we got into all the edgy 80s music. billy idol was big over here for a brit but he lived in new york as a kid, then moved to L.a. in 86 so we treat him as one of our own + his guitar player was american. we never got into the funk, soul thing over here. for some reason brits seemed to really like certain american music that we just didn't care about as kids.
we had "state" tv back then + some satalite tv. radio was good in L.A. outside l.a. you'd have college radio and late nite alt stuff.
