

  • I was really scared when this went off too and still scared hours later. My wife was just going to bed when it started going off. I thought we should do something but she didn't think we needed to. Usually she is the one that worries all the time and I am say don't worry about it. Hehe.

  • I Live in Plano too and it scared me and my dog because my grandma lives right next to a siren so it scared the hell out of me

  • lol.

I remember this... the VERY second I was about to sleep agfter finishing a rather tiring project for school, the sirens went off. And I was, like, "Okay...either REALLY severe weather like that one time, or there really IS a tornado..."

.... AAANNND my band friends were at All-Region and had to stay longer in Allen cuz the tornado was, like, right there. XD

  • I am glad I don't live right by one of those as that would creep me out even more. I live maybe 1/4 mile or so away from two of them, one directly north of here on Spring Creek and one directly south of here on Parker.

  • turn the x-mas lights off during storm is a good idea because lightning won't hurt it

  • Those are not our Christmas lights they are actually our neighbor's apartment across the way from us.

  • i know with the window

  • yea it happened in grayson and collin county. suprising that a tornado warning didnt hit us (cooke county)

  • That is odd that Cooke Co didn't get a warning considering how ya'll are right next to Grayson Co, maybe this storm tracked from the SW to NE and missed Cooke.

  • no it hit us but there was no warning

  • you got a good video of the sirens. My video came out lame, I think because I took it from my phone. We didn't have any damage in our area off of spring creek. The lighting was terrible though..our power went our for a bit. What area do you live in?

  • There wasn't any damage around here either. I did hear on the Channel 4 news in the morning that there was a bunch of damages up in Denison but nothing in Collin County. I am around the area of Windhaven & the Tollway.

  • yeah...my area of spring creek got nothing, too. weird... :/

  • I'm glad to hear that. Thanks for the video!!

  • I live in Plano but am out of town, do you know if there was any damage in Plano?

  • There wasn't any damage fortunately in Plano but up in Denison in Grayson County about an hour north there was a small tornado that destroyed a couple of houses.
