  • I always call Joan "my friend", my musician son gets a 'kick' out of that, but I realize she and her words have been with me also for more than 40 years... Love her so much. This song I think of for each of the 'young ones' in my life... she sings out what I feel.

  • Cal, I absolutely the best cover of this song. Thanks for sharing it with us. Peace, all. Love each other.

  • Makes my eyes well up. Makes me long for a time when life was so much simpler... before I got to be a 'grown up.'

  • I´m just discovering Joan and I´m so so happy for that!!! What amazing singer. Thank you so much!

    And HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DEAR JOAN!

Please, somebody knows where I can find the texts of her songs?

    Thanks. Lucie

  • @MrSweatyPants you are vomit

  • @RatherLargeAllan Neither of them is a shit or a saint and we can't make them that by writing it in a public forum. He didn't need to "piggyback" anyone to...develop his own rep.

    He's freekin Bob Dylan!

  • @mercado123456 Thanks for the nice compliment I'm sure "some caucasians" will be happy to hear it.

  • I had some friends of mine sing this for my daughter's wedding. Beautiful song!

  • My mom just sent me this as a blessing for my birthday. <3

  • I love her! (contented sigh)

  • What a most beautiful ,inspiring song.

  • Bless you Joan, you are an angel sent from heaven.

  • The voice, it is what it is, simple as that.

  • yo también soy Báez XD que loco!

  • I love this song, but watching this time it made me weep tor my son who never got to grow up, stay forever young, forever 15 - for all the children who have died. Perhaps it will be a healing song for me. I have always seen Joan as a role model, from my days in high school, to now, with my graying hair. Thank goodness we have her!

  • never forget! a greeting from Bergamo! Italy giulio

  • Is it possible to listen to this song and not tear up? Asking for a friend....

  • I'm seeing Joan tonight at the Beacon Theater in NYC--11-08-2011 with Kris Kristofferson. I saw her just one time before @1989, her RECENTLY tour at TOWN HALL in NYC. I have had a "hellish" few months and definitely need some Joan to help me put things in (positive) perspective.

  • @glennfromthebronx We were there the other night at the Beacon. Joan was terrific and the audience so appreciated her music!

  • @vsibirsky What a great audience and I had never seen Kristofferson before. Their duets on ME AND BOBBY MCGEE and NIGHT THEY DROVE OLD DIXIE DOWN were a nice ending. It is so nice to be able to listen to/appreciate the words coming directly from a singer/songwriter.

  • one of the songs of my courting days. we thought we would be forever young.

  • beautiful words, I sing this to my grandkids, thanks Bob Dylan you're a genius, great version Joan.

  • Thumbs up if you were brought here by the Wonder Years!!!

  • I have been listening to this song for 40 years or more and am as old dirt but when I hear it I am "forever young". Bless the barefoot madonna

  • @deriter64 We don't know each other except for our shared love of this fine lady and her songs. This one is extra special. Thanks for your positive comment - we are always going to be forever young, thanks to the likes of Bob Dylan. Not sure about you but his music has made my life easier to bear up under.

  • @oldgabe4612 Sorry for a tardy response but I was a bit stunned by your heartfelt comment. Long, long ago I lived near the beach and loved life and there is a face in my memory that will truly be "forever young", especially with Joan Baez's help. As far as Dylan goes he is a mystic and I am in his debt for a number of smokey, boozy completely wonderful evenings debating the meaning of Lily Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts. After all these years I still don't know but I love to hear Baez sing it.

  • @Call44 You sayed "in my opinion" and I couldn't miss to add "in mine too".

Thank you for this upload, stay forever young.

  • My mom looks just like Joan. Thank you for posting this video.

  • Dedicated to my twin daughters, Kim and Alison. Time after time.

  • wunderschönes Lied, wunderschön und zauberhaft gesungen von Joan Baez.

  • I hate comparing artists, but I think more people who love Gaga and talk about how great of a person she is to society and making a difference should look at Joan Baez first. Her songs are also more appropriate to her causes than Gaga's.

  • How can you not think of someone that has passed from your life when you hear this song. Joan is an artist for all the ages, a true classic who only gets better and better.

