  • nice!

  • I guess that's all that really matters. It was delicious and delicious-looking! I'm hoping none of them are on immunosuppressants and I'm sure whatever bacteria left on the freshly caught seafood was taken care by the capsaicin in the hot chili pepper. I would've also used lime or lemon juice to help with the bacteria too. Plus it takes yummy with a little bit of acidity! Damn, i'm getting hungry now...

  • @hanzimaster that's like eating peking duck with ketchup instead of hosin sauce.

  • @LWStupidus, in hawaii we always eat things raw, always rinse hands and sometimes the fish that we clean in the sea water, and even eat seaweed and shellfish raw from the side or rocks. and we're all still alive.

  • @chunkatty I don't know what it is. If you want, leave your question with more detailed description about it on the forum on my website. My other readers may give you the answer.

  • Leave it to Maangchi to find a way to cook with out a spoon! =)

  • OMG looks great and i can't believe how you juust did it on the spot... :O so amazing!!! ^^

  • love your sun glasses

  • Destination Cooking! =D

  • Just a question. I have little experience with raw fish, but logically, doesn't one have to be concerned with the cleanliness and handling of raw fish, otherwise you could get stomach upsets etc? The conditions (bench seat as chopping board for example) scare me. Love the dipping sauce though!

  • @sirspiff ocean fish is often very clean, especially compared to river fish which has a lot of parasites! =)

  • omg you went to my mom's country!! awesome ;)

    the salsa looks yummy!

  • "Salsa!" :D

  • That was so awesome...I was drooling, lol! Thanks for the great video!

Also sweet sunglasses. Made me think of John Lennon. I think because they are round.

Also2! You need to cook up some Ox tail. I know you did the Ox bone soup, I was kinda hoping Ox tail soup :d

  • that counch (sp?) looks so good fresh....

  • maangchi! you are awesome!

  • Maangchi, you are amazing! What a beautiful setting and a great lunch!

  • As a microbiologist there's just so many wrong and unhealthy things from this video..eating raw fish, washing the hands with seawater, not using sanitary plates...lol

But it looked good and probably tasted good too, so it looked like a good time

  • @LWStupidus uh, care to explain why washing hands with seawater isn't as "clean" as it looks?

  • @LWStupidus lol but I think you still sound slightly unconvinced!

  • @LWStupidus have you not eaten sushi before?

  • @qpwoeiru83 just as an info, sashimi (raw fish) that people eat usually undergo rapid processing and flash freezing before they reach onto the hand of sushi chefs. The rapid processing prevent intestinal burst that can leak many harmful bacterias into the meat. The freezing is used to kill parasites in the fishes. So, i think LWStupidus has a point in his/ her comment. :)

  • @dodolah go to a korean raw fish resturant where you can pick the fish you want from the tank and they cut it for you... no freezing involved. Plus freezing does not kill kill parasites eggs in fishes only sure way is cooking it fully.

  • @dodolah flash freezing is for freshness and doesn't kill parasites. Keeping frozen fish at temperature for a set length of time is what kills parasites according to FDA standards. Besides that all raw fish consumed in US is determined sushi grade based on freshness lack of which is more impending risk than parasites. You also have to know your fish. Not all fish have dangerous parasites. Knowing which species in your locale are safe to eat or not is most important.

  • @LWStupidus lol, raw fish is actually a part of everyday japanese/korean cuisine meals

  • @LWStupidus I cannot base this on a scientific proof, but I heard that when you eat it with the Korean pepper paste you should be ok, as it kills the bacteria. I think that is also why Japanese use Wasabi in Sushi :) I am certainly hungry now!! :D

  • @arale1402 it's the capsaicin in all chilis that kill bacteria and also lime or lemon helps too. And the fact that the fish is freshly caught.

  • @LWStupidus Microbiologist... LOL. That's funny. If you're a microbiologist I'm married to Jessica Alba.

  • @LWStupidus I was thinking the same thing lol

  • watching this recipe makes my mouth water!... you look fabulous as well! ^^

  • Go Maangchi ! Show them how it's done!

  • Very nice of you to spread Korean cuisine and some of our culture to the Caribbean!

  • those guys were pretty cute Kim!

  • Wow!! Great fun there, i'll have to remember to bring you with next time we go camping!

  • OMG 회!!!! i love it!!

  • A Picnic that turned into a Feast !

  • I bet that was awesome!!!! Thank you for the video.

  • Looks like great fun, and great food!

  • i just came back from a Korean supermarket and i saw those sauces that you have in ur video :D!

  • LOL! When you were cutting the fish I thought of Savage Yejin from family outing. Lol!

  • F***in AWESOME damn i wish i could go ...

