I have one and it's a great guitar - especially for the money. The vol knob is placed well for volume swells but can get on the way sometimes. The switching takes some getting use to but the pickups have a unique sound that doesn't come across this demo very well. On ten through a low powered amp they have a nice raspy P90'ish growl that is very un-Strat/Tele like. The 44mm wide neck is comfy with a low C profile. The Chinese fit and finish was near perfect and it's as light as a feather!
@gorpusasasa Hihihi - actually he says "Höfner". The "ö" is pretty much pronounced like the "ou" in "journey". So it's more like "Houfnaw". If you have problems with the "H", sorry I can't help.
Ik@gorpusasasa I knew you're French. So I also knew that you can't pronounce the "H". It was a joke, hope you forgive me. Have a nice day and Salut! Wolfgang Btw - I ordered the guitar yesterday!
A semi with 3 single coils(not P90s)---eh??? But it seems to work!
I think it sounds just great--mind you that Vibro King might have something to do with it.
I see Hofner are sticking with their idiosyncratic way of labelling their p/u switching though--off when it's on and on when it's off!
I have a v.cheap Hofner violin bass that's also made in China and the build quality and finish is faultless so all you doubters out there put your preconceptions to one side.Don't be afraid!
China Schmina! I don't care where a guitar is made. A $1000.00 (in the U.S.) The Loar LH-650 sounds as good as any MODERN Gibson I've ever heard, period (It's not fair to compare a brand new guitar to a 75 year old L5.)
@Eurobubble70 daaaaammmmnn , dont get me wrong, but any other would do, indonesia, korea, just not the china, never had good expirience with their products EVER, and i had a lot,its either a neck or a electrics etc And its to bad cause i like the sound and the loks on this
Would this guitar work with like really heavy distortion? Cause i kinda play in a band with both like jazzy, bluesy tunes and rave-post-hardcore stuff.

Yep. It sounds like a Strat.

@sworder48 Na. Sounds a bit Telecaster-y on the bridge pickup, but that's where the similarities to any other guitar end. To my ears.

Beautiful playing!! I'd like to say so in German, but, well, I'm English, and you know what we're like with foriegn languges!! Sorry.

It sounds and looks good, but those little switches are a non-starter for me.

I'd love to hear this with just a little bit of drive, I find HB-equipped semis can get a bit muddy, especially on the neck pickup.

Sounds good - like a nice fat Strat,,, BUT remember he is playing it thru what is Fender's best quality amp currently - a Vibro~King....

@bebenavole Wondering about the same. This price is like a Fender strat mex used. I think its like the 50`thick neck on the strat.

Very nice demo of the VTH-3! Those pickups sound amazing. No need to ever change them.

Is it difficult to eventually change the pickups on these semi-acoustic guitars?
nice review btw=)

The stoner rock/metal band Winters uses a Hofner CT Verythin and a Hofner CT Club bass.
