...in addition to the traditional Punjabi Sikh practices. The Healthy/Happy/Holy Foundation (3HO) put on this Summer Solstice celebration every year. That's what you're seeing the video. 3HO was founded by the late Yogi Bhajan, the first to bring the kundalini and Sikh teachings to the States in the mid-1900s. Since then, many of his students have adopted the Sikh lifestyle, and they have settled their faithful communities in the West, mostly in California and New Mexico....
This is a public service announcement for everyone who doesn't understand this particular culture. Many, if not most, of the people you see in the video are Sikhs. Sikhism is the 5th largest world religion, founded by Guru Nanak in the Punjab region of India. It teaches remembrance of one universal creator God, interfaith tolerance, equality, social justice and selfless service.
These particular adherents are of the American Sikh tradition, which includes extensive Kundalini Yoga practice...
Thank you so much for posting this!!! I had some concerns, curiosity and reservations about attending solstice this year and this helped reassure me a lot. See you there!
i got too much respect for you guys.. this is just amazing.. i wish i could do even 5 % what you guys do ... even have liltle bit dedication like you . your Gurus true Sikh..
You people need to leave Espanola! You have intruded on a culture that does not want you in our community. You have the legal right to be there, but if you are so much into respect why don't you respect the thousands of years of culture this community has fought with blood and tears to maintain? I am really surprised that people have not thrown you out, either legally (of course your money probably fights that battle for you) but more surprised we haven't done it forcefully...
umm i live in espanola new mexico, someone plz remind me not to go up 31 mile hill in the summer (which is where this video took place).id get creeped out (no offense) whatever religion this is seems objectifying to women and im sortof a feminist.but i have lived in espanola all my life and ive never seen this going on.even though i used to go to elementary school right next to their golden temple thing
@debmiah07 these ppl are sikhs and FYI one of the major principles of Sikhism is equality of all humanity regardless of color, culture, gender, wealth, and religion. you said that you used to go to elementary school right next to their golden temple but u seem completely oblivious to the fact that sikhism is the only religion in the world that believes in implicit gender equality and independence for women.
oh man white people copying my religion. dont they have anything better to do, lolz . well if they are respecting our religion then we outta respect them.