  • Can i request : how to make pork bindaeddeok ?? :) thanks

  • I wish I was on that boat with you! the sauce and conch look delicious, and the scenery is beautiful.

  • your so fabulus with that sunglasses miss kim ... ^^ ..

  • wow haha thats so cool !

  • very handsome men

  • @silentfades I agree! sexy

  • your shades are so cute hahas :]

  • so adventurous!!

  • i always wanted to learn how to make the dipping sauce. But, usualy when i eat it the sauce doesn't seem as thick and there isn't green onions or garlic in it.. is that the same sauce?

  • @522sing no. you're probably eating chojang which is gochujang, vinegar and sugar. The sauce in this video looks like a Southern Korean style.

  • I could really do with some of that Caribbean sunshine right now!

  • if i were to be stuck on an island, i really hope you're with me cus you can make anything!!!

  • sometimes I think eating fish raw is the only way to eat it. It's too good

  • this was really cute! :)

make sure the fish is very fresh or else you'll get sick though!

  • Yummie food and hot looking guys to company me likes

  • You made sure to mention that you should only eat raw fish when it's very fresh, right?

I'm sure you did. It's important to know. Don't eat raw fish that you've already had around for a while. It needs to be very fresh!

  • I am amazed by your ability to cook regardless of where you are! I guess this means if you're ever stranded on an island, you'll never go hungry lol :-). You really should make a cook book or create your own cooking show, I would be an avid follower!

  • You're just the greatest! Even making video's on your holidays!

  • YOU ARE THE CUTEST!

  • Thanks for taking us on the boat with you!

  • Thank you so much for sharing your vacation with us...I have never been to Honduras. The fishermen seemed to be very nice and friendly!

  • Oh that's awesome. Fresh fish is really good. I should try and make the sauce to see how it tastes with that. Thanks for sharing.

  • This is so awesome, what an amazing experience to eat fresh, raw fish right there in the boat. It's so cool that you just used what you had to make a delicious meal for yourself and everyone else!

  • My family eats raw fish with red pepper paste mixed with a little vinegar and sugar I think. YUM!!

  • dont let the health and safety board see that! :P

  • im drooling..

  • that's awesome that you can just cook anywhere and expose different people to your culture.

  • You look like Yoko Ono in this vid

  • Is this the same sauce used for samjang?

  • Great video! I love to see chefs and cooks out in nature gathering what they're about to eat. The Two Fat Ladies were notorious for heading out to the shore or into the woods to fetch food and then have a little picnic then and there to enjoy their catch.

  • That looks soo good! My mouth is watering! LOL! Craving for raw fish now...

  • This is so incredible.

  • hahah thats so cool !!

  • u are soooo cute i think your awesome

  • I love outdoor cooking video! Like the one you made last year with chicken. It feels like a TV cooking show! "Let's eat around the world" lol.

  • I have those sunglasses! XD and dang i would be so pissed to be cutting food with that knife. it's so hard to.

  • I love your videos but I got kind of scared watching this because 1) pocket knife to filet the fish 2) "wash" hands in sea water 3) no spoons so used your hands to scoop 3) cutting and eatting of a bench (where somebody's butt has been), wahhhhhhhh.

  • I’m not fond of eating raw fish but it makes me curious though what it taste like as I’ve always seen this in 1n2d, eating a freshly catch fish but they’re just dipping it in a hot sauce.

Btw, you’ve got cool sunnies ^^

  • That was another great video! Thanks for sharing it.

  • I envy your striving for, attaining of, enjoyment of and finally sharing with everyone. I will surely dream of Caribbean paradise tonight.

  • Thank you very much for your nice comments! Check out the blog on my website. I posted more photos, tips, and a story from my own experience.

  • I love sushi!!!!lol

  • @beatricexox I'm not trying to annoy you, but sushi actually refers to the rice in the dish, not the raw fish. :>

  • that's awesome!! i wish i could travel with maangchi. and your outfit is so rad!

  • i love cho jang with raw fish!! yummmm

  • o no!! They broke the conch?? IT was sooo pretty!! :(

  • i see alot of korean people eat this!!

  • yayy for happy happy raw fishh

  • BP sauce.

  • you used the same pocket knife for the fish AND the korean paste?

  • @simplytunhi well your dipping the fish into the paste anyway, so its gonna go into your stomach either way.

  • @simplytunhi no, it looked like she used a paper towel to scoop it out actually

  • @simplytunhi lol did you think this question through Simply? :D:D

  • Delicious! *__* Love your videos miss Kim! :D

  • I think it's amazing you carry around ingredients with you wherever you go!

  • i love your shades!

  • yum . looks good :)

  • yummy :D it looks good

  • yummy!!!!!!!! :D
