She's not that bad. I think she's be fun to have at a jam. I don't sing, I just pick, but my hat's off to anyone who steps up to the plate and bellers one out. Sometime's it's hard to hear yourself when a group of pickers is playing in a circle.
Why so mean? it's a jam session, she didn't ruin a recording session, I agree with pizzpoor, this is what sets bluegrass apart from other types of music, it looks like Russell & Steve are loving it. The best way to learn is to take the chance & do it.
keep on singing lady, the more you do it the better you'll get!
Those ladies are a dime a dozen at bluegrass festivals! They feel like they have to impress with their "quality vocals" to make up for not playing an instrument. The only thing that kills a good jam session more than that is a broken string! Take a hint, lady!
Sounds awesome! Nothing beats the sound people whop actually sound good in a jam setting. It's so much better than stage or studio. It's off the cuff.
THis video demonstrates what Bluegrass music is all about....The professionals out in the crowd playing with amateurs. Ever seen Kenny Chesnee playing with the crowd...OR how about snoop doggie dog?
You're playing with legendary bluegrass musicians. A real wash tub bass doesn't have geared tuners. Just a rope. It'd be nice to see a picture of the whole bass yer pickin'.
Why then it would sound like monotone snake handling music. Click on the video posters name and watch Tony and the youngsters from Red Lablel picking Foggy Mountain Breakdown.
(with one string on the bass)( the songs "foggy mountain breakdown" and "wheel house" from the same video poster show washtub bass and a learning tool, the strum stick)
@MajorLiga Randy did sing that song on the CD!

And a "real bango" is made from a turtle shell or a gourd from the "real" old south (cotton) pickers.