  • Thanks for upload this video and greetings from Germany

  • we all think we can sing and play a wee bit... but this is top gear , along with mary black i think joan has the edge, why... deeper roots

  • I agree that this is the best version of this truly beautiful song. I like Chrissie Hynde's version too. I think it lends itself more easily to a female voice. Peace, everyone. Love each other.

  • Fine song that you sang for Marlene Dietrich!

    Thanks for posting!

    Aloha from Hawaii!

  • She will forever young.

  • Where are all these strong musicians - where have all these beautiful fighting flowers gone...?

  • by golly, she's beautiful.

  • Love you Joan! Beautiful person and beautiful music.

  • The corner of her left shoulder is bigger than mine.

    -ET

  • in a united world no one will die

  • I first heard Joan Baez cover Bob Dylan on her double white album 1969. It is amazing that her voice is still just as beautiful and strong.

Her voice moves me to tears everytime.

Dear Joan, May God Bless and Keep You Always.

  • This song is beautiful!!!!!

  • I have loved this song since I first heard it. Her Come From the Shadows was my favorite album for a very long time. She is truly unique and I find her voice so comforting. Long live Joan Baez!!!

  • This is one person who will NEVER need to sing through an Antares Auto-tune system. God bless the real singers.

  • Happy Birthday, Son!

  • im never gonna die

  • beautiful**********************************

  • grand

  • This is true talent, not to mention passion. Very inspiring.

  • She is great but also check out Audra Mae's version from the Sons of Anarchyll

  • Great voice!!!

  • She is still talented and very feminine

  • I think she's forty years older than me but I definitely would

  • Listening to a song I first heard a half century ago and recalling with almost perfect clarity what I was thinking, who I was holding, what I dreamed of, makes me wonder about, of all things, the recording industry. This is live but most renditions of Forever Young are recorded. How many heartbreaking singers must have preceded Edison, how many little girls with voices like angels stood on a stage in London or New York? Then took their music to the grave because there was no way to record it.

  • @deriter64 OMG - you can't do this to us!

  • Forever Young !!!! Joan :-)

  • there is noise then there is music and finally there what they call harmony...lady gaga 5o cent kanyo west is what I call noiseRay charles, Bon Jovi, Bob, Jone and the like is what I call harmony...wow what a tune what a melody

  • I'd love to meet her, and sing with her!

  • Gorgeous poetry, gorgeous woman my God how could any man ask for more? What ya wanna gorgeous voice too! Sheesh.

She has kind of the flavor of a Royal servant to her quality. No?

Kinda like my big sister, she is.

  • muito boa interpretação.

  • A song Live!

  • beautiful song,, i have a friend who.. believe it or not... sings it better.. this is why i sought this song out to here this version, beautifully sang,,Liz fletcher is the woman

  • This song is special to me and my many friends both here and there wherever that may be..

  • very nice live version!

  • Wish I'd her forever young

  • Magical -- I've always loved her crystal clear voice from Day One. She remains an inspiration to this day.

  • If you can watch Joan Baez sing this song and ...not fall in love with her there is

    something seriously wrong with you.

  • @jonnydupe07 I have loved Joan forever, I purchased and still have many of the originals from the begginning of her career. I am female and was in the military during the 60's came out and went into Law enforcement so have seen the picture qite clearly. I am now retired and thinking of Hitting the road in motorhome to support families who are suffering from this usless war. It breaks my heart to have to deal with an uncaring Gov with their own agenda. I am a diamond in the rough.

  • @1CaTumbleweed Thanks for your nice comment. I to have loved Joan for what seems like forever I first saw her in the 60's when I was in the military. She was singing in DC and I caught her show. Lots of folks are left heartbroken trying to deal with this uncaring gov. and their mysterious agenda. Good luck on your road trip.

  • @jonnydupe07 Wow man...you touched my heart :D

  • At her best.

  • i just love everything about this video

  • yes indeed, excersise that mind...

  • when was this recorded?

  • Parenthood theme song <3333

    Such a great song!

