And for those who understand arabic, they will know that the Shiekh, may Allah preserve him, did not once say in the video that TV shows and movies are haraam, rather he spoke about those shows which encourage corruption and are only a waste of time for us. May Allah give us tawfeeq, ameen.
If anyone adopts the opinion that TV is haraam, and all that is on it, then you being on the internet is infinitely more haraam than TV. This is because anything and everything is at a click of a button from where you are sitting reading this right now.
My dear respected brothers and sisters, the television is a tool which can be used to please or displease Allah swt. It is no different than the sword or the gun, both of which can be used to unlawfully take a humans life, or alternatively to use in striving in the path of Allah. Therefore, they are not haraam in of themselves, rather their specific applications.
Everything in moderation. Saying one shouldn't watch films/series is unreasonable, and actually a bit condescending. We have the ability to choose what to watch; to say don't watch films/series because some are "bad" is an insult to our intelligence.
I agree that most of what's on TV is junk (prefer reading myself), but can't see any religious justification for not watching, say, a comedy/drama to relax. After all, relaxation is a physical and mental necessity.
Moderation only leads to exaggeration. It is incorrect for any Muslim to make a ruling after scholars clearly have justified them. Tell me which comedy/drama is without any women having observed moderation according to Quran and Sunnah? Thus TV shows is only full of fitnah (Evil, temptation). So it is wrong to say these vices cannot be justified in a religious sence despite its apparent evil. And Allah knows best.
And instead of watching these unnecessary shows with the claim of 'relaxation' or 'time pass' is not sensible. Tell me what can be more relaxing physically, mentally, spiritually than listening or making recitation of the Noble Quran, than making lengthy optional prayer during the night or day?? The list will only continue...
"Moderation only leads to exaggeration". Nope, extreme and unyielding views lead to this. "It is incorrect for any Muslim to make a ruling after scholars clearly have justified them". Sorry, don't buy that again. Look at some of the ridiculous fatwas which have been issued in the past. Not saying don't disregard what the scholars' say (they are a valuable source in times of uncertainty), just saying THINK (as we are commanded to do).
What one does in their spare time is their business, so it is inappropriate to pass judgment. "Tell me what can be more relaxing physically, mentally, spiritually etc.". True for you, but perhaps not everyone else?
Personally, I don't like the series on TV, but not in my place to spew my opinion at someone who does. Prefer to spend my "spare time" in research/reading or with friends. But that's just me. Again, listen to the opinion of scholars, but don't forget to think for yourself.
There is no such thing as extreme or extremism. Your either a Muslim or not. Well akhi its simple upon you and what you intend to believe but Guidance is indeed clear from error and can be proven from Quran and Sunnah.
There is such a thing as extremism, in all religions and beliefs. "Your either a Muslim or not". True, but that is not for any mortal to judge. What I "intend to believe" is Islam, but I also acknowledge that other people who share this belief will have varying interpretations of how they apply it to their lives. It'd be nice if this wasn't reality (and the Muslim word would be a much more peaceful place), but alas...

We're not debating the how "clear from error" the Quran and Sunna are, we're talking about how they are interpreted and incorporated into daily lives. Where the interpretation in uncertain, is where scholars are a valuable resource. But even scholars differ amongst themselves... "can be proven"... careful with this assertion, because remember you're preaching to the converted here, but what's proven to one may not be to others.
Cable TV in the U.S. is not worth watching. I cancelled my account because I was tired of paying for tv shows about homosexuality and violence. I recently converted to Islam and I am Hispanic. I only use the internet for business, and for learning about Islam through videos like these. Allah IS GREAT. Please keep making more videos like this.
I'm going to laugh SO hard when your religion's lies come to light...
