  • are the old siren still there at los angeles?.

  • all that power at 1st i thought the motor would go out. but it has an Epic sound.

  • nice siren! btw, where did you get a 2.8 diesel tacoma in california?! let alone in the usa?

  • That looks EXACTLY like mine.

  • A friend of mine has a 1-1/2hp large frame totally enclosed Fairbanks-Morse 3-phase motor which was made in Kansas City in the 1940s. It was one of the first mass produced electric motors with permanently lubricated ball bearings. The motor was originally belted to a conveyor on a grain elevator, and later ran an air compressor before being put in storage for five years because the owner thought it was defective. Two years ago I wired it up an it ran like new.

  • @douro20 Fairbanks-Morse was also a locomotive manufacturer just fyi

  • Excellent! Very dual toney!

  • They sound soooo much better without the metal band around it, I think that sheetmetal band holds it back soundwise.....

  • Nice!

At firsthought it was flat on the bed so less air intake to produce lessound.

Love the "sour" perfect fourth musical interval.

  • That is just a damn cool siren! I like SD-10 sirens.

  • Motherfucker! I had my headphones on - scared the shit out of me! Thanks!

  • The SD-10 has a nice sound. I like how it sounds on the windown.

  • SD-10's have such a disctint tone. Wonder why they have the metal shield around the stator? It seems it would be louder like this without the cover. I guess to keep debris and weather out. Nice camera!

  • @kdksiren The metal sheld was to disperse the sound upwards and downwards the siren body.

  • holy crap i have one and i need to try this

  • great sounding siren

  • Awesome vid!

  • Nice, are you going to keep it after restoration?

  • Isn't the bass on that thing amazing? Those will rattle your chest like crazy at lower rpm's.

  • @DL1011 I've been saying for years, that the mid and low octaves are the strongest.Like thunder

  • once your done restoring it are you going to mount it next to your t-bolt?

  • you macgyver'd it!

  • Man you have a tough camera! This is epic.

  • LOL at your License Plate!

  • That is so awesome. Man what I wouldn't give for some 3 phase power.

  • Very cool, and wow you have your own 3 phase power, wish I had that.