  • When we wake up to the truth of life, inspired music like this will emerge and flourish again, and all the uninspired crap that people call "music" these days will fade away and be forgotten. Search "Truth Contest" in Google and click the 1st result, then open The Present and read what it says to learn the truth of life.

  • linda joan baez!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I love her voice, and this is one of my favorite songs she sings so well. I wish none of us had to grow old, but at least we can always keep our heart and dreams young.

  • Sometimes when clinical depression obliterates all my happy memories, including the bylines, the recognition, the daughter, the beautiful grandchildren I can still get a lift out of listening to Baez. That's something I owe to the Barefoot Madonna I guess

  • EXCELENTE MUY LINDA MUJER!

  • I think that my life is forever young, but it is not

  • her most famous retort i think. not a hecler. she and bob have an afinity. the voice from the crowd decided that joan and bob would make a lovely couple. afore he got the last word out his mouth. joan asked. a couple of what.? i wait for the opperchancity to plagerise your words. you sing like an angel so you must be an angel. thanks

  • does anyone have tabs for this version of forever young? Can't find them anywhere.

  • shivers down the spine time

  • utterly sublime

  • A song for the young in heart .... and the old in bones.....

  • Simply beautiful

  • Hello U.S from England, your rich diversity of music is really inspirational

  • @TheSsmith64 Nice to hear a positive comment from a Brit about us for a change. Thank you sir.

  • Beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!

  • she could do his songs better than anyone, save himself.

  • Joan's voice is so inspiring - so touching. Wish I had a voice like that. Strange isn't it. With her talent and popularity and with a large worlwide following, she never won a Grammy. Hmmm...politics in play?

  • May you stay forever Joan.

  • Hello America from wee Scotland :) your music amazes me !!:)

  • best ever as always

  • whats the story with Baez & Dylan? Ive tried lookin' for it, but cant find it! Will someone pleeease tell me!?! Id really appreciate it, thanks!

    VIva Baez! :D

  • @Elinne27 check out bob dylan's wiki.. there is a picture there with both of them performing on Civil Rights March on Washington DC... both of them are activist so its no wonder that they performed together though.. i;m not sure though if they are romantically involved :D

  • @rasaecnai it's quite obvious you weren't around in the 60's ...

  • @picowgirl i wasn't around in the 60's, 70's even in the 80's. i only remember half of the 90's. but atleast i still care enough about bob dylan's music that i even "wiki"-ed him.

  • @rasaecnai ...i meant you were just young....very very young

  • @Elinne27 @rasaecnai I just saw a documentary about joan, and the story is this: she found him, made him famous and they were involved, but she wanted him to be more into activism than he was. His passion was the music, and hers to change what she felt was wrong. By her own words, she tried to change him/make him into something he wasn't. And paraphrasing Bob: he battled his dawning career and couldn't juggle it all and her. Lovely romantic story <3 Diamonds & rust song ftw!

  • 50 people are rebecca black

  • There are 50 people who aren't young.

  • Maybe it's because I know about Joan's history, but I feel like I'm hearing the love she shared with Bob Dylan.

  • her voice has only gotten better and stronger with every year

  • ??

  • Beautiful song, voice<3

  • and let's not forget how beautiful woman she is as well -- inside and out -- still doing the work. Blessings and Light to you, Joan!

  • Beautiful song, beautiful voice, beautiful sentiment. When I listen to it, I think of my grandchildren, and it brings tears to my eyes.

  • @MissSuzyS

I¨m so agree with you! <3

  • lepa pesma... nice song... love you from serbia......volimo te u srbiji..

  • I had the pleasure of meeting Joan back in Monterey Ca when she did a free concert at the Fairgrounds...she used to live in Carmel, there in Monterey Bay where I grew up...I have always been her fan since I was a teenager. She inspired me to become an activist and care about doing something to help change the world around me. This song is a blessing I gave to each of my children when they were babies...it is a Bob Dylan song, she and Dylan were friends;-)

  • Joan - Forever!

  • This is MUSIC!

  • simply beautiful. This woman can sing!

  • The older I am, the happier I feel as I hear this song, so it would be called Forever Young if I die someday.

  • i love this music

    Marise Anny - Brasil

  • Can any big Joan-fan tell me if she smoked (I'm talking about ordinary cigarettes)?

  • @cocoskanin I think at some point in her life she did smoke "ordinary cigarettes" google

that question and you will get some stories.

  • Θαυμάσια γυναίκα και πάντα νέα.

  • I first hearrd this version in a episode of wonder years when waynes friend joined the army. Very heartbreaking.

  • Heartbreaking and Beautiful

  • Wonderful woman..........strong and determined...!

  • perfect version. just like she's talkin to you, but with voice like a violin and flute.

  • She has both remained forever young and has matured. We should all be able to do that.

  • lovely and tender. her voice is that of an angel.God bless joan baez for all

the joy she has given to so many thru the years.:)

  • Crimen Sollicitationis

  • Welch eine großartige Frau.

Ich habe das Glück gehabt sie Live zu sehen-es war ein unglaubliches Erlebnis.

  • nice song

  • if you want to be forever young read jack lalanne's great book ' LIve Forever'

  • What a beautiful and unique voice. It reminds me my childhood.

  • Thank you Joan for everything <3

    Saskia

  • It ain't gonna sound popular among die hard fans of Joan Baez and I don't want to sound disrespectful, but in my opinion her songs got older together with the singer. For my money they're only period pieces, and not evergreens. But it's just my view.

  • @pawsoned Really? How many years old is this song? Period piece and not evergreen

what are we discussing right here and now? all these years later. This song seems to have

survived the test of time pretty well, for a period piece (for my money) Lets see where the

GaGa, J Lo, pieces end up 30 or 40 years from now. And this is NOT just my view.

    Reguards

  • Throughout all of the years she maintains her voice and beliefs. She should inspire us all.

  • This is truly a love song to the world.

I especially hope to pass on this beautiful song to my daughter Brenda Marie Battist a Adkins, Joe and my grandone's Tony, Cassie, Jimmy, Andrew.

To God for the gift of music, to hear it and feel it. To sing it in tune and to bless the world with your incredible gifts everyday in everyway.

  • Joan young forever heart !

  • They broke the mold when they created Joan Baez. How many singers have the talent, intelligence, depth, and passion this woman has? She remains both forever young and mature.

  • in about 1995 she had asked to come see the gardens where I work (her ex-cook was then working for my boss)...My flaky boss forgot she was coming...and I got to spend time with Joan Baez...she sang the entire time...not even thinking of it...magical...an incredible woman

  • so special, also listen to Patti laBelle Live Aid re this song...awesome

  • lovely voice, there are still great singer-songwriters coming through, heard a great song by Teresa Disken, Venus de Milo, also a lovely voice.

  • Deberían opinar solamente de la maravillosa voz de Joan y de su hermosa música.

  • Not trying to change your mind just giving another perspective. The people I hung with were not doing what you said you saw. There was some of that yes, but not every one felt that way. Personally I wanted all the guys not to have to go to that hell hole because some politician decided we needed to stem the tide of communism in that part of the world. Guess we can differ on our views.

  • Piękna dostojna Joan Baez, pozdrawiam Cię, kocham Cię i twuj śpiew,

  • What a voice and song

  • I love her voice but she is really screwing up the melody of one of my favorite songs!!

  • @Ksdiva those draft dodgers were trying to keep more people from dying in a shit war. and i am speaking from someone who was in the military ( marines ) at that time.

  • @Ksdiva Excuse me but ya lost me on that one. What version is your favorite? And how has Joan screwed up the melody? Wow...what planet are you from?

  • Brought tears to my eyes listening to her voice again. I too had forgotten how tremendous her voice is, thanks to all her found this and published it again.

  • @rozhayden

Perhaps I play this song when I think of the buds who didn't come back from Viet Nam. Eat sh*t all you draft dodgers

  • @BuckworthJackson the draft dodgers and war protesters were trying to keep more people from dying in that shit war. i am speaking as someone who was in the military through part of that time ( marines ). Blame the powers that be at that time for your buddies not coming back. i am sorry they didn't make it. i had some who didn't come back also.
